  1. Great to meet you @gav_is_conšŸ‘šŸ» some really nice cars there today, took loads of pictures - too many to put them all on but here is a selection. and I got a great raffle prize too! Heres to next nearšŸ˜€
  2. I’m coming down for it šŸ˜€
  3. Got to say I find myself baffled by this post. I don’t know if the OP is after a hatch or estate, but there are currently 207 brand new Octavia available, according to the Skoda Uk website. Haven’t filtered for Superbs. There are 7 PHEV Octavia listed. https://cars.skoda-auto.com/210/en-gb/carSearch?CarType=N&Model=BIAD&Model=BIAR&Sort=DATE_OFFER&SortDirection=DESC&_gl=1*1n4sb3j*GA4_ga*ZmFhNGUzMjEtNDA1Yy00OWE2LWE3YTEtM2NlNWJhNDUwNWU1*GA4_ga_MS0YW0TWZD*MTY4NDU3MjkwNy4zLjEuMTY4NDU3MjkyOC4wLjAuMA.. I appreciate that taking any of these vehicles may involve a compromise on spec (which is what I did and got my car immediately)* but if you want a new Octavia they are certainly out there. conversely of course the guy might have just fancied a Toyota or something non Skoda, which is absolutely fair play, but availability and being critical of VAG/Skoda seems a bit disingenuous * the car was literally sat in the showroom, it took 10 days from when I saw the car and did the deal on the spot to getting the car, because I was on holiday. Could have had it in a couple of days.
  4. I don’t know if there are any more Skoda events currently planned but this link should take you to their events page which might have something that takes your fancy šŸ‘šŸ» https://www.themotorist.com/whats-on
  5. Hi, I think you’ve ordered a very nice car and hope you’ll be well pleased when it does arrive. re the build delay, sadly this is commonplace with almost any manufacturer BUT one way of short circuiting the system is to see if there are any new ā€œimmediate availabilityā€ cars that you could get instead. This sometimes means a compromise on some of the bells and whistles - but personally I’m very impatient so have gone down this route before. (My current car was bought on this basis, seen on a Friday, paperwork done and good to go in a couple of days. All the essentials were there but ideally I’d have liked a heated steering wheel and reverse camera - but I was happy to forego them for zero delay) Looking at the Skoda site this morning there are 44 Kodiaq Sportline listed for immediate availability so might be worth looking at the list and seeing if one of those would suit you better, and getting your chosen dealer to see if he can get hold of the car for you. Or how amenable they would be to cancelling the order leaving you free to go elsewhere for one of the available cars. https://cars.skoda-auto.com/210/en-gb/carSearch?CarType=N&EquipmentLine=BIBHKW&ImporterCars=false&Model=BIBH&Sort=DATE_OFFER&SortDirection=DESC&_gl=1*1nej8vu*GA4_ga*ZThlMThkMDMtYjE1Ny00NDdhLTk3NTQtNzgzYjFmYzVhNjZh*GA4_ga_MS0YW0TWZD*MTY3OTMwMjU5Ny4xLjEuMTY3OTMwMjYyNi4wLjAuMA..
  6. Traditional cure is to shove a pin into the washer nipple bit to clear our any debris. Don’t know how the modern washers are put together but it might be easier to see if you can clear them from the top end before taking them out. I am presuming that there aren’t any breaks/leaks in the pipes between the washer fluid tank and the washer heads?
  7. @thommo41 I was in a similar position.. I was looking for a VRS and fell lucky on a cancelled order. But I bought the car without a test drive, just sat in it in the showroom. I was coming from a 695 Abarth, now that is a noisy and harsh beast and to be honest after 2 years I’d had enough of it. Unbeatable for putting a smile on your face and having a blast, but a real pain if you wanted to do to the supermarket or just do ā€œnormalā€ driving. Or go to IKEA, the tip, and stuff like that. What I love about the VRS is it’s versatility, I run it in Eco when trolling around with supermarket runs and the like, and can now bung it in sport when I want to have a bit of fun. The icing on the cake though was when another member here managed to switch the volume down on to fake sound to Zero, so I now have for me a pretty perfect blend of a car.
