  1. I got the above statement wrong. Pressing the nav icon on the infotainment screen does not bring up the nav screen between the dials on the VD. It's only when you start navigating to a destination that it changes the VD.
  2. Bugger off !! Only joking, you missed the bit where I said we have different cars i.e. I have a Kamiq and Bryfly has a Karoq. I also posted that my dealer reckons that some models have an embedded SD card and others don't, which is why Bryfly has been able to do a manual update and I have to wait for an OTA update. I find it hard to believe that some models have an embedded SD card, but I don't know any different, so I have to believe what the dealer says. VAG don't seem to be capable of keeping thing simple and keep muddying the waters. My wife bought a used MK8 Golf this year and the VW dealer who originally supplied it told me that map updates have to be done manually. Last weekend I briefly bumped into an aftersales manager from another dealership, who told me that updates for the Golf would be OTA. The VW website says they should be done manually - God, my head hurts !!
  3. Yes same happened to me, It would appear that as soon as you touch the Navigation icon on the infotainment screen, it automatically appears in the VD as well. Whilst slightly aggravating, inasmuch as we're not fully in control, I'm getting used to altering settings before I set off on a journey i.e. I turn off stop/start and lane assist before I start driving. The days of changing a setting and it remaining set are fast disappearing I'm afraid.
  4. Yours is an early model and there have been lots of glitches reported with the MIB3 system. There have been updates issued, so maybe yours is due one.
  5. I assume you know that you can change between 5 different screens. Have you got something different in the Monte Carlo display e.g. can you change mood lighting ?
  6. I don't understand what you mean, you must have the same Virtual screen that I have.
  7. You're welcome, we get there in the end usually. 👍
  8. Okay, I've been having a play and I've discovered some things. As usual, I found the Skoda manual hard to follow but it did lead me trying things which I'll try and explain (badly) here. First thing I found, was that the info that can be changed in the centre of each dial in Classic View via the infotainment system can also be done via the controls on the RHS of the steering wheel. This will be a rough explanation, you'll need to go and do it for yourself to learn all of the functions. To change what info you see in the centre of the dials in Classic View, long press the icon on RHs of steering wheel that looks like two small squares with a right facing arrow beside them. This will bring up options between the dials which you can the scroll between them with the scroll wheel and when you reach the one you want to try, press down on the scroll wheel. Each one you try (there's 4 of them) will change what you see in the centre of the main dials. It's also possible to get different data in the middle of the two dials. To access this, long press the button with a larger, left facing arrow on RHS of steering wheel. Once again, this will give you options, so use the scroll wheel to scroll through them and then press down on the scroll wheel to look at your chosen option. Rather than list all of the possible options, it will be easier if you go and have a play as I did to familiarise yourself with them. There may be other options that I've missed. I hope this is understandable and useful.
  9. The OP posted their question on Kamiq Forums as well, here's the thread which currently shows that it can be done, but as yet I'm not sure how, so I've asked Lofty (as you'll see) to tell us which buttons to press. I think Moonraker is right, it has to be done in conjunction with the Infotainment screen. https://www.kamiqforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=227&p=882#p882
  10. Smashing and thankyou, I'll have a look and a play around later today. It'll be interesting to see if it works in my 21 model.
  11. Wow, that's good news and you've certainly fared better than I did. Any chance you can tell us how to do it, or at least what to press and in what order so we can get to that part of the screen. The analogue screen in my previous Kodiaq was much easier than this.🤔
  12. Don't be so sure, just Google pics of Skoda virtual cockpit and you'll see different things on the standard view screen. On the standard view screen, which I assume is the one you refer to, this is what I see. Nothing there about fuel consumption and I've found no way to change that, That would be a good idea and you could also post a pic of your standard view showing us what you see.
  13. On the dash in my car, it only says SINCE START, not SINCE REFUELLING and a short press of the thumbwheel doesn't change anything. You are in Romania, so maybe your cars are configured differently. There are certainly a lot of differences between the same models that end up in different parts of the world.
  14. As an aside and off topic a bit, are you getting Over The Air navigation database updates i.e.mapping and if so, what's your most recent one?
  15. Okay, here's what I've found. I'm talking Kamiq here, things might be different in other models. The RHS thumbwheel alters nothing with regard to fuel consumption, it only alters things in the Driver Assist programme where you can scroll through the settings and turn them on/off with a press of the wheel. Apart from TRIP, TOTAL MILEAGE and TOTAL MILES REMAINING IN TANK, the only reference to fuel consumption on the digital dash is MPG SINCE START on LHS of screen and no amount of scroll wheel pressing and turning would change that. MPG SINCE START does not show on every screen and certainly not on the STANDARD screen that I normally use. Just above where MPG SINCE START shows, there's 3 little dashes which I think probably show current mpg since start when driving - I wasn't. Of course, there's obviously 3 different types of mpg to seen in the infotainment screen and that's what I use when I'm driving and it's relatively easy to arrow between them on the move. Somebody might know different, but that's all I could find.
