  1. I looked there earlier and couldn't see anything relevant. nor could I see any reference to it in the online manual. Sorry to be thick, but could you give me a tutorial please ?
  2. https://imgur.com/vEFckL8 https://imgur.com/WwCBYmV https://imgur.com/9WfDvew Here you go I hope. I've only been able to add the links as I haven't subscribed to add pics. The sill protector goes underneath the sill as well and does offer some decent protection. There are 3 tabs on it which are secured to the underbody by star screws. Whether there's double sided sticky tape and/or trim clips as well, I've no idea. The 3 fixing tabs are at each end and in the centre, so if the body is predrilled to accept the screws I imagine you'll be able to see where the holes are, unless they're covered in underbody protection. Sorry the pics of the underneath aren't better, but I was firing the camera blind. You'll get the idea though.
  3. Yes, I'll do it for you later today.
  4. Does any one know if the brightness of the digital dash and the infotainment screen can be adjusted up and down ?
  5. Not quite sure what's being asked in this thread but my 2021 1.5 SE L has the protection highlighted in this photo. It's the same material and colour as grey valance you can see under the front bumper in the same pic.
  6. No, as I wrote earlier, even cars with seal inside tyres come with a puncture repair kit, so some axxe has nicked it before you took possession. Follow Colins advice on the other channel and get yourself a spare wheel.
  7. I got my info from an authoritative website that was just trying to forewarn of the possible hassle people could face if caught using speed camera warnings and I think for the occasional traveller/holidaymaker, they are right to do so. As a resident you are au fait with how things work over there and therefore you are somewhat blase about it, but people have a right to know the possibilities that await them should they transgress. Again, not so easy to follow for the tourist, especially if travelling solo.
  8. Of course they are, I'd forgotten that although it was in force when I last visited 2 years ago and all the roads I travelled on in Brittany had the new speed limit sign posted. So the OPs sat nav update is actually correct. I have to say that 80kph on many French roads is painfully slow !
  9. My point was; this forum does not provide sat nav updates unless I'm missing something, so I have to assume that you got your update from the Skoda Portal via a link someone on this forum provided. If for some reason your update isn't a genuine Skoda one, that could explain why speed limits are incorrect. Having said that, my previous Columbus system often got speed limits wrong and couldn't be relied upon.
  10. If you look on the outside of the Pirelli tyre wall it will state somewhere that it's a seal inside tyre. If it has that written on the tyre, then the seal was applied in the factory during manufacture. IMO a space saver is the way to go. Even though my car had a repair kit, I still bought a space saver for it. Shame this question didn't come up a couple of weeks ago as I've just sold mine.
  11. You bought the car second hand, so it's likely that there was a puncture repair kit in the car when it was new. If so, it's either been used and discarded of nicked by the previous owner. It was unlikely to have a had a spare wheel unless the original buyer ordered one and if he did, he could have taken it with him. Does your car have Pirelli Scorpion Verde Seal Inside Tyres fitted ? If so, they should get you to a tyre repair centre in the event of a standard puncture. My car came with these tyres, but it did also have a puncture repair kit as well. If you intend to keep the car for a while, I'd get a space saver spare wheel and jack if it will fit into a 7 seater boot. If it won't, buy yourself a puncture repair kit from Halfords or elsewhere. Personally, I'm not keen on these kits as they often don't work well, but it's better than nothing. Even if your car had or was meant to have a repair kit when new, it's now 4 years old, so you've no chance of claiming one from Skoda.
  12. So these stories are made up then ? There's a script writer sitting a desk somewhere making them up and then posting them online purely for sensationalism ? They might be exaggerated and few and far between, but they do happen and it's not wrong to make people travelling to France aware of them. I believe it was the AA over here that made me aware of the possibility of large and confiscation.
  13. JR, whether these reports are true or maybe just exaggerated, it's surely better for the occasional traveller to be safe than sorry. I would hate to have my holiday spoiled with a 750 euro fine and confiscation of the sat nav. That would have amounted to the best part of £1000. Also, there's always one jobsworth gendarme out there who wants to apply the letter of the law. I've had it in airports a couple of times - they do exist and getting a fine for a minor misdemeanor does put a stain on a holiday.