  8. Could something like shown in this link help, or would they stick up too much and stop the seat back folding or damage it if it did fold? seat belt alarm stopper clip edit - can’t paste as a hyperlink but here is a screen shot instead, which might help..
  9. You’re spot on @varooom , the sound being set to zero has held so there is now now sound whatever profile/mode is selected. And it’s so much the better for it 🤣🤣🤣
  10. Without wishing to tempt fate, I have to say I’m entirely happy with my Mk4 VRS petrol/DSG. the only irritant was the fake noise, which has now been set to zero volume thanks to another forum member (you know who you are!) and all is well. a recent motorway trip saw 51 mpg, which is only 10 less than my previous Superb 150 diesel did. But now I have the flexibility to drive ā€œenthusiastically ā€œ should I want to. The car was delivered to dealer October 2022, and was running 1896 software on collection. very happy.
  11. So today with the help of another forum member, I now have a sound actuator turned down to zero. link to post as to how it was done using ODIS attached https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/510736-how-to-switch-off-fake-engine-sound-using-odis/ It really has, for me, transformed the car into a much more pleasant place to be
  12. After my earlier plea for help, I went over to see @varooom who had access to an earlier version on VCDS and also ODIS. Sadly the VCDS couldn’t find Hex A9, so we plugged in the ODIS into the OBD port and computer and went from there. Car ignition was on, and bonnet open during this process. It was a bit like a needle in a haystack, with very little information on YouTube or the web. After searching through probably 1,000 different modules/entries on the screen, eventually we found under 0001 Engine Electronics a submenu with 00A9, the dreaded Sound Actuator. This should be photo#1 clicking on that took is to the second picture, which showed the volume of the actuator as 100. We (he) then changed that value to ā€œ0ā€ (zero), clicked ā€œapplyā€. Then as per the third picture, you can see it has stored the current value as 0. Shut the ODIS down and remove plug from OBD port Turned ignition off, shut the bonnet, shut and locked the car for a minute. unlocked the car and started up. And silence (from the actutor) ensues. As all you have done is turn down the volume, no other faults are thrown. (Disconnecting the unit physically reportedly throws other faults up, and removing the fuse also stops other stuff working) Anyhow, that’s how it was done, and hopefully this information will save other people a lot of time trying to find where 00A9 is buried on ODIS Oh, just to add, running the diagnostics does chew through the car battery, so make sure you have a jump start pack or can plug the car in to something g like a Ctek charger/conditioner while running the diagnostics. And make sure you have turned the heated seat off too as that really seems to eat the battery šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ And big thanks to my new hero, @varooom
  13. Just to bring this request for help to a close… Varooom very kindly contacted me this morning and by 15.00 today I was at his place, only about 15 miles from home. I was so glad not to be tackling this job on my own, Varooom very patiently went through loads of stuff on his ODIS and laptop and eventually, hidden away, the solution was found. And finally I have the car set up just as I want it, with no VERY annoying fake sound in any mode. Bliss šŸ˜ŽšŸ˜ŽšŸ˜Ž Thanks again to Varooom, a real hero of this forum. And a top bloke šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ» I will put a post separate to this using some screenshots Varooom took and (hopefully) an explanation in case others struggle to fix this issue and don't have access to OBD Eleven or VCDS but do have ODIS.
  14. @varooom hopefully you’ve got a PM in reply. I can’t seem to make a link work though for the post I was referring to, but hopefully from the thread title I sent you you’ll be able to find it!
  15. The Motorist at Sherburn in Elmet ran a Skoda day yesterday, which I went over to. Quite well supported, probably a few guys and gals from this site. Blue VRS seemed to be the dominant car! some nicely modified cars, particularly liked a Superb Estate on bags (not normally my thing but this just looked ā€œrightā€), anyway some pictures for those who couldn’t go..