  16. That's better 👍. I'll raise your hopes and say that I think what you're asking may be possible, but rein you in by also saying that since I bought my Kamiq in July I haven't driven it a lot, so I'm not as familiar with all of the settings as I'd like to be. I have found out very recently that refuelling does automatically reset some figures. I run my digital screen with two normal dials showing (as in an analogue dash) which gives very little other info. One of the other dash types does give more info, but I can't remember which one. If I get time later I'll have a fiddle, but I suspect someone brighter than me will have answered you by then.
  17. It was voiced somewhere here some months ago that there are moves afoot by Skoda to reinstate the manual downloading of maps via the Portal for those that can currently only get OTA updates. I asked if this was true during a call to the online chat facility. The operator seemed very non committal or didn't know the answer (it wasn't in their script 🤔) and said that I should keep an eye on a Skoda information site (didn't know there was one) to glean any future information.. Helpful - NOT ! They really don't do themselves any favours do they !
  18. There are sometimes mix ups and time wasted when people don't state which make and model they have and where they live. Models destined for different countries often have the onboard systems set up differently to the UK. I haven't researched this, but are UK SE models set up differently to SE L models. so e.g. telling what works in my SE L might not work in an SE. Just a thought.
  19. Apologies for posting on Kodiaq forum as I no longer have one. Someone will know more than me, but I've read in passing that radio logos can't be taken from the Portal and transferred to your car any longer. As for mapping updates if you didn't see my reply on another thread yesterday and this was from my dealer, so believe it or not. Some models of Skoda have an embedded SD card and those that have can receive manual updates from the Portal. They weren't specific about which models have the SD card. The update Portal allows me to input the VIN for my Kamiq that has MIB3 and then directs me to the mapping I need and lets me download it, but when unzipped to a flash drive and put into the car, nothing happens. The dealer said that's because my Kamiq doesn't have the imbedded SD card and can only be updated OTA. Another member here with a Karoq and MIB3 has managed to update his maps manually, so if the dealer is correct about SD cards, the the Karoq must have one. I've no idea if the Kodiaq has an SD card embedded, so asking a dealer or trying a manual download yourself would be the ways to find out, But since your car is a 2020 model and you show that you have 2021 mapping on your settings screen, I'd assume you're getting OTA updates. Logic dictates that if your car is set up for OTA, then you won't be able to update manually. I could be wrong here though as logic seems to play little part in the VAG system. I saw it mentioned somewhere yesterday that dealers are supposed to to plug your car into their system when it's in for service etc and the maps update that way. I very much doubt they do, as the only way to continue to get OTA is to be a Skoda Connect member, which is payable after the first free year, so they would lose revenue by doing it free. The update Portal is flawed, as at no stage did the system tell me It wasn't possible to update my maps manually, it just let me go ahead even though it knew my VIN.
  20. Yes, I believe that's the case, which is why I wanted to get at least one update done because I doubt I'll be paying when mine runs out. Other than map updates, I see little value in Skoda Connect except maybe being able to unlock your car via the phone app if you've left your keys in the car and it's locked itself, although I'm not even sure it's possible to lock yourself out. I'm hoping Skoda will see sense and once again let us do map updates manually.
  21. This may or not be helpful. I have the 775 footpack which are these. If I measure from the inside of the ROOF RAIL to end of the foot i.e. the inner part of the foot that concerns you, it's 40mm If you have the other type of fitting that just clamps onto the rails like this below, then it might be worth measuring yours to see if there if there's any/enough difference between them for your tent to fit. If my foot measurement is more than 12.5mm less than yours then the 775's would work if you can get them where you are.
  22. Even then it didn't mention that the little dialogue box would appear on the Portal screen stating that the download wasn't available and then left you to figure out how to get round it. I perhaps find it more irksome than most because I have German heritage and was bought up to get things right. Maybe VAG farmed out the software programming to Outer Mongolia or Oz 😉.
  23. I've waited until now to reply to see if my maps would update after running the car for some time. The answer is NO and I did do everything correctly. As for mountains and molehills, I don't think so as VAG has really complicated by making things work in different ways in different countries and also different models of Skoda in the same country, even though they have an MIB3 system. I am told once again today by the Skoda UK online chat line that mapping updates can only be done in a Kamiq via OTA in the UK. This was also backed up by my dealer and to do this we have to be signed up to Skoda Connect and also be logged into the infotainment system as the Primary User. Once this is done, updates will not necessarily be immediate and they will be dependent on when they are released by Skoda. I told my dealer that Bryfly had managed to do it, but I'd only realised today that he has a Karoq, not a Kamiq. The dealer said that although different models may have the MIB3 system, some have an imbedded SD card (not to be confused with an embedded e sim). A manual update will work in car that has an embedded SD card, but not in a car without one e.g. the Kamiq. I cannot speak for other countries, except to say that I already knew that parameters differed between countries, which I pointed out before, so I have to assume that you in OZ have an SD card in the Kamiq, or maybe it's to do with your mapping being much smaller. Anyway, it would appear that I wasn't logged in as the primary user in my car, which is probably why I've received no updates. I've now rectified that and already I've been allowed access to the shop and have made a free purchase of Traffication, so hopefully, mapping updates will follow in the fullness of time. Once again mentioning mountains and molehills, I think it's a bloody poor show that VAG not only makes it complicated to do these things, but they don't give us enough info to make updates (in this case) easy to to do and understand. And don't forget Exkiwi, not everybody on the planet who buys a new car has your knowledge of computers, so what might come easy to you doesn't to them. As for implying I'm thick, I did everything correctly following the Portal instructions, plus those from you and Bryfly. There just wasn't any info available to tell me that these instructions wouldn't work in a UK Kamiq. A poor show on their part I think and this is echoed by many other owners here in the UK.
