  1. The vehicle is not floating in the video as inferred, the water is up to the bottom of the door cills on the other vehicles and no higher. An EV has obvious advantages over ICE vehicles when wading but should not be considered impregnable.
  2. Yes I did, connections at the top end to the throttle valve and MAF sensor were easy, the one to the EGR you have to do blind and by feel and is quite a challenge, it pays to practice on an accessible connector of the same type. You can see the connector with a long handled inspection mirror to see what you are up against but once you put your arm down there you can see nothing. I have removed and refitted it since, I did so for the software rollback in case it caused a conflict, it was much easier the second time round knowing what had to be done, the emulator works fine with the original ECU software. With some thought you can hide all traces of the emulator and its connections so as not to have problems at MOT, the new connections to the visible throttle valve and MAF sensor are identical to the OE ones and the new sub-loom has identical wrapping to the OE, the modification is then invisible.
  3. Lets say I was daft enough to drive through a deep flood or ford in my vehicle and hydrolock the engine, Skoda dealer wants what? £10K for a new engine inc labour, do you think my protestations that someone else drove through water without a problem so there must have been something wrong with my car would cut any ice? Do you think the media would be in the slightest bit interested unless I said the magic words EV and Tesla? The only things we know are what the owner alleges, someone who was foolish enough to incriminate themselves by saying they expected to pay £500 - £1000. To me the key word the dealer is alleged to have said is "submerged" I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the owners manual yet (no doubt a non printed one!) I only RTFM when all else has failed but even I know mine gives a maximum depth of water and has a pictogram showing that height in relation to the wheels and body cill.
  4. Absolutely and as there have been (to my knowledge) no statements of any kind from Tesla or the garage we have only their alleged comments editorialised by the owner who has admitted responsibility and is seeking to minimise the cost to them.
  5. And of course they are telling the truth, after all its only a £17K bill they are facing and its not as if they have gone running to the media. Oh, hang on a second...................................
  6. Driving underwater is not basic off-roading.
  7. If you are going to be prevented from accessing and using your vehicle for months then the insurers will pay out as they would if a stolen vehicle has not been recovered after X days/weeks. They will be loving it, their favorite type of claim, no personal injury, no ambulance chasers, they will pay out far less than the actual value and then deduct the excess, the policyholders will then be shafted for increased premiums for years especially if they have protected NCB. The insurers will then sell the undamaged vehicles for close to their market value, more than they will have paid out, they are not even having to pay storage or parking fees to the airport! Nice work if you can get it!
  8. You need to get the correct item for your engine as the blanking plates may differ. I did not use any of them but have kept them in case. To the best of my memory if your EGR is functional and in the closed position it will remain there so you dont need to use the single blanking plate (higher up and easier to access) to stop gases flowing. If the heat exchanger has failed and leaking exhaust then you need to use the pair of blanking plates to isolate the EGR, if there is a water leak the hoses need to be capped, I dont think that comes with the kit but read the listing as it should explain all.
  9. 150km will be the time for another regen if the engine has had the "emissions fix" Have your recent journeys when the problem manifests been less than 30km? Do the radiator fans continue to run when you switch the engine off?
  10. It was 3 years ago and Ebay have locked me out of my account by dint of having corrupted mine and thousands of others phone numbers so I cannot get the text message with the security log in code, and you cannot contact them by any means until you have logged in 😒 yet another non contact organisation 😒 So no, I cannot find the article, it was a Polish seller, £99 and free delivery to UK. OK I have found one for yours, £106 but yes £500 postage to the UK, I would say the seller has got burned by a UK customer maybe through import charges, Paypal refunded them & he didn't get the package back, sounds like he wont deal with the UK any more yet postage to France and other EU countries is £19.99. I would message him and see if you can work something out.
  11. My rollback was done by Celtic Tuning in Newquay Cornwall, if you have a remap done there they will do it for free, or at least thats what they offered me back then, trouble was I could not make or plan in advance the journey due to Covid restrictions. Finally I went there for a funeral and dropped in on the slight off chance they could help, I only had 40 minutes spare but they sorted me out, not cheap but great service and the resultant driving experience was worth every penny.