  16. Morning all. As per other posts I’ve made, I am being driven mad by the fake exhaust noise in my 2022 VRS Petrol Octavia. From what I’ve read elsewhere on the forum, I can buy an OBD Eleven and some tokens and cure this by turning the volume of the sound actuator to zero. However I’ve never done this sort of thing before and wonder whether there is anyone out there with say 2 hours drive of Bradford who would be willing to either show me/supervise me doing the job* (using my own yet to be purchased) OBD Eleven unit/credits OR maybe for a fee be prepared to use their OBD Eleven tool and credits and do the job for me… *rewarded suitably of course Here’s hoping!
  17. I’m also driven mad by this effing noise. My solution has been (so far) the same as yours re individual mode. I actually avoid sports mode as I can’t stand the noise, and have individual mode set to be Normal (but no noise). but I’d love to turn it off permanently so do you have any links to what you bought and instructions please that a non expert would be able to follow? I really love the car but it would be so much better with a master on/off switch so that those who like the noise can enjoy it and others who don’t want the noise on can avoid it whatever mode they drive in
  18. You’re right there, it really is a case of each to their own! I have a VRS petrol and the biggest flaw with it is the ridiculous fake sound that cannot be switched off entirely. I see no point in Skoda spending millions of euros refining the NVH only to undo that work with a fake sound. I like the performance of the car but would rather do that in as quiet and smooth a way as I can, as opposed to making loads of noise inside or outside the car…
  19. Exactly. I wonder what the model used in the 2019 test would rate today? It’s simply not possible to compare between models as NCAP - like all similar quasi regulators- have a habit of ratcheting up standards so a test done on even the same car 3 years ago would give a different result today to that which they got 5 years ago..
  20. Came across this video the other day from NCAP re the 2022 (i.e mark 4) Octavia. I was pretty impressed!
  21. Have you accidentally set the air on recirculating- I’ve had cars steam up when I’d accidentally done this when cleaning the interior of the car?
  22. @Boosted_Six are you still looking ? on the Skoda UK website they are today (28/11/22) showing 11 new VRS estates available in the UK. Might be worth a look? https://cars.skoda-auto.com/210/en-GB/carSearch?CarType=N&EquipmentLine=BIARLQ&Model=BIAR&Sort=DATE_OFFER&SortDirection=DESC
  23. Well, just a quick update… i went along to the event and got there at 11.00 underwhelming doesn’t even come close. There was the usual smattering of cars from casual visitors to the cafe, but in terms of Eastern Bloc cars we had: Wartburg Knight saloon Wartburg Knight Tourist Skoda Octavia VRS slightly modded Skoda Octavia VRS (me) Lada Niva - that had gone by the time I finished my sausage buttie that I treated myself to on arrival. Still, it was a nice drive out…
  24. Sounds like the perfect job @robt100 šŸ˜Ž
  25. @Darcy-Actual - depending on what spec you are after, it’s always worth looking on the Skoda UK website ā€œavailable carsā€. Currently there are 42 Octavia estates and 26 Superb estates shown as available for immediate delivery. also it can be worth looking on dealers own websites - for example, Simpsons Skoda site shows brand new cars they have in stock for immediate delivery. It can also be worth visiting local dealers to see what they have got… Why I hear you ask…. Well, I was after a new Octavia VRS 245 petrol DSG estate about a month ago. I walked into my nearest dealer and almost unbelievably there was a new, Magic black, 245 petrol with DSG sat there in the showroom. It was a cancelled order that had landed a couple of days earlier, the guy who ordered it got fed up with waiting and bought an ex demo car instead. I really hadn’t expected the outcome I got, took about 10 minutes to get the order placed and delivery date fixed. to be honest I’d have specc’d it with a couple of add ones such as winter pack but was more than happy to forego that for immediate gratification 🤣 Good luck in your hunting. PS - Have had a Superb estate in the past, and if that’s what you go for then I’m confident you’ll love it. I regretted selling mine within 48 hours 😭
