Driving on the right/Driving on the left
Ozzy25 replied to alancha's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk IV (2020 > )
I’ve put it on a previous comment somewhere. When it gives you the option to select right or left, don’t press Left. Instead press right again, then again and then press left. Something like that. It will then stay on left until you turn off the engine again. -
Driving on the right/Driving on the left

My ACC changed sides this morning. Normally it won’t let you undertake a slower car to your right. Today it won’t let me overtake a slower car to my left. Still have to manually change my headlights to the left every time I get in the car. Yesterday, oil sensor faulty light came on again. This was supposed to be fixed last month. Also today, manoeuvre braking currently unavailable and front assist not working. -

Headlights on mine can be temporarily changed over to the left, i.e. driving in the U.K. and Ireland. Once the ignition is off and all the electrics shuts down it reverts back to the RIGHT, i.e. driving in Europe. To change them go to Vehicle settings, Headlights, Travel Mode. On mine this is where it shows Driving on the right. You need to press Driving on the right. This then brings up, Right-hand traffic and Left-hand traffic. The green dot is displayed on Right-hand traffic. Do not select Left-hand traffic. Instead select Right-hand traffic again. Driving on the Right is then displayed again. Select Driving on the right. Right-hand traffic and Left- hand traffic are displayed again. This time select Left-hand traffic. Then Driving on the Left (U.K. & Ireland) is displayed. You are now safe to drive around without blinding every other road user. However, if you stop for fuel or go to the shop etc.. you have to do the whole routine again because it will have switched back to the Right. If you forget to do it and just start driving you will have to pull over again because it will not allow you to change them to the Left whilst you are moving. My car is in again this month to try and fix them. I’ve been told the new software it’s getting will sort out the problem. -
As far as I can see the 3 prongs are in the same place. The new model badge is a bit flatter than the mk3 one, less of a curve. Easy to replace and no shaving off anything. But it’s about 1mm different so rocks about slightly when stuck back on the bonnet. I have got replacement M3 double sided sticky pads to try and play around with the gap but haven’t bothered yet.

It was in the garage for a full day trying to fix it. Reply from Skoda U.K. and Skoda Ireland. I had a look at the dealers car, that was set to Left Hand. Checked a mk3.5 at work and that is set for Left Hand Traffic.

Mine was January 2021. Bottom of infotainment Screen sometimes goes blank so you can’t change the temperature or put on heated seats etc. I’m sure my seat self reclines but haven’t got round to having a good look at it. Hate the amount of time it takes to boot up so I can turn off the start/stop button and then select the individual driving mode. Also I have to go into the car menu section and click on the headlight settings and switch them back to left hand traffic as they always reset to right hand traffic. Even if I stop for diesel I have to go through this routine every time. If I forget and just get in the car and drive you have to do this on the move. However it will not allow you to switch the lights back over when driving. So if you are driving at night you are blinding people with your headlights until you find a place to stop and reset them.

Update on my lights. When I change my lights back to Left hand traffic, they will stay on LH until I get out of the car and lock it. As soon as you get back in again it’s on Right Hand traffic. It was in the garage a full day yesterday to be fixed. Phone call last night to say it was fixed, come pick it up. Opened the car and checked light settings. Right Hand traffic was displayed still. They are now going to create a ‘ticket’ and escalate the matter.

I can definitely confirm that they are slightly different. I still have a Mk3 badge wobbling on my mk4 bonnet. 🙄
-
My last RS MK3.5 only had the normal LED lights and the option was there to switch from left to right.

Stranger and stranger!!
-
I haven’t really driven it in the dark yet.
-
That was my thinking of it. So why does it keep changing itself over to right hand traffic?
-
So for instance if I had a UK car (right hand drive) and was driving Europe, what would the set up be??

My car is in km.

A few times now I have flicked through the settings to find that on Travel Mode it is on ‘Driving on the right’. I change it to ‘driving on the left’ and then forget about it for a while. Every time I have another look it is back to ‘Driving on the right’. Am I doing something wrong?? I’m in Ireland and we definitely drive on the left.

😢 just washed my car for the first time and the bonnet badge is moving slightly. Found my old Mk3 badge and compared it to the mk4 one I took off. As TheUltraRunner mentioned in an earlier post, yes the mk3 badge is slightly more curved. Removed all the sticky stuff off both badges and mk3 part number is 3V0 853 621A. Mk4 is 3V0 853 621.

I never really knew how they worked. I presumed they were on all the time and just did their own thing adapting to the various road conditions. Then I wondered why I had the ‘A’/ headlight symbol. I used to have that on a Golf and it just dipped the headlights when meeting traffic. So now this doesn’t dip the lights, it just blanks a portion of your light off. Every day is a school day. I live in the sticks so I’ll give them a try.

OK. So you have to remember to push the headlight stalk forwards every time you get in the car at night for Matrix to work. Then wait for the infotainment screen to reboot to switch the heated seats on and stop/start off.

Could someone please tell me if I have matrix lights on my new vrs do these operate all of the time. Or do I have to push the high beam stalk forwards until the A appears in the headlight for it to work??
