  1. It's just the car telling you that the car will be SAFE locked / dead locked when you lock it, and the SAFE locking makes it impossible to get out of the car if there are people sitting in it when you lock the doors.
  2. Here in Norway, my car has been parked outside in temperatures from around 0 C down to -29 C since I unticked the "rain close" box in the Maxi Dot meny. I do this before winter sets in to avoid battery drain. The sun blind in my car hasn't moved once.. The same applies to our demonstrator cars at work. I read quite a bit of repair litterature/workshop manuals because of what I do for a living (Skoda technichian) and I have not seen anything mentioned anywhere that temperature has anything to do with the rainclose feature. The glass used in the panorama roof is supposed to keep most of the sun generated heat out in the summer, and is also designed to keep the cold out during winter. I do agree that the sun blind does help in keeping the cabin cool when the sun is high in summer, but I highly doubt that a thin flimsy piece of cloth with holes in it will help much in keeping the cabin warm during the winter..
  3. As far as I know (and from experience with my own car) the only thing that closes the sunroof blind is: -Rainclose activated in Maxi-Dot When this function is activated, the BCM/comfort module will send a "close signal" to all door control units, and the roof module when it recieves a signal from the rain/light sensor about moisture on the windscreen being registered. The BCM/Comfort module will also tell the door control units and the roof module to close all windows/roof after around 12 hours regardless of if it's raining or not IF the rain close function is activated. I have never read anything about that it has anything to do with temperature..
  4. As far as I know, the only cars to have this in the Skoda range is the Fabia vrs, and the Octavia vrs. I have driven the Fabia vrs on track, and the XDS really does what it says it does when it comes to reducing understeer. Quite impressive.
  5. In general, only diesel engines use variable geometry turbos. The exhaust gas temps are very high in petrol engines, and that makes the variable turbos for petrol engines very expensive. As far as i know, only the Porsche 911 turbo and a few other petrol engined cars use them. In "normal" petrol cars, wastegates, and recirculating valves/BOV are still in use.

    Engine heat

Light comes on when the DPF is 55% full. You then have 4 attempts at clearing the filter by driving the way instructed in the owners manual. Over 75% full and you have to see a workshop to start a forced regeneration. Over 90% full, and the filter is supposed to be changed. I work with these cars, and still haven't seen one CR engined car with the DPF light on. The system works very well! My car get's lot's of short trips, and i notice it regenerating from time to time, but still haven't had the DPF lamp light up. My car has done 18 000 km's now.

    DPF trying to regenerate/clean itself...
  8. The "bumper" is just a plastic cover which weighs maybe 5 kg.. Not a problem to remove. Having an extra pair of hands when fitting is nice, but not required.

