  1. NinjaAlex thanks for the help with this I dont have tools to measure the size required (diameter) without taking the spring out and cant see when I would get time to do that ATM. As for poundage I have no idea but closer to 100 sounds better, 60? any advance on 60? I clueless really, what pound rating is the main spring? Is it written on like with bikes? think its only a part number thats written on it? Been away few days and have 500 mile to do tomorrow  mainly motorway so should be fairly quiet
  2. Yeah I know it says helper springs included but you dont get any for Fabia, I rang up and complained to my supplier and was basically told they are fine and given AP's number if I wanted to take it any further, which I didn't cos was pacified enough and I got them less than £300 on the introductory offer too, but less noise would be good. They are great tho, car is well stable at speed and can chuck it into corners too + lowering = big grins!
  3. I have some discs and will be passing thru the Yorkshire area tomorrow evening, only thing is I have just promised them to someone else, maybe you can pass them on? How have you managed to get the bush further in without the right tools, you are doing well!
  4. Apparently it is to do with the top mounts (this is what I was told when I rang to complain there was no helper spring as described) but I dont know exactly what the problem is? Wider diameter at top of spring/3 bolt mount? Cant recall exactly what I was told but was enough to pacify me
  5. Have exactly the same problem with mine, so changed the top mounts and bearings, guess what? Still does it! Where can the helper springs and collars be got from, any Eibach stockist? Nice one btw
  6. I'll check on the percentage wear but prob is around 10%, hardly noticeable to the eye its just when you get the tyre depth gauge out that you see it. Sadly camber is not adjustable I have found out, its only possible to balance it out with a move of the subframe (I think) but mine is pretty close at -1'24' and -1'30 left and right respectively. I guess all I can do is keep an eye on tyre wear and juggle tyres around to compensate. Thanks a lot for your help with this
  7. Yeah you'll be ok with that paint mate, I am doing some wheels atm. I have stripped mine down and sanded and with a few coats it looks great, have also done the face of the wheels and if you put on quite thick it just flows into the brush marks and looks ok, just get a posh finishing brush for the places on show. It will take a lot longer than you think but I say is well worth it for the price of paint and a couple brushes
  8. Wow I am glad to find this thread and hope you can help me out, I'll try cut and paste my query in 'ask a tech to here for you, its a fabia vrs. I have both fronts wearing more on the inside, about 2mm when rest of tyre is 4-5mm. Have just had tracking checked (four wheel laser) and its been set at 2mm (each wheel) when factory reccomended is 1mm, however I seem to recall seeing 'set at zero' being the advice on here but that would mean even more wear on inside? Should I have it set at 3mm? or more?? Had a 'full geo' when I fitted coilovers and it didnt show anything too far out, camber is 1.5 degrees both sides and caster is 5'12' and 5'30'. Should I try get the camber down to about 1 degree? Hope someone can help as its costing me money in tyres, this is second set cos I thought it was all ok, T1-Rs and now Pilot Exaltos only done 10k on both of them. There it is and I can provide printout if you need would be amazing if I can be told exactly what is wrong
  9. I paid out for a full alignment after fitting console bushes (nearly £80) and it was the biggest waste of money ever, they seemed to overlook the reason it was being done and the tyres were scrubbed just a few thou later Just get the front tracked with a decent laser system, £25 squid at my local ATS. Gordons tyres in Wakefield do a full alignment check but dont charge if there is no adjustment necescary which is what the other places should do IMO and they are much cheaper if you do need anything adjusting. http://www.gordonstyres.co.uk/pages/gordons_wakefield.htm
  10. I just checked my diary and the only weekend I have booked for the rest of the year is this one for a friend's 50th birthday, so I cant make it sorry. What a pain I have just been planning on the drive in to work - oil change, brake fluid change, fit torque link, maybe a couple of new tyres, finally get round to that home build FMIC, visit castle in Nurburg... Have fun guys
  11. I may be a +1, need to check and get back, leave as is for now.
  12. I'd like to go again if I'm welcome I promise to spend all my laps, not block anyone on the ring and not attack anyone when drunk (which will be unlikrly cos I stopped drinking soon after last years trip in an attempt to sort my life out) What do you reckon?
  13. I have them on my black car, with a black grill surround and coilovers and a 3 inch spike for an aerial, oh and debadged too, think it looks good
  14. Mine have gone long ago, they never seemed to meet up with other doors like you think they would? Yeah I had the dreaded white lines after removal but these have since disappeared with no direct input from me  but
  15. Looks good and will look even better soon Side strips? or is that part of the red/black theme.
  16. You need proper alloy wheel bolts for the vrs wheels, the clamping part of the bolt tapers from the thread up to the bolt head, if your bolts are not like this you need some more, they are about £1.70 each on ebay but try your local Skoda dealer?
  17. What's the maximum you can get away with on OE wheel and standard 205/45 rubber with no arch mods? Also I got some wheels that are ET42 (were advertised as ET38) will they go on Fabia VRS with 312s without any spacers until I get round to fitting some? (they are the OE TT brakes) Cheers.
  18. Thought I would ressurect this thread. It has all the info I need and it might be useful for other members. Also, should it be moved to Technical Guides?
  19. I had the hard one for some time, then drilled too many holes in it So I got the soft bush fitted and its just as bad as before :thumbdwn: This only happens at idle, once above 1000rpm it goes. Mine lives on a shelf at the moment but I may have another go with it at some point.
  20. No search needed, the hesitation thread is at the top of Fabia 1 in the Sticky threads. Just fit the 9mm gasket, I've done 30k with mine fitted now, smooth as.
  21. OK I see now, could be useful to some and good to hear that it actually works for so cheap
  22. So, you can write your original factory map to the ecu from the files on their cds? (after you have read and saved your remap of course?) its a bit tempting...
  23. Thats a bargain! I have just returned from an ebay turbo deal in a car park, the shaft had so much play it was nearly touching the housing. Hope my refund goes ok! :(
  24. I definiteley noticed a difference with mine but like mathepac says above, you dont actually need it like you need an antiroll bar and its this that should be first on the list if you have a standard car on the subject I have a lower brace sat in kitchen waiting to be fitted - it certainly looks good have read on here you should do both, guess i will find out
