  1. Hi, anyone removed the chrome lip from the leading edge bonnet? It seems to have a white clip and a dark clip, one of which looks to be attached to the trim piece itself and the dark gray/black appears to be a separate bracket of some kind the chrome trim is attached to. Do I need to remove all of these? Any advice greatly appreciated! Cheers, steve
  2. Are you sute you didn't just stick a mirror over the b-panel? Seriously though, it looks great and I'm pretty sure that's the same colour as my mk2 Superb. Nice to see what it could have been like! Have you considered something like a ceramic coating to protect it now you've got it there? Personally, I think black wheels look great for winter wheels in contrast to the deep blue? Cheers, Steve

Those wheels look great! What are they?
  4. Thanks! It's been cleaned quite a lot by someone who knows what they're doing (i.e. not me!). The photo was the day after the detailing. I'll keep working on it but I suspect the marks left are not coming off now.
  5. I personally agree the v6 does sound better. Inside the cabin it's a fairly subtle but nice sound when you put your foot down. Never heard it from outside the car... Anything in particular you're after from the interior, other than running a book on how long it is since I last hoovered it out? Cheers, Steve
  6. I need to shrink these photos down a bit next time...
  7. Following on from @guyblue10 I also had James from RemyRoc come out and detail the car. I was in two minds about this as we waited over the winter for a weekend clear enough to get it done but I'm glad I did it. My reservation was based on the cosmetic state of the car already rather than anything else but a proper detailing and polishing removed a number of blemishes and improved the look of the car considerably. Hopefully it'll be nice and easy to keep clean! Ha... couple of pics... the pipes might not look great but they were black. I didn't realise it even had chromed tips until I saw someone else's v6 on here!
  8. I should have updated this ages ago.... To do list: Service! Bought the car with the thought 'I don't do many miles'. Now I have a car I like driving I've accidentally done ~10,000 miles already Replace rear boot rubber seal Replace parking bulbs with Osram LEDs Replacement windscreen? It's picked up a very small crack in the offside corner to go with some chips. Briskoda stickers! Update the maps and columbus firmware Better braking Wind deflectors Boot lining and heavy duty rubber mats New summer wheels - Team Dynamics? Detailing - DONE! Winter wheels - DONE! New bonnet lip trim Updated badges More to come no doubt. I'm just going to show it up here as things go along and we'll see how it goes. I've been a bit slack at updating this post already, having got slightly distracted by @BossFox's very long Yeti thread(s)! Cheers, Steve
  9. I'm not gonna write anything about mpg; I'm just going to say now you've driven the petrol vRS and really want it, don't worry about it and get one rather than buy something else because of mpg and spend the entire time wishing you had the vRS instead! Coming from someone who bought 3.6L v6 Superb because "I don't do many miles and will do less"...then accidentally have put on 9,000 miles in 6months...
  10. Hi all, Had this a few months now, trading in my previous '09 Roomster (one of the best cars I've owned - if only it had better seats!) for this, having spotted it at the dealership whilst getting the Roomster serviced (terrible timing, I know) and initially dismissed it on the assumption it the 'v6' badge indicated it was the older 2.5 v6 diesel. It's a 2011 Superb v6 3.6 4x4 in Elegance trim (as they all were over here) with a few nice features - I'm sure some of these were standard but hey.. Heated leather electric seats Xenons Powered boot (that's a tailgate y'all ) Flappy padels Parking assist Front and read parking sensors (a must on the superb in my view!) probably some other stuff I've forgotten about And of course that lovely v6 under the bonnet! It's done quite a lot of miles hence a good price. It seems as though it's been meticulously serviced with both DSG and Haldex fluid changes ahead of schedule and looked after pretty well inside but when I first saw the car, it was horribly stone chipped all across the front so I assume lots of motorway miles. An initial chat with one of the staff at the dealership revealed they were planning to get the paintwork issues addressed. What that resulted in was a front end re-spray with the bonnet and front bumper being sprayed and the wings blended in, included in the purchase price. There was also a small spot of bubbly paint in the gap between the offside wing and drivers door which was resolved too. Anyway, an initial post to get the ball rolling and admit that yes, I am going to see if I can fix some of the uglier issues. And maybe some other tweaks too. Seems appropriate to post today as hopefully James from Remy Roc will be here in an hour to see if we can fix some paintwork issues... Cheers, Steve
  11. I can't understand why these concept cars often seem to have the most comically awful wheels in particular. Have these guys learnt nothing from Tesla? Make it look more like a normal car and people will be far more interested!
