Saw a Blue Mk2 Fabia Vrs with white alloys on a 63 plate in Braithwaite, Cumbria last weekend on a 63 plate looked like a local resident.

If range is important @penguin17 told me his Golf R estate takes 53 litres of Tesco Momentum and does 0-60mph in 3.67 seconds due to 383bhp and confirmed with DRAGY and 0-100mph in just over 9 seconds. The Superb Sportline ESTATE has a 66 litre capacity so a greater range. Maximum range in my stage 1 Superb 272 is 730 miles (48.1 mpg).

To answer a question of whether a Golf R estate can be more practical than a 272 hatch then the answer is yes. Today at Penrith @penguin17 brought 4 tyres standing up in the boot of his Golf R estate which were 235/40R19 wide yet I could only get 3 in the boot of my 272 hatch and one had to go on the back seat even with the parcel shelf stowed behind the back seat. In theory the 272 hatch may have more litres of space but the Golf R estate has a more useful and practical shape as I saw demonstrated today.

Max could have won if he could have predicted all the tyre problems about to happen but bagged the extra point for fastest lap and Lewis now 30 points ahead of Bottas after he slipped from 2nd to 11th with 2 laps to go. Sainz also suffering and losing points dropping from 4th and Vettel only managing 10th compared to his team mates podium (3rd).

Went to Gretna Gateway shopping centre on Saturday for some retail therapy bought wife some clothes and shoes and treated myself also and must have spent just over £200 but saved about £300 due to some cracking bargains in Nike, Next and Trespass shops. Collected the 4 Michelin lightly used tyres from @penguin17 and saw his stage 1 Golf R estate in white and his Revo map gave a strong 383bhp and over 500nm of torque. What a fantastic guy he is and very punctual arriving seconds after us as we parked at Penrith B & Q. He even threw in 3 freebies from his 280 hatch which would have cost me over £100 from a Skoda dealer to help protect the interior of my car. A true gent and I got that impression chatting to him on Briskoda and he will be a credit to the Golf R forums going forward. Came home a slightly different route so ended up clocking up 507 miles in just over 10 hours driving including the day trip into Scotland at an average of 50mph for the whole trip and filled with Tesco Momentum like on Friday before we left for an overall 44.55mpg and after 6,771 miles the car has now averaged 39.45mpg. Even my wife complemented the car on how comfortable the seats, ride and low noise from the Michelin Pilot Sport tyres on the whole journey saying it was much more comfortable than my previous car the Octavia Vrs245 on trips to Cardiff and The Isle of Wight and just as economical.

After a near 4 hour drive the wife decided we needed a short walk so nearly 6 hours and 13.5 miles later (21.6km) we returned to our hotel. It was only 28C in the Lake District.

Hopefully the M6 from J16 to J40 northbound will be free of idiots and vehicles that catch fire tomorrow morning. Check in again Sunday evening or Monday morning with my nearly new tyres from @penguin17.

@Redboy I'm the same with the paddles in 7 months and over 6,000 miles I haven't ever needed to use the paddles to change gear and I've probably used Sport mode twice because even in Eco it's very fast since the remap in early Feb 2020. I'm also a sucker for the coasting function in Eco and like lifting off as I approach the 14 roundabouts on my commute and like seeing the revs drop to 800rpm and the fuel savings by simply doing nothing than the DSG putting itself into neutral effectively. We have decided to leave earlier tomorrow morning for our short break in Cumbria and this will be the longest trip the Superb has done this year with around 210 miles to our Hotel. Might take a photo of the range left when we get there and it should be in the 470-490 range judging by the only other time it left the County back when I went to AmD in Essex for the remap.

When the Karoq Long Term economy reset itself tonight the final 6 miles before I arrived at work gave an average of 66.6mpg which might prove difficult to maintain during the next 6 months (one tank of 500 miles per month now).

When you are going uphill even on a motorway the ECU will instruct the engine to fire more fuel into the engine to say maintain 70mph but controlling the speed yourself you could lift off going downhill saving fuel and gradually ease of the throttle going uphill if you have sufficient speed before you hit the climb. You should gain going downhill and lose going uphill but the electronics are not that clever they are just trying to maintain the input speed selected by the driver. Any Advanced Driving Instructor would understand the theory and put it into practice.

Wife uses CC but I never bother unless its miles of 50mph roadworks. Aircon always on and always in Sport as our early car remembers this setting every time we start the car. Try to activate the ACT as much as I can because it works even in Sport but our manual doesn't have the coasting function of the DSG models.

Got a high 57mpg on tonight's 27 mile commute, but the wife did a total of 60 miles the other day and averaged 41mpg, hence the 49mpg average.

Not long to wait🕥 until BMW launch the all electric 5 Series with first deliveries due in 2023.

After 30 months and 3 days our 1.5TSi manual Karoq SEL has now been driven for 1,000 hours at an average of 26.2 mph (26,200 miles so far on the original Michelin tyres) and for the last 100 hours it averaged a very reasonable 49.0mpg.

Must be a first for F1 three races in Italy this year?

Pretty sure the Sportline seats are alcantara in the centre and fake (faux) leather on the edges and headrest sections. No cows were harmed during the production of these Superb vehicles. They are easy to wipe down if that is a concern and even the door cards are covered in the lovely suede type stuff. Ambient lighting across the dash when you open the car and all 4 doors makes for a very nice ambience for all occupants as well as LED footwell lighting for evening journeys. It's all very soothing until you stamp on the loud (or quiet in the 272) pedal then all hell breaks loose (except only on gravel roads).

The Amundsen has an 8" screen with one knob either side on facelift 2017 models. The earlier 220/230 models from 2013-2016 have physical buttons for NAV and early cars NAV was an option as I bought a Jan 2015 which didn't have NAV. Later facelift cars could have a bigger 9.2" optional Columbus system which was expensive and Canton is extra on all Vrs models but standard on the luxury L & K models.

We had the same issue with the wife's Jan 2018 Karoq SEL last October and Skoda Dealer admitted both key fobs were faulty and new ones were ordered from the factory which took 2 weeks. This was all under warranty and had to go back for 30 minutes to let them code the new fobs to the car and touch wood we have had no problems with the replacement key fobs since then that was 7,000 miles ago. Car is now 30 months old and just over 26,000 miles covered.

Not sure what your budget is but given what you may need to squeeze into your next car it might pay you to try a used (under 1 year old with 2 years warranty left) Octavia estate or Superb estate then everyone will be happy with the space available. Welcome to the forum and the Skoda family.