  12. Mine is same engine. Your posting has made me decide to check the throttle body again after 50K miles without EGR, there is no loss of power or economy and I expect it to be as clean as a whistle this time, I will bookmark this thread and post the outcome.
  13. Yes and yes! For the former there are EGR emulator/simulators available on Ebay, I have had one for 3 years and 50K miles now and it does what it says on the tin, no more clogged up intake tract and less DPF particles. Unfortunately after the emissions fix the regens will still carry on very frequently even when the DPF is hardly getting any ash load as the algorithm trips the regen on estimated/calculated load and not the actual measured load. Which brings me to the second "Yes" which I have also instigated on my vehicle, an "emissions rollback" to the original pre "fix" ECU software, I might hear the fans running for a regen now once or twice a year instead of every journey less than 20km unless I carried on for another 5 or 10km simply to let the completely unnecessary regen complete 😒 (pun intended)
  14. I remember the last time someone posted editted dashcam footage on here to supposedly demonstrate their innocense, I'm afraid I was amongst those that gave a rather forthright contrary opinion, they have gone very quiet since, I wonder which driver was considered liable or if it went knock for knock? One thing is for sure, they will both get shafted at renewal time, there is no such thing as a no blame party when it comes to policy renewal, only a captive audience to be exploited 😒
  15. You know why many of the public toilets were shut I guess? Perhaps charging stations with toilets will become the new lieus for cruising ! In fact there is probably already an app for it 😂
  16. Sounds like you go from charge station to charge station just putting in the minimum to see if you can se faire draguer anyone 😀 Less harmful than smoking to do the same! It certainly sounds very social being an early adopter, make the most because it will surely change in time sadly.
  17. Agreed, I use mine more as a comparator. Waiting for the modules to shut down will not work unless you have fooled the bonnet open sensor, mine no longer works so one less problem 👍 However I have found that even doing that and waiting the test results are significantly lower than when I disconnect the battery terminal, the alarm and central locking reciever modules are always active, their resistance must throw the test measurement.
  18. Auto door locking can usually be disabled from the dashboard menu if you have the Maxidot display. Seat belt warning I am afraid you are stuck with unless you use a belt buckle clip to fool the system, allowing drunk passengers to ride without being belted is leaving yourself open to personal injury claims especially if you have disabled the warnings.
  19. Any correspondence between the temperature guage saying 90°c and the actual engine temperature is coincidental. The guage will read a rock steady 90°c over a very wide range of temperatures. The only way to be sure is to look at live data using VCDS or similar.
  20. Not for me they aren't! Although the days when you could speak of it on the internet without pressing peoples buttons (who were relieved of lots of money) have gone.
  21. No the relay will do what it is supposed to do without affecting the bulb failure test circuit, mine has been working fine for over 3 years now although it was a lot cheaper than £50. Just live with it if indeed it happens, my MK2 Octavia which I also used the high impedance switching relay on had parking sensors but the drawbar of trailers be they straight or Vee never triggered them, it might have had I jack-knifed it and got close to damaging the rear corner, in that circumstance I would want the sensors to work.
  22. I hadn't worked it out, I got stuck on how to jack up a steering wheel!
  23. Very often a failing release bearing will rattle and drone when not loaded and be silent when the clutch depressed, often there will be a pre-load spring or the same achieved by the hydraulics to prevent noise once the bearing has loosened up.
  24. If it is held in by the plastic C clip like I think it is then you can replace it working by feel alone, you dont need to see what you are doing, granted until you have done it once it will not be so apparent what to do. Removing the wiring plug is usually the hardest, once that is done the sensor should be relatively easy.
  25. Your opinion has been progressively devalued by your legion rambling postings to the point that for me at least it is worthless. You asked me what I based my opinion on despite the fact it could not have been more clear, nonetheless la politesse required me to explain once again. I really am not in the slightest bit interested in your resultant rambling pontifications like: Again, the battery certainly should be, if not then we are sleepwalking into some pretty murky waters indeed and will cause major problems then if when it rains that people will be unable to drive their electric vehicles for fear of getting water in the batteries and then facing major expensive repair bills, and as mentioned earlier, how about the emergency services also not being able to respond for fear of getting stranded and or massive repairs costs. Insurance premiums will skyrocket as a result. and I will ignore your further questions of me.
