That's ok thank you for your reply I thought I had been sent to Coventry, I have practically begged for help on here and been ignored I need to get to the door lock mechanism on the passenger side front it's been playing up for a while and when the door would not unlock I was panicking but I got I got it open. Twice I asked for help on this forum there are people that have done the job and MUST know I have spent hours on the internet trying to find out how to do it. If I do get it done I will not use this forum again!.

Hi As above how do I remove the end of the door handle on the passenger side as I need to unclip the cable to the lock mechanism. Thanks.

Hi Can anyone help please, I need to get to the passenger door lock I think I have the same problem, I have took off the door card and I think I have seen a topic showing how to get to it, I have spent ages searching on here and on youtube and can not find it. Also I seem to remember another topic on replacing the rivets with screws, I have seen videos removing the panel to get to the window winding mechanism but that is not really helping. Thanks.

When I changed mine it was tight, had to really push it hard for it to fit.

Ever since I fitted a cheap clutch kit (not on the Skoda) it taught me a lesson, after a week when it burned out!, only fitted genuine clutches after that.

I have all season tyres on too, and I was amazed how the car stopped. I use the engine as a brake coming up to lights and going downhill etc, a lot of people would say that is the old fashioned way, but I am old fashioned anyway LoL in every sense of the word. I too will be more abusive too from time to time.

Hi Yes I am a careful driver, the last car I owned the pads lasted 10 years I'm not a hard driver and yes it would be against all my instincts, but I think you are right I will try that tomorrow if the roads are dry and it's not raining. I changed the discs and pads last year for Brembo ones all round and I also changed the brake fluid.

Hi hope everyone had a good Christmas, Octavia mk2 1.6 Diesel Greenline 2010. The problem I have is the car judders when braking, just seems like a warped disc, I have had a warped disc before but on a different car, and I could feel the brake pedal going up and down, but on this car it doesn't do that, it's not from the back I went down a steep hill and pulled the hand brake on and that was smooth. I am going to have a look as the weather is supposed to turn warmer, just wondered if anyone could help with what the problem might be. Thank you.

Mine did the same just glued it back with some spray glue, I don't think there is any clips I could not find anywhere for clips to go. Having said that my car is a mk2 1.6 diesel Greenline but it looks the same.

Hi, Is the pump working can you hear it?. could be something simple like a blocked jet. If you have a wire brush pull one of the strands out with a pair of pliers and use it to poke the jet while someone works the wiper. Not too Sure about VRS my mk2 is the one that has the water go through the motor I had to change my motor as it had rusted and that was blocking the jet.

Wish I had known that about the emulator/simulator I had mine done 6 years ago perhaps they was not around then. I had my EGR electronically closed only for it to open 5 years later the car was in a right state didn't know what it was, after spending pounds on air flow meters n75 valves having the turbo cleaned ending up having to take it to a specialist who found out what it was and physically blanked off the EGR at the throttle body.

When had mine done I was told that the EGR does have something to do with the DPF and I had to have both done.

Hi fitted the water pump all the pulleys and the belt that was a sod to get on, figured out the timing turned the crank with a spanner no interference, made sure everything was clear, and went for it, it started first turn of the key and ran perfectly!!, what a relief actually brought me to tears. Could not get the bolt undone from the crank to change the oil seal, so put the engine mount back on took it to a local garage that had one of those hammer guns that undid it, so I will be changing the oil seal tomorrow and putting it back together, I know it means taking the belt off again but at least I know the engine is ok. Thanks to everyone that commented and gave advice. It's been quite a journey and an emotional one as well.

Hi Well spent most of the day stripping it down, It was the water pump it collapsed shredding the belt I got the timing tools does the one on the crank look right?. also I am going to have to change the oil seal on the crank where the pully is what is that like to change?. it is leaking then its put the pump and the belt on see if I can rotate the crank with a spanner without any interference and fingers crossed see if it starts. What is the oil seal like to change on the crank pully?.

Hi, I have got the timing tools, the only thing I don't know what to do is time the crank pully?, on youtube videos they show fitting the timing tool on the crank while the belt is still on obviously mine isn't I can't find any instructions is there any timing marks on the pully?, how do I time it. Thank You. Stripping it down today at least the weather is nice.

OK so I have decided to have a go at stripping it tomorrow I've been looking at youtube videos doesn't look too bad a job, I don't have the timing tools but there is plenty of mobile mechanics out there when I strip it I will call one and ask them to fit the belt, I also know a couple of people in the trade that might do it, I was a time served mechanic I worked on Citroens but that is nearly 50 years ago I have all the tools apart from the timing tools, as you say I might have got away with it, so get a belt kit and pump get it fitted start it up see what happens?.

Hi When the engine cut out not really thinking I did try to start it and there wasn't any knocking or banging noises. Going to ring round tomorrow see if I can get someone to check it asap.

Hi, Thanks to everyone that has commented hopefully I will get the car looked at this week, if it means another engine I am not going that far , I have loved and cherished that car it looks like new just spent £550 on having the wheels re powder coated and new tyres I am always spending money on it. I was fortunate to have the car given to me by my brother in the first place that's 6 years ago when it only had 9000 miles on the clock!. Yesterday was a sad day and I don't feel much better today, I have a good friend that is going to lone me a car until I get things sorted one way or the other. I will update when I know more.
