When I started this thread on January 3rd 2020 I had no idea I would be driving my wife's Karoq more than her from March 23rd due to lockdown and her now working almost entirely from home. Therefore thought I would share the last 4 fills of the 148bhp small SUV with a manual gearbox and 1.5TSi ACT engine. 468 miles 41.00 litres cost £40.96 @51.88 mpg. 364 miles 33.00 litres cost £32.97 @50.14 mpg. 479 miles 42.00 litres cost £42.38 @51.84 mpg. 423 miles 37.42 litres cost £40.00 @51.40 mpg. Think this demonstrates that a petrol Karoq enjoys a good motorway cruise rather than driving in stop/start city traffic and my consistent driving style not varying between 1.7 mpg from worst to best. Back in the Superb on Saturday and may drive it for all 5 shifts I have coming up before the short holiday in the Lake District next week.

Cleaned the inside of all 4 door apertures with a vinegar cleaner and the kitchen towel paper I used to wipe away the grime looked like crushed coal dipped in water.......disgusting. Should have done this small job in late March to remove the winter grime but being a black car it sort of hides the dirt on the inside. Now I can appreciate the sparkly Black Magic paint when I open any door now. I tend to clean the boot aperture more often as I see it every time the boot is opened (electrically of course). Noticed the lettering of Superb is not of a very high quality on all 4 door sill protectors compared to my 2017 Octavia Vrs though.

Welcome to the forum although I live in NW Leicestershire I make the 27 mile each way commute to Magna Park which I have been doing on and off since July 1991. Did you get the 150 or 190PS diesel and although I have the Columbus with the 9.2" screen I don't really use many of it's functions with my I Phone 6S because I listen to Planet Rock on the DAB. You will love the space and practicality that the Superb offers.

As you guys point out not only is the NZ Kodiaq Vrs cheaper to buy but much better specced and with your diesel costing much less than petrol I understand why it is popular in NZ compared to the UK. Our version has a silly price plus is burdened with near £500 road tax for the first 5 years and of course diesel costs more than petrol in the UK so running one here is likely to work out expensive compared to even my 268Kw Superb which costs £150 per year road tax and has averaged 39.13mpg over 6,000 miles in 7 months.

Our petrol Karoq was showing 49mpg over 3,100 miles from 93 hours driving on the Long Term maxidot this morning (148bhp ACT).

Having owned two diesels in 2014, Octavia and Superb 2.0Tdi the only reason was the cheaper road tax but since April 2017 there has been zero incentive plus VW Group fitting emissions devices to corrupt the results in the labs. Our current Karoq seems to give better mpg than most diesel Karoq's on here which is confusing as diesel is supposed to offer better economy. Wife's 148bhp petrol SUV has 144gm/co2 compared to the 2.0 ltre diesel 143gm/co2. The SE petrol is also £2,300 cheaper than the SE diesel.

Might watch it myself with the wife tonight as I've got 3 days off now to chill and watch the forecasted rain tomorrow.

You've not lived unless you've watched Days of Thunder (Tom Cruise doesn't make bad films and does most of his own stunts) with a cold beer. I even forced SWMBO to watch it once but then she likes Tom as most ladies do despite his lack of vertical meterage.

Most people would expect some level of refinement when spending over £45,000 on a new SUV.

It's just a useful guide because I remember coming out of Heathrow Airport a few years ago and we should have been heading North (N) on the M25 but noticed the arrow was showing South so we were heading in the wrong direction and had to turn around at the next available junction.

The last 4 words amused me. Kodiaq's are bloody tractors. And heavy ones at that. The fake piped in noise is worse in a diesel because as you approach 5,000rpm they sound like like they about to implode. Then there is the issue of extra expense adding the AdBlue. Let's face it diesels are designed to pull trailers behind HGV's and pull Caravans mostly which they are good at with maximum torque usually around 1,500rpm.

Never understand if I live until the Queen sends me a Birthday Card why anyone would want to make their car use more fuel and pollute the enviroment more when the battery has been specially beefed up to cope with the extra demands placed on it. And people wonder why in the last 6 commutes using with wife's Karoq 1.5TSi manual with stop/start active it managed a 63.2 and 63.8mpg over 27 miles. Try getting that with it disabled and see what difference it makes to your wallet. Over the last 4 weeks it has used just £40 of unleaded.

Shouldn't be a problem if the SEAT Dealer is prepared to do the work or are worried about VW HQ at Milton Keynes finding out and taking the franchise away from them. Once got our 1 year old KIA Picanto serviced at a SAAB dealer because they quoted £125 for the first service using KIA Parts whereas the supplying dealer wanted over £190. When the KIA garage moved and I visited to see about the cost of a second service I was chatting to the new Dealer Principal and explained why I had gone elsewhere and his response was to send me a letter offering the 2nd and 3rd services for free as an apology for losing our custom which I accepted which resulted in 3 years of very cheap motoring.👍

Love to but working 06:00 until 18:00 next Saturday and Sunday and the following weekend in Cumbria on holiday. The 1 mile straight line event would suit the 4WD and 360bhp and would reach 160mph for sure in 6th gear because the factory limiter has not been removed I discovered twice recently. 12 Mpg at max velocity BTW.

With respect that is dealer bull**it because my wife's Karoq had its first free service at 18,700 miles when the computer said it was ready and they sent me a text the other day to say the second free service is now due just 9 months after the first service last October. Her car is now 30 months old and on 26,000 miles and the computer says it's not due a service for another 10,000 miles. My Superb also came with 2 free services and is 16 months old and done 11,000 miles and the first service according to the onboard computer is due in around 5 months at 16,000 miles or 21 months after registration. They just want you to get the car serviced more often to extract maximum cash from your wallet. I have been using Skoda dealers for the last 15 years and this tactic never changes.

I had to overtake a 2007 Audi A4 (probably Euro 4 ) diesel the other day because of the plumes of diesel soot he was shooting out of both exhausts every time it accelerated. Can't believe it passed an MOT in that state TBH.

Scary price if his estimate is accurate £40,000-£60,000.

The ACT on the wife's Karoq 1.5TSi engine is incredibly effective at saving fuel and the last 5 commutes have given 63, 53, 55, 52 and 63mpg indicated on maxidot. The two lowest figures are going home when I'm tired after a 12 hour night shift and generally uphill so less chance of the ACT cutting in and running on just 2 cylinders. Think the only 2 mods I will do on the Karoq this year are to fit my old Vega 8J x 19 alloys from the Superb with 235/40R19 Bridgestone tyres to give it more grip in the corners and to handle a remap probably in November when I will start filling it with 99 octane Shell V-Power Nitro+ as the 3 year warranty runs out next January and the car is not covering more than 6,000 miles per year as she is working locally or from home so the extra cost is not an issue as it is only using 1 tank per month and a 1,350kg Karoq will be even more fun with 190bhp.😄

The fact that 600bhp in a Golf R is possible with no internal engine mods required is testament to the inherent strength of the EA888 engine. Much as I would like 400bhp at least I can't justify the expense on hardware of getting there and my car is great to drive and the economy improvement means I'm in the sweet spot for me anyway if not you guys and your need for speed to quote "Days of Thunder".👍

Know what you mean after having an Airtec intercooler fitted to my Vrs245 back in 2018. Once bitten twice shy as they say. Make sure you haven't lost any gas from the air con by checking the climate control still blows cold air. The latest factory refrigerant is very expensive to replace.
