  1. Not that it helps, but I have a 2018 too and one shock had failed, the other one leaking like yours. My local independent flagged it when they were investigating other issues. They were also quite damning about Skoda identifying and fixing these issues. As others have said, it's an MOT failure in both cases. Sorry.
  2. Here you go, these are the parts that were done on mine. They did say the damn things were buried and a lot had to come off.
  3. Well, the job has overrun and I won’t get my car back until tomorrow. It seems as though it is being a pain of a job to do. I’ll see what I can get out of them when I pick it up, but I’m not that mechanically minded, albeit trying to take more interest. I’ll let you know what I find out tomorrow afternoon.
  4. If the parts list is on the invoice, I’ll happily attach that later for you. I didn’t bother asking for any contribution from Škoda, it’s a 2018 and I’m well out of my used warranty etc.
  5. As it happens, it’s getting done today. Dealer wanted around £1100 and my independent is doing it for £995 ish. That’s for the job lot, water pump, thermostat, coolant regulator and a belt in that area too. Water pump on its own was £375.

Thank you @toot, you made me question myself and the VAQ hasn’t been done 😞 I called the dealer that serviced it last and they didn’t know what I was talking about, neither did the techs that were onsite this morning! It’s already booked in for service and mot on Wednesday, so it’s added to the list for them. Hopefully as it’s low mileage and it doesn’t get much hard driving say all that it’ll be ok, but hey!

  9. I wish they were upgrades and I was tempted to go for coilovers etc! Both shocks were knackered and I've had some knocking when going from full lock to full lock, 3 point turns etc. I think I posted about it a while ago, anyway, turns out the bearings in the top mounts were going too. So I opted for the springs to be done at the same time. Sucks to be me on this one! I've no idea why to be honest, I bought it two years ago and I look after mine, so whether the previous person had sat still too long during lockdowns and didn't look after it, I've no idea. I'm not impressed to say the least, plus it's service and MOT next week, and I need new tyres for the front soon too! I know they're normal maintenance, but the total is eye watering nevertheless.
  10. I’ve just checked that £349 price, sadly it excludes VRS models. It’s still a massive leap from that to what I am currently facing. Why can’t they be around to get a price tomorrow! Ah well, roll on Monday.
  11. Yeah, I’ve had that done thankfully. But yes, if that’s for the same job that needs to be done it’s a big difference. I know I need the small belt, the minor pump or cover plate piece then the gasket and the main pump - I recall the cover plate part being around £65 then the main pump being around £350. I’ll certainly call them and go from there. My local is very well regarded etc, but at that price I’m at least checking what a dealer would charge. I’ve also just had the top mounts, springs, shocks and arb links done at the front, that racked up just under £1k. Not feeling too happy with her at the mo!
  12. Sorry if I’ve missed recent posts, but most seem to be older and I wondered if anyone has had this done on theirs recently? I’ve had a quote from a local garage and it’s around £400-450 for parts then about the same for labour, so the ballpark is nearly £1k! For what it’s worth, I’ll call Skoda on Monday, but seriously? If it makes a difference, mine is a 2018 VRS 245 with a snip of 30k miles on the clock.
  13. @andyknoxville and anyone else has anyone who has fitted 235s instead of the usual 225s in order to get all seasons on their VRS, how did you get on? I'm not a fast driver and yet I have gone through Michelin PS4S on the front of mine in 9k miles. It's been suggested that I try some all seasons if I really don't need the soft, sticky grip of the PS4s etc. However, on looking you still can't get all seasons in 225s. Any help or advice would be awesome.

  15. Hey everyone, No idea if it makes a difference with my car being a petrol 2018 245, but I've noticed the coolant is now low and don't have a clue about cars! Can anyone let me know which ready mix I can use to top it up please? ...I checked when the car is on a level surface and the engine was definetly cold... oddly, it's only a few months after being serviced... Thanks everyone

  17. Am I correct in recalling that the launch edition (or what it's referred to as) 245, so 2018 models, didn't have the GPF, or was that something else? If so, might be worth keeping that in mind if the age/budget suits what you're looking for.

  20. Mine was bad enough the other day with traction control on, the roads were pretty flooded and I could feel the car being pulled all over the place! Which was fairly disappointing, but then I work from home now and do so little driving, I might not be used to bad weather driving anymore. The traction control light didn't come on at all, so I might be overly critical. Otherwise, I haven't had any issues with traction - not brave enough to send it round corners hard without and I very much doubt I have the skills!

I've just been called about a similar 'fix' being applied to mine, something about the bump stop contacting the strut on wheels turning, so they've put some 'high performance' grease on the bump stops. Time will tell I guess - so far, I am happy with the dealer, but we will see! Oh and I have to pay as there wasn't a component breakdown, but they're covering half the cost of the labour (which I didn't even have to ask them to do) - so can't complain really.
  23. Thank you everyone 👍 I used to be more active on here, but I must have missed that it can be a common thing. Strange that it returned even after your mods @vrs'burks? I have dropped it off at the local dealer today, ready for them to check tomorrow. My used warranty from buying the car finishes on Thursday and thanks to the dealer, they've managed to squeeze it in! I'll let you know what they find and whether I end up paying!
  24. Hi folks, Has anyone has this one before? It's just recently started that when I turn slowly, going typically lock to lock etc - three point turns, tight turn into driveway etc - I can hear a quiet knocking noise. It's a VRS 245 (2018) with 25k on the clock, just recently had a major service and coollant tank replaced with a double wall one (to escape the silica bag issue). I'm not mechanically inclined, just would be great to have some views when I talk to Skoda. Many thanks, Scotty