    Memory seats

You have to press the button without a number first, and then HOLD the respective numbered button untill it you hear the ping sound to save a position. Ignition on, or engine running.
  10. I'm 172cm short. I climb up on the rear wheels, grabbing the roof rails to reach the roof for cleaning.
  11. Congratulations on the new Monster!! Sounds like a good choice with the 110 TDI.. A great engine if most of your driving is on normal roads and not motorways/autobahns.
  12. My Yeti had the same symptoms last winter when driving on uneven roads with snow and ice.. I got the instrument ( complete part ) replaced. Will have to see this winter if that was a permanent cure.. The squeeks from the instrument chrome rings accompanies a full orchestra of other unvanted sounds (rattles, squeeks, ) from doors, roof, rear hatch, A-pillars etc. so I will not be very surprised if the squeeks from the instrument returns....
  13. The software is only for cars with the sound system option (the only ones to have the amplifier) , and is supposed to rectify "cut outs" in sound when: listening to the radio, navigating, listening to music via aux and MDI. The new software was introduced at the factory in calendar week 21, 2010. There is also new software for the Columbus unit with part number 3T0 035 680 ( used until week 50 in 2009). This software is supposed to rectify lots of customer complaints: The customer claims one of the following symptoms: • The radio navigation unit RNS asks spontaneously (sporadically) for PIN code; • The operation of the navigation is only possible with the navigation DVD inserted; • The radio navigation unit RNS switches off, is restarted with a possible acoustic symptom of clicking / cracking into the loudspeaker; • The radio navigation unit RNS loses the memory with radio stations; • The radio navigation unit RNS is activated very slowly; • No sound; • Sporadic failure to display PDC on the RNS display when engaging reverse gear before RNS has been started; • Humming, rushing, cracking noises in the loudspeakers; • Frozen starting screen / picture with the „LOGO“ of the introductory Škoda screen; • Sporadic failure to display „Volkswagen Navigation“ or „Skoda Navigation“ in the audio menu in the instrument cluster; • Displaying a nonexistent rear obstacle when vehicle is equipped with PDC; • Sporadic failures of RNS and Audio in Audio menu in the instrument cluster. Old SW number: 0804, 0904, 1104 and 1164. New software: SW 2684. Hope this helps you!
  14. There is a software update available for the sound system problem.. Old faulty software is 0340, new is SW 0342. The ECU to be updated is the "amplifier" / sound system controller.
  15. If you have Climatronic, it's two zones. The right rear follows right front, and left rear follows left front.. No way to separate front and rear compartments. One zone systems like the Climatic use the same temperature in the entire cabin.. Jon A
  16. GSM III is a system that uses rSAP, normally only a Nokia compatible system. The car is the phone with this system, and it just borrows info from the SIM card in your phone. Among things that this system does that GSM II doesn't is lets you red sms messages in the cars display, it uses an eksternal antenna and so on. GSM II just connects to your phone and uses your phones antenna (unless you get GSM II with a cradle on the dash) . Contacts etc. is transfered to your car, so you can navigate through last calls, missed calls etc. from the MFD in the instrument cluster. Connects with most phones.
  17. This might be a good solution IF they decide to make one for the Yeti.. : My link Not to flashy like a "bull bar, but still a sturdy place to anchor extra lights. The aluminium anodized finish would compliment the rest of the "aluminium" trim on the car.. The holes that has to be made ends up under where the number plate is as standard, so taking off the "bar" and reverting to stock looks like an option?? My guess is that they will make one for the Yeti, because a lot of the swedish car magazines like the Yeti and I think it sells pretty well in Sweden
  18. Hi! This could be a national thing.. It could be that the importer to Norway (where all VAG cars arrive in Norway and get their PDI) activated the rear lights on cars until a certain date, and now have stopped doing this. The rear lights when using DRL's can be activated on all Yeti's using the VAS diagnostic tool. 10 minute job. Jon A
  19. "Old" Yeti's illuminate the tail lamps with the DRL's, new ones don't. The dealer can activate tail lamps when running DRL's with his diagnostic tool.
  20. The sound proofing mats will take ages to get perfectly dry, and if it is hung up to dry somewhere hot, it might loose it's shape.. Will make the carpet look bad when put on top of it when dry. The carpet itself is thin, and shouldn't be a problem to get dry :|
  21. I have the same on my car, but I don't consider it a problem. It's perfectly normal for parts of the "undercarriage" / suspension to develop surface rust. Don't worry about it
  22. My guess is a misalligned or in some other way faulty drain from the AC-evaporator/heater matrix box under the dashboard. If this drain doesn't work the way it should, all the water that condenses on the evaporator (which can be quite a lot) will end up on the cars floor instead of under the car like it is supposed to do. I hope your dealer takes good care of you and your car and sorts this out!
  23. I'm afraid the bumper must be removed.. The headlamp is a complete unit, so you won't be able to get just the lens as a part.
  24. Yes, the procedure can be reversed using the same function. There is also a choice between right hand drive and left hand drive cars in the programme, so my guess would be that this function is present in UK VAS testers as well. And yes, the function is still there after I updated the software in the VAS tester
