Old bottle of unused engine oil
You could treat a fence panel with it, maybe. Watch out for contaminating the soil, mind.

the truth about electric cars
I've just bought a replacement car for my wife and it got me thinking. I wonder, how many people on Briskoda actually own an EV, in that they actually committed their own money to buy and own an electric vehicle? I'm excluding lease contracts, Motability, and PCP contracts. I'm happy to count a car you ran under PCP and then bought at the end of the contract, and obviously HP and personal loans are just ways to finance ownership of a car. What I want to know is how many people on here actually OWN an electric vehicle. (And I mean a Battery Electric vehicle, not a plug-in or self-charging hybrid.) Anyone at all?

Time I owned up!
Hello! 😊 I like how the wheels look white to match the car in your pic.

Rubber v carpet vote...update as controversial mat debate rolls on!
5mm rubber mats. They last well, don't move about and I think they offer some soundproofing too. And given the weight of them, I think they probably lower the centre of gravity of the vehicle, too. 😄 https://www.amazon.co.uk/FSW-Compatible-Hatchback-Tailored-Waterproof/dp/B0DG6M3FPV?th=1

Video regarding insurance claims - Graham Butcher?
Yes I saw this a while ago. I even had it read out to me when I took out new insurance this weekend. "Your insurance premium may increase if you make a claim, even if you are not at fault.". Heads they win, tails you lose.

the truth about electric cars
EVs are just for wokies? Well I'm DEFINITELY not getting one then. 😋

the truth about electric cars
I've only seen one Tesla (or any EV for that matter, but it happened to be a Tesla) driven badly IRL. Some woman was weaving in and out of traffic like a loon on the M42. I understand the temptation to misbehave in them, the acceleration must be intoxicating, especially with most ICE cars substantially slower than you. But in my experience, EVs seem to be driven very responsibly, as a demographic.

Diplomacy with foreign countries on behalf of your own nation's people is what politicians are supposed to do. Making life hard for British people for the benefit of Ukrainians is outside the remit of British politicians, yet they take it upon themselves to do this. Perhaps not forever though, fingers crossed. 🤞

Having to plan your route around your car's charging needs feels like going back to using public transport.

How hard do you have to slam your tailgate? (related to damp/seals issue)
I have the hatch, which is obviously different, but I have two observations. Firstly, there are adjustable rubber bungs that can be screwed in and out to adjust how the boot closes. Make sure your bungs are adjusted correctly. They just screw in and out. Too far in, and they offer no shock absorbance and your boot can rattle on the catch. Too far out, and it's hard to close the boot as the rubber bung stops the latch locking properly without undue force. Secondly, there are some springy things that do "something" associated with the rear hatch. I'm not sure if you have them on the estate, but if you do, make sure they move freely. I had a sticky one which needed a bit of lube to get it moving correctly. I'd find I'd open the boot and there would be a sproingy click shortly after opening, as the spring thing overcame the resistance of the crud that was stopping it moving freely, and the thing sproinged to full extension. Both worth a look especially as they are quick and easy to check. Beyond that, those vents Occy mentioned might be worth investigating.

Removing A pillar trim Kamiq
My only experience of this is that it was a PITA to remove without damage and I gave up before breaking something. Edit: This was on an Octavia, but the aggro is much the same. I suspect that once you know exactly how it comes off, it's probably a lot easier to apply force in the right place and direction to get the trim off and back on again.

the truth about electric cars
I think that's been happening regardless @Ootohere. I'm on hardwire broadband and I have had the odd double/treble post. A look at an EV breaker's yard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgpw7DlC5ec

Tow Bar = a modification for insurance (roof rails too?)
A VIN decode might shed some light on this, but I think you'd need to know what the original spec was to see what the difference was. I didn't know my heated front seats were an option until I saw an SE-L without them and double-checked the spec.

the truth about electric cars
Ironically, the one way the drop in demand might be sustained is if awkward sods like me don't get an EV and so don't put additional strain on the network. Unless I transition into an affluent middle-class person, and put solar panels on my house, add battery storage and perhaps pop a wind-turbine in my garden. 😋

Surprise(?) Enyaq Facelift
It's interesting how design cues evolve, but characteristic features are retained to maintain brand familiarity. Different, but not unfamiliar. Not sure about the bonnet Logo changing to the Skoda name. I wonder if that's a subtle sign of a future change of brand? Also I like how the Enyaq has departed a little from the sharp angular designs that characterise a lot of EVs. It's like some manufacturers have agreed a "No curves on EVs!!" rule. 😄

At this rate, I can see me replacing the wife's increasingly temperamental Fiesta with a bargain EV, if I can bag the right deal.

dashboard/drive mode discrepancy
I think you were in DRIVE mode and knocked the selector back to toggle SPORT mode on. Knock it back again and it will toggle back to DRIVE and all will be well. But you seem to have worked that out yourself.
