the truth about electric cars
I think to feel superior on this issue, you need to be driving around in a vehicle that you've convinced yourself is somehow fighting climate change.

the truth about electric cars
I literally used the numbers you provided @wyx087. 🤣 It's NOT the same search parameters. Up to 500 miles and registered in 2023 was my search criteria. If you move the goalposts, you get different results. 🤷♂️

the truth about electric cars
Aside from the banter, if there are delivery mileage 2 year-old ICE vehicles knocking about in the system, and it seems there are, how freaking stupid do you have to be to pre-register ICE cars with EV sales targets hanging over you?

Now that's funny! 😄

See my post just above yours. Those are cars with under 500 miles since 2023. Some dealer in Corby really got rinsed on Mazda MX30s. 😄

the truth about electric cars
Anyone who can! 😄 There's no such thing as a free lunch. These vehicles cost money to build, and there's an environmental cost associated with their manufacture too. Big depreciation might be all well and good for the people who gain from it, as might artificially inflated prices if you sell at the right time, but for every winner there's a loser.

the truth about electric cars
Back on topic, I've been watching a few of the counter-EV channels on YouTube, and one recurring point they are driving home is the second-hand market. Barrie Crampton trawls through AutoTrader looking for examples of EVs that are little more than delivery mileage but are a couple of years old. It seems to me that this is only going to increase, as I assume there were a shedload of EVs registered at the end of 2024 to beat the deadline and duck the EU punishment for failing to sell enough EVs in 2024. Unless @wyx087 ups his game in 2025, I suspect there will be an increasingly large bow-wave of unused but second-hand EVs that will hit the market. 😋 (I'm joking!) That's great news for people who get a free car by one way or another, or for someone who wants to buy an EV. But for anyone looking to lease an EV in the future, the cost of leasing an EV is likely to rocket as lease companies pre-load EVs with depreciation. Not to mention early-adopters who bought an EV. 😬

the truth about electric cars
Absolutely, and suggesting there is is against the T&Cs of this place. Yeah, but I've seen all this before with the COVID-19 vaccinations. The official narrative on the COVID-19 vaccines was the word of God, and anyone saying anything other than the vaccines were the answer to the COVID pandemic got shrieked down. Dissenters were called "vaccine-deniers", much as anyone who dissents from the climate narrative is called a "climate-denier". It was an enforced consensus, which is to say, it was NOT a consensus, it was a narrative. (I've even shown you evidence of that enforced narrative.) It was a little frustrating and bemusing, but IRL, it didn't bother me in the slightest. I didn't get any of the COVID-19 vaccinations and am increasingly glad I didn't. However the information I used to reach my conclusion that I shouldn't get the COVID-19 vaccinations would not have passed your "Source!!!!?!!!" test. That does not make the decision I made based on that information incorrect. Nice idea, but such a thread would be shrieked into oblivion by the clique. Example: "The Elphant in the room" thread (with hilarious irony, given the premise of the thread) is now itself, conspicuous by its absence. You have to laugh! 😄

Check starter service
Do you know the purpose of the red wire? Have you removed it completely from the car,or just disconnected it from making contact with the fuse? That wire squeezed into the fusebox is a remarkably inept bodge of a modification to inflict on a 2019 vehicle, IMO. 🤨

the truth about electric cars
So what? 🤷♂️ Hmmm. So no mainstream media outlets as a rule then, who almost invariably fail to provide links to peer-reviewed papers. Okay, what are the scientific journals that would meet with your approval? Enforced consensus is no consensus at all. Ugh! 🙄 Look, if there's to be a climate change "consensus" enforced on Briskoda, then fine. You're not going to force me to do anything IRL, but if that's how this place is going to be run, then so be it. We had the COVID vaccine "consensus" enforced on here, so it won't be the first time a "consensus" has been imposed on Briskoda. If that's how it is going to be, so be it. Let's just have a clear ruling on it.

Replacing 19" alloys for 17" alloys to improve comfort
Be cautious about getting rid of your wheels if you ever intend to sell your Sportline. If you're going to run it into the ground, then no worries. If you're going to sell it, buyers may expect it to have 19" wheels, if that's what's standard.

the truth about electric cars
Everyone can see what we've both written and make their own minds up. Threatening to have me silenced on here doesn't do much for your insistence that dissent on this issue is not ruthlessly suppressed, does it?
-
the truth about electric cars
Given the shrieking over Elon Musk reducing censorship on Twitter/X, and Zuckerberg's recent announcement that he's going to put an end to the crude censorship previously in place on Facebook, I think my statement about suppressing dissent is on solid ground. But you're welcome to disagree.

Without the subsidies and EV mandates, there would be no profiteering. Musk would have to compete on a level playing field. Edit: Definition of profiteering, for the confused. 😘

the truth about electric cars
No, the narrative was set out years ago and dissent ruthlessly suppressed. "We"? The 70 million people in the UK? Infinitely less of a problem than the 1.4 billion people in China? It's like sweeping the deck of the titanic instead of fixing the hull. Ooh! Is this one of those posts where you say you want to force people to change their lifestyle to suit your ideology, then shortly afterwards object to me pointing out you're trying to force people to change their lifestyles to suit your agenda? I'll say it yet again: Stop trying to force people to adopt your ideology. Persuasion would be acceptable, force is unacceptable.

Heater Matrix
I have a memory telling me upgraded water pumps are available, but I can't be any more specific than that. I don't even know if the "upgraded" pumps are any better than OEM. I think water pumps are almost regarded as a consumable now. Certainly when I had the cam belt on my Ford Fiesta changed, a new water pump was part of the cam belt kit. I know this because I asked for it to be changed with the cam belt and they told me "It's all part of the kit.". I'm going to get mine inspected at the next service, I have had a little drop in my coolant level, so I might have a leak somewhere.