  24. It wasn't my intention to hijack a thread, but I saw the pic of Billywizzos system which peaked my interest because I've been unable to get my mapping software updated. I assume you've seen the reply I made to Billywizzo above regarding this. I am NOT confusing MIB2 with MIB3, I'm now fully aware that my MIB3 is different to the MIB2 I had in my Kodiaq, although I freely admit that I didn't know the Kamiq had MIB3 when I bought it. (It was a spur of the moment purchase, so I'd done no research) The supposed facts I've stated were given to me by Skoda UK online chat, my dealer and various members on Briskoda. My dealer doesn't seem to know much, I think by dint of the fact the staff seem to be forever changing, so they're not up to speed with all the changes that VAG keep making. The online chat people are reading from a script and generally seem incapable of any variation from that. I'm also fully aware that when looking for info on forums, the wheat has to be sorted from the chaff, but there are often nuggets to gleaned that are useful. I have this morning once again spoken on the Skoda chat line, who are still adamant that mapping updates can only be done OTA in my car and I should speak to my dealer. I did that afterwards and although the young lady I spoke to wasn't completely conversant with how map updates should be done, she made enquiries and rang me back and this is what she said; In my Kamiq, map updates are only available OTA and for this to work, I had to be logged into Skoda Connect in my car. She reckoned that any update may not be instant as these updates are not constantly available and she didn't know when they are. In my initial conversation with her, she said there's an SD card in my car. I assured her there isn't, or at least there's no visible slot as I had in my Kodiaq. When she returned and told me about OTA updates, I told her that member here (on the Kamiq forum) had managed to update his maps manually (I've seen a pic of his screen with the update). This is when she told me that not all cars are created equal and some UK models have an embedded SD card which is what can be updated manually, but the Kamiq (in the UK at least) does not. Now I was aware that the same models in different countries have variations on the MIB3 theme, but I had no idea that was the case in the UK. I then checked back on the statement from the guy on the Kamiq forum and I now notice that he has a Karoq, not a Kamiq, which could explain a lot. So, if I've made any mistakes, it wasn't me getting my facts wrong, it was not having all the facts in my possession and I wrongly assumed that any UK model with the MIB3 system installed would work the same way, which is why I grabbed onto the fact that Billywizzos car had an update. I'll stop talking about updates on the Kodiaq forum now, but if I'm to believe what my dealer told me today, I do have to be registered with Skoda Connect for map updates. Whether that applies to your Kodiaq I don't know or care, but it does apply to my car, so my facts were correct.
  25. Thankyou for the reply. I no longer have a Kodiaq, which was a 2018 with MIB2 and I used to update maps from the Portal manually with no bother. I now have a 2021 Kamiq with MIB3 which should also receive OTA updates. The car was a demo registered in May and I bought it in July and being a demo, nobody had taken proper ownership of it and registered for Skoda Connect, therefore it still has 19.11 mapping. I didn't realise initially that map updates were done OTA, so I tried the manual method using the Portal, which didn't work. I contacted Skoda UK via the chat line and they told me about OTA, by which time I'd missed the July update. I've since reactivated my Connect membership and had been hoping to get the November update, which hasn't happened yet. In the interim, there was chat that Skoda would make the manual update available again, possibly this year but no guarantee. I have since conversed with two members on the Kamiq forum, one in Australia and the other in the UK, who both state that it's possible to manually update the maps and claim they've both done it. The Portal has been updated since July and does now contain instructions on how to manually update maps on MIB2 Amundsen and Columbus and also MIB3. I have followed these instruction religiously and have also taken advice from the two guys who've done it and I cannot as yet get my maps to update. As you have the latest up date installed, I have to assume that I should have had mine by now also, but no such luck, so I'm at a loss to know how I'll get an update and I'm certainly not paying a fee next year to keep Connect running as I think it's an absolute waste of money. The rub for me, is that VW cars that have the Discover Pro system with MIB3 have to update the maps manually via the VW portal, or even via the Skoda Portal as allegedly they're both the same. Rant over and once again, apologies for hijacking the thread, but I find it hard to comprehend that it's so difficult to do something now which was pretty easy with MIB2.