  14. Like other systems I've had, the built in sat nav volume control can only be adjusted when there's an announcement taking place, so maybe it's the same when you have your phone connected. I find this really annoying, because if the volume is turned right down how do we know when an announcement is being made. You didn't answer my question about whether you got your update from the Skoda Portal ?
  15. Thanks for the warning. I am aware of what you say and my Garmin does have the option of turning off speed warnings, which I used to do when using it due to horror stories of large fines and device confiscation !!
  16. Good question. I'm hoping to revert to travelling to France next year, so it could be interesting. I've never used a sat nav app, so can't help with that I'm afraid, al though my wife has used her phone with Google maps as a standalone in our car a couple of times which seemed to work quite well. I have a 10 year old Garmin which I keep updated, so I think I'll take that to France as a back up. I've done the same with a Hyundai I had, n which I thought the sat nav was dire. When you say you have the latest update from this forum, do you actually mean from the Skoda Portal ?
  17. Aha, that explains it. Glad you've gotten your head around and moved on.
  18. This question was asked some time back and the answer at the time was NO. I suppose it could have changed in the meantime as updates are always occuring.
  19. You're welcome and let us know whether it worked or not. Feedback is a good thing 👍
  20. You might get better answers in the Superb section. This is the Kamiq section and we don't have (to my knowledge) the same infotainment system that you do. Having said that, I have had a Kodiaq with a Columbus system and whilst you may think I'm being silly, there's a couple of things you can try, one of which has worked for me in another matter. First off, reboot the infotainment system 3 times in succession. If you don't know how to do this; keep your finger pressed on the on/off icon for a few seconds until you hear a loudish beep or pop, This is an easy thing to do and will not affect any settings, so nothing ventured, nothing gained. If that doesn't work, try restoring factory settings in the infotainment system. This is easy to do, but is more involved because you will lose any settings that you've personalised. One of these might work and if they do, then you've saved a visit to the dealer. If they don't, then all you've lost is a bit of time. Of course, your system might require an update at the dealer, but the above are worth a try.
  21. Having had no response from Skoda you can't know that for sure. Specs are always in flux and manufacturers are constantly striving to lose weight to keep costs down and to meet emissions targets. Upping the nose weight could be down to something as simple as removing the tyre inflation kit from the boot, or they've made the rear seat frames from aluminium rather than steel. These are just possible examples and the guys on the end of a phone at customer service won't know about those types of details. That's why you're having to wait whilst your query is escalated to a higher level and someone who hopefully knows the answer. On another matter recently, it's my experience that because specs are changing so often, people in the industry can't or haven't kept up with them and sometimes your only hope comes down to pot luck by finding the one nerdy head tech in a dealership that really does try and keep up with it all. Frankly and maybe harshly, I'd stop beating yourself up about finding the reasons these weights have changed because it won't make any difference to your current car. What is stamped on the specs plate is what you're stuck with. If a 75kg noseweight limit is too low for you, then you bought the wrong car. Maybe you went for style over substance, thinking that the more powerful car would be capable of taking more weight. Not an unreasonable assumption I guess, but if you're buying a car for a specific purpose then research should be done before buying to make sure the car is capable.
  22. The reason you've got a 100kg stamped on your hitch is because Skoda will use the same hitch across the range and some earlier models did have a 100kg noseweight limit. e.g. my old 5 seater SE L. The 7 seaters were rated at 80kgs because the extra rear seats put extra weight in the rear of the car. I believe I'm correct in stating that your VRS has a battery in the boot, which is why your noseweight is even lower. I'm guessing that skoda have changed things in the rear of cars e.g. seat types, lighter battery etc etc, which have allowed noseweights to increase. If you tow a caravan, then you'll know that it takes little to be put in or taken out of the front storage hatch to alter the caravan noseweight. The extra towing limit is a bit of a mystery, but I'm sure there's a simple explanation. KennyR is correct though, your limits are stamped on a plate on the car and legally you should not exceed them. If you do and you're involved in an accident, you could be prosecuted and your insurance nullified.
  23. That's cos it's in Wales 🤣
  24. Whilst I've hardly used it so far, it's not looking user friendly. It took me down a country lane last week that was more like a farm track when there was a perfectly decent road a few hundred yards further on. That's why I'd like the option of dialling in the type of roads I'd like it to use.
  25. Yes, that's the same as my Columbus had, but I'm not getting the option in my Kamiq.
