After 7 years of 2 x new Octavia VRS I sold my mk4 back to the dealer yesterday and am gonna grab a used Golf or the like as it's replacement. Both the mk3 and mk4 were awesome cars, I had little to no trouble (nothing at all with the mk4) and would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone wanting a spacious, subtle, powerful and comfortable car. I've only owned either VW, Audi, Skoda or Ford my whole motoring life (30yrs) and the two Skoda's have been the best. I just didn't need mine any more and it was sat on the drive depreciating, where as it should be being used and enjoyed. Whoever buys it will get a great car in practically new condition. I will miss it and may well be back, but in the meantime, thanks for the knowledge and friendly help. All the best.

Just had the same issue, my 2024 VRS won't take the A331H - I'll try the A335H next.

FWIW - 2024 VRS mk4.0, 9k miles covered over 22 months - best car I've ever owned, zero issues. "Would you avoid?" - absolutely not.

I've owned mine for 18 months and struggle to recall any issues with the infotainment- maybe once I had to turn it off and on once when an update got stuck, but nothing more.

I might have something on this @Jemm I believe your car is AUS spec right? - does the VIN end in 'T' ?

There's a chance I'll be looking to sell my car in the new year. It'll be pristine, 2 yrs old, 2yrs warranty left and only 10k miles. I don't want to sell privately, trade it, or go to WBAC or the like. Question is, do dealers buy cars for selling on as approved-used? or does it have to be a part ex?

I'd love to see a VRS running in the British or World Touring Car Championships with a kit like that. I'd feel a bit of a **** driving to Sainsbury's in it though.

Agreed, I was staggered to see a Focus that I ran into the ground when working a long commute, subsequently on a forecourt advertised as having a full service history. I hated the damn thing and hadn't had it serviced for about 30k miles. Basically by including the service book they are providing the vehicles full service history, regardless of whether there's anything in it! Anyway, my two pence worth, I really feel for you and just be assured that this will go away, it will not consume any of your thoughts in a month or two. I think I would be looking to reject the vehicle, but that's easy for me to say, it's not me that has gone through this journey and has to enter an unfamiliar legal process. But if your dialogue with Skoda UK is still open and you're still interested in keeping the vehicle, perhaps suggest that if it is properly brought inline with their approved used checklist (maybe by another dealer) and they can increase the warranty period for some added peace of mind, then you'll give them the chance to do so? Mine does it, always a clunk rather than click though. I thought the pedal was loose at first, but it isn't. I think it's just the car taking control of the pedal/brake force? I consider it a quirk and am just training my brain/foot to release it more softly 🙂

The MOT is £55 and the breakdown cover is worth a lot more than £25, it's europe wide for a start! Plus the diagnostic fees are only charged if there's no fault found. Sorry for being a pedant on this, but the all-in-one cover is a decent way to keep your car covered for years 3-5 - in my opinion of course!

Yeah, they'll always find something to add - i recently paid for a fuel and oil 'flush' when the car was in for it's 'free' service. I struggle to imagine that involved anything at all, maybe a £5 bottle of redex if they noticed it on the job sheet.

I had to pay for my service plan when I got my car (also 2024) it didn't come as standard with the PCP. My one includes 1 x oil change service and 1 x inspection service. I'm on fixed 10k/1yr but I don't think that's a requirement.
