225/35/19 All season tyres?

Hi,

Sorry for my ignorance (I did try searching the forums and the internet) but I have for the past few years run all season tyres on my golf and as I live in a fairly rural area (doesn't really get gritted) and work in town (which does get gritted) with some country lanes in-between.

My golf had 15inch wheels (yay for cheap tyres!).

My new Octavia VRS has 225/35/19 Y tyres and for the life off me I cannot find any all season tyres for it? Loads of summer and a couple of winters, but no all season?

I don't really want to go down the spare set of wheels and tyres for the Winter months route, so the all season are a good compromise :)

Has anyone found anywhere that does these size tyres in all season?

Many thanks for any help in advance

Andy

Some Skoda Octavia MK3 vRS owners have fitted 235/35R19 instead of the standard 225/35R19 size to their 7.5Jx19 ET51 OEM rims. The official minimum rim width for 235/35 tyres is 8J. However, many owners don't seem to have a problem fitting this tyre size to the slightly narrower 7.5J rim width. One benefit of doing this is that the sidewalls bulge out a little more helping to protect the rims from kerbing damage. Another benefit is that mounting tyres to narrower rims improves the ride comfort as this helps the sidewalls flex more easily. A third benefit is that the slightly higher sidewalls of the 235/35 size compared to the 225/35 size will help protect against pothole damage. However, if you really want a lot of protection from pothole damage 17" rims such as 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 could be the way to go.

Fitting rims with an offset of 38mm instead of 51mm will increase your front and rear track by 26mm.

235/35R19 is a more popular tyre size than 225/35R19, hence the increased choice of tyres in this size.

As you will see from the above, a Vredestein Quatrac Pro 205/50R17 93Y XL tyre with a new steel rim is cheaper than just the Vredestein Quatrac Pro 235/35R19 91Y XL on its own. The 205/50R17 is also a lot more comfortable than the 235/35R19 size, and you will get a higher top speed and more mpg due to less drag.

@andyknoxville and anyone else :) has anyone who has fitted 235s instead of the usual 225s in order to get all seasons on their VRS, how did you get on? I'm not a fast driver and yet I have gone through Michelin PS4S on the front of mine in 9k miles. It's been suggested that I try some all seasons if I really don't need the soft, sticky grip of the PS4s etc. However, on looking you still can't get all seasons in 225s.

Any help or advice would be awesome.

All seasons are available in 225/35 R19

Vredestein Quattrac Pro XL

Then some mid range

Maxxis AP3

Imperial all season driver

There are also a few from budget brands, (but wouldn't put budget tyres on a performance car), eg Tracmax, Minerva, Berlin, Atlas, Syron, Fortuna, Linglong, Leao, Superia.

I’ve run Michelin CrossClimates on a previous Subaru Forester, Freelander and just fitted them to my Karoq with the 19in rims. Never had a problem with them, apart from the price but then you get what you pay for. Michelin were running a cashback offer so that eased the pain but think that ended last week.
Might want to add them to your list to consider, but certainly shop around for whatever you decide upon.
