  1. I ordered mine at the end of October and apparently mines getting built next week, so end of March for me
  2. With a lot of our cars being delayed and people have either sold or about to give back their current cars (I sold mine just before Xmas) so has anyone managed to blag a car from Skoda to get them about for the time being? The reason is I’ve got a longish trip at the end of the month and I don’t really trust the £250 Mercedes to get me there and back. Some advice on how I’d go about this would be fantastic
  3. I remember hearing that in her Christmas speech
  4. Well you instantly lose 20% once you buy a new car no ifs or buts unless it’s some rare and desirable model
  5. If I was in your situation I’d consider this. Diesel v petrol Diesel is usually more expensive but you get slightly better mpg over petrol Diesel seems to fallen out of favour with pretty much everyone so depreciation, the petrols are holding money pretty well The noise.... most Diesel engines aren’t noted for their engine noise in a positive way The common turbo vains sticking for the diesel, DPF and erg valve issues (if you do the miles and drive it hard you’ll be fine) The lack of low down torque in the petrol but a change of driving style might help Personally for me I’d choose the petrol mainly because I don’t do big miles (company diesel car for me) I hate the noise of the clattering diesel I also hate filling up with diesel it always seems to be all over the pump so I stink of it for the rest of the day.
  6. In another thread on here the vrs 245 has been putting out more than the quoted figures I’m pretty sure I’ve seen 250-260 on the rollers
  7. This is a complete dog but it’s a bit of a laugh, it’s got a button to knock the rear head rests down if you press it one head rest pops down then a minute later the other one pops down. I can’t get angry at for £250
  8. That’s what I’m thinking even if it goes bang it’s only one car payment (for me) and I’ll get £80-100 scrap
  9. Since I’ve sold my tiguan in preparation for the VRS I’ve been without a car for a few weeks and since I’ve had no definitive build date I’ve gone out and bought a Mercedes clk 200 auto! For the grand total of £250 i love banger motoring I’ve forgot how fun it is. Anyway that’ll keep me plodding along until the VRS arrives
  10. Sorry my heads up my arse today I thought you were the op
  11. Yes im in about my mini, the 159 has loads of room in the back, if you can’t acquire a 245 and you’re partial to jag I’ve seen some cracking lease deals on the petrol xf
  12. I test drove the diesel vrs and the 230 Vrs so I ordered a 245 vrs haha. anyway the diesel vrs felt identical to my remapped VW Tiguan (190) I was a bit disappointed in it to be honest. Petrol all the way for me, if I was doing big miles then I’d probably consider a diesel Audi or something similar. For me personally it seems like the the diesel Vrs is like an R-line, S-line,M sport etc kind a car should be called the Skoda Octavia 2.0tdi vrs -line
  13. I think you might struggle with those numbers at the moment, £22k seems like the going rate for a 2nd hand vrs 245. I’ve seen some good deals leasing a 230 vrs. If leasing is an option a Golf R Estate can be had for under £300 per month with around £2k deposit. edit I love the busso engine what a masterpiece
  14. Having owned several Alfa’s and been a massive fan of them it’s a shame they don’t offer the Gulia in an estate, anyway I’ve ordered a vrs 245 I’ve never drove one though (I test drove the 230). I had the same dilemma it was between a cupra 300 or the Skoda and for me I wanted a more discreet drive whilst been fun at the same time so the 245 ticked the boxes for me. I occasionally lend my brothers 159 estate 1.9 (I’ve only got a mini at the moment) and in terms of space, power and handling it trumps it in every department.
  15. That’s about right I say, take the vat off and you’re not far off that price. They haven’t been out long enough to show real depreciation
  16. I put a £200 deposit down £1800k first payment £234 per month £350 dealer contribution (cash back) i did order an estate with DSG, paint & ACC Edit* I ordered on that last week of October and the dealer is still updating me with build week 4
  17. Just out of interest but has anyone put the 245 on a Rolling road to see what it’s putting out as standard? I know vag sometimes quote the bhp a bit on the conservative side
  18. I’ve been put off by upgraded sound systems my old alfa had bose and over the standard system the improvements were minimal and my mini has the Harmon Kardon system and that’s not great either but sure technology has moved leaps and bounds since 2004 haha
  19. Will you not void the warranty if you change the oil on a new car?
  20. I ordered through Simpson’s Škoda Newcastle on the 1st of November. I’m in no rush and I don’t commute (works vehicle). I’ve got the mini to get me around but it’s a bit of a push for a family car. Me my wife, child (14) and a border collie in a Mini isn’t great in the long run haha. I was offered a great price for my vw tiguan so I had to take it I can wait a few months but if those few months of waiting turn into a cancellation then I won’t be a happy bloke.
  21. I originally wanted a golf R estate I looked at it and really liked it but out of curiosity I looked at the vrs 245 and loved it even more. For me it’s 90% getting somewhere fuss free and 10% fun I felt the golf would be more tiresome as I’d want to drive it as fast as I can all the time. Ive got a 230hp Mini Cooper s for fun! It weighs just over a ton and it’s a barrel of laughs. I’m after a cruiser that’s fun when I feel like it and the 245 was that motor
  22. I ordered mine on the 1st of November, if what I read is to be true and my order is cancelled I’ll go for a Cupra 300 st or maybe a golf R estate. It’s a shame really I really wanted this 245 vrs it’s discreet and different but I can only hope that my order has been placed * I ordered through a dealer if that makes any difference
  23. I did this mod to my old Tiguan and it worked perfectly, I stuck the sensor between the dash and windscreen so I couldn’t see it.