  12. You can also buy the insert and toolkit etc from Superskoda: http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SUPERB-II/Superb-II-09-13-original-Skoda-kit-for-spare-wheel-change Cheers, Steve
  13. +1 on the front sensors I have them on a Superb mk II - probably wouldn't have bought the car without them. I also like that you can turn them on at low speed with a button on the console - ideal for swinging into the entrance to the car park at work which is tight in something as big as a superb. So it's a little frivolous but I'd love to have the glass roof option - had that on a previous Skoda and really liked how much lighter it made the car. Seems to be smaller and more of a traditional sunroof now though? You may also wish to test the stereo if music in the car is important to you, as there is an upgrade option. The quality of the output is a little disappointing on the mk II for what is supposed to be the flagship model. I'm sure others can advise on how they find it too. Cheers, Steve
  14. Very much like the new plates! Idle curiosity - how many miles on the car now? Cheers, Steve
  15. Also had mine painted silver in a deal with the dealer before I bought the car. Also cost £60 a corner (but had the bonus that I'd not actually taken ownership of the car so any screwups were the dealer's problem to sort!) and I'm pretty happy with the result. To be brutally honest, I just didn't like the design enough to spend more on a refurb. I'd just go the painted route, especially if you're going to leave them on all winter. Cheers, Steve
  16. I think you've got to consider that a lucky escape - could have been so much worse! I hope the scrotes get caught!
  17. Surely must have been November or December 2016 based on the previous few posts? cheers, Steve
  18. Have you considered taking it to a few shows before you sell it? Thanks for the info - I'll check them out. I'd like to do some more myself now I actually have a drive but there's some stuff I'd not touch! It's the Nottingham-Leeds line running through Sheffield. Cheers, steve
  19. Coming a bit late to the party here and this thread is now 65 pages! I'm not going to go back through all that but I think I need to track down a copy of Evo magazine that featured your cars. They look fantastic on the few pages I have looked at. BossFox's comments on the McLaren were interesting...I think part of the fun is seeing what you can get out of the cars too, where as in the McLaren it's almost too easy? I was also going to post this...Another skyline to preserve - but looking back through a few pages it might be yours already Richard?! Cheers, Steve
  20. Very old post I know, but how did you find the K&N? Cheers, Steve
  21. I hope no-one minds me repeating this pictures - that looks awesome! In my view, you've lowered that to the perfect height! Lovely work. From the thread, would I be right in thinking at least one of the specialists you used is based in Sheffield? I'd be interested to hear of an independent VAG specialist you were happy with. Whilst my car is in no way up to this (and never will be cosmetically, I'm not going to pretend otherwise!) I would like to have a high quality alternative to main dealer...and a place that at least takes enough care to not drag wheels over my bumper on a simple wheel swap - which admittedly wasn't the main dealer but still. This thread makes me want a Golf again It also sounds like there's a reasonable chance you'll end up driving the train I frequently catch to work too...
  22. To be blunt, I think the reason opinions will differ is the first two points are too subjective and the 3rd point is going to require someone to have done some vey careful tracking of their fuel because the maxi dot will not be accurate enough to measure this in my view. I've switched to 18" --> 17" for the winter. I don't think the ride was firm with the 18s on, I think it absorbs the broken up roads in the Peaks a little quieter. I'm not sure it's quieter, probably not as I'm running winter/mud/snow tyres with the tread that entails. Not gonna talk about 3 - I have the v6. I don't want to know! If you really want to make the switch, I personally wouldn't bother sticking to Skoda wheels - there are a lot of VAG group wheels for sale on eBay. I went for Dezent for winter wheels - the finish seems to be very good and resilient. Cheers, Steve P.S. I also think the stereo is a little tinny but not so bad as you're suggesting. Playing with the basic EQ has improved things a little there to my ears...
