Just looked at the Skoda configurator and 3 items that were standard on the Karoq SEL are optional extras on the Kodiaq SEL and it came to over £38,000 for the extra 40bhp, DSG and 4WD which is a big premium for 2 extra seats. Reversing camera, rear picnic tables and silver roof rails cost extra on the premium Kodiaq. Hard to work that one out.

Perhaps you've got used to the hard plastics all over the Kodiaq then?

I totally agree with you having spent many hours in our 30 month old Karoq (26,200 miles so far) the interior quality of the smaller Skoda SUV is much higher (almost as nice as my 2019 Superb Sportline) than that of the larger Kodiaq. You can see and feel the cost savings yet they have the nerve to charge thousands more for slightly more interior space and a bigger boot. Needless to say having been a long time Skoda customer I wouldn't buy any Kodiaq until they improve the interior quality.

Couple of points sounds like you have the 190 diesel and there is probably more lag on your car than my 363PS petrol but roundabouts are about anticipation of other traffic and planning ahead so if you need to stop completely try to brake gently and the stop/start won't kick in so often. Harsher braking is more likely to trigger the S/S and you're right even on 19" alloys with 235/35/R19 Michelin Pilot Sport tyres on my car (standard size is 235/40R19) the ride is still excellent and I don't have the optional DCC fitted either. I cover about 90km per day in my petrol car averaging 39.45mpg (best of 49.3mpg) and I'm on variable servicing. After close to 18,000km in 16 months my car is still saying that the first service is due in 4 months time at about 26,000km which makes for very cheap maintenance. I would stick with variable servicing with your car due to the amount of motorway driving you do like me. Glad you're happy with the car so far.

Karoq has either sliding or removeable rear seats from SEL spec upwards which makes it very practical. I'm 6 feet tall and there is enough room for a 6 foot passenger behind me. Depends whether you are using the 3 back seats plus need the 650 litre Kodiaq boot. When you remove the Karoq's back seats like the Yeti it turns into a decent sized van.

Do you need something as big as the Kodiaq or is 7 seats important? The wife's 2018 Karoq SEL has nice alcantara sport heated front seats, sat nav, front/rear parking sensors and a reversing camera with a manual gearbox and economical 1.5TSi petrol engine with 148bhp (150PS) and it has covered 26,000 miles reliably in the 30 months we have owned it and new it was £23,500 on a 67 plate and I would think dealers sell them for around £16,500 now. Just a thought and the interior quality is superior to the Kodiaq if you look closely and nearly a match for my 2019 Superb.

Not sure where the phone charging port is on the Kodiaq either in front of the gearlever or in the front cubby/storage box between the seats.

Uses the Bluetooth on your phone and projects onto the info screen using Smartlink so all the icons on your phone are available to use. A good salesperson will talk you through it and even set it up for you. Any other cost options you might want just ask as I have the Kodiaq configurator open on my computer at work at the moment.

It's a £375 option on the SE but you could use the maps from your phone.

My Superb is currently worth 2.6 million Kenyan shillings so the wife's family think I must be loaded.

Last 3 commutes giving a solid 41/42/39mpg which is reflected in the Long Term maxidot which was showing 1,501 miles covered at 45mph average in 33 hours 31 minutes today. Still faultless after more than 7 months and a Mk7 Golf GTi owner (either 227 or 242bhp) was shown the rear 4 x 4 badge going up the motorway slip road earlier causing much confusion no doubt.Long Term maxidot average showing 40.3mpg.

Just wondering why you are asking this question in the Superb section when you say your new car is a Kodiaq?

Judging by his number plate he went for the older non GPF model with 310PS as standard and he confirmed he's likely to press the button on stage 2 which comes with a free stage 2 map from REVO. Although he has to haul around 4 chunky tailpipes he had kept the standard 18" (Cadiz) alloys to keep the weight down. Guess the Golf estate would be around 1,575kg.

Well I always do my bit for the planet by always walking to the local shops to buy food and swapping our tyres around rather than drive to a tyre fitter. Even going to recycle @penguin17 Michelin used tyres that he fitted to his Superb 280 before deciding to buy his Golf R estate instead. My days on Brisky are now limited inorder to save the planet's electricity for those driving Tesla's, Zoe's and Corsa E's. Good luck with the tree planting and general looking after the planet as we only had one last time I checked. Recent trip to Lake District and Scotland consumed £59.93 of Tesco's Finest Momentum and we walked 16 miles in total and left the car parked at the Hotel.

Bought something that could actually put 300bhp down onto the tarmac whether it is wet or dry surface and no more traction issues and the penalty for 4WD grip is about 1mpg over 6,771 miles since last December.

Should have mentioned I used the ACC much more than usual on this trip (mainly on M6) and was surprised by how much I liked it and it had very little effect on economy having set it at 61mph (about 100kph) and car showing 1,750rpm in 7th gear.

That's only an option in Sweden.
