  1. 2018 1.5 TSI SE Hatch with no sticker in the boot so I can't find any of the option codes people seem to be talking about. Anyone help or is it a case of grabbing the codes from a seller off eBay or similar ? Ta in advance, driveway a bit steep so don't want to be taking wheels off until I absolutely have to ....
  2. This is what my first thought was but no issues with stop/start etc (although I disable it every run anyway). I'll keep an eye on it.
  3. 2018 1.5TSi Octavia, had this twice in two months now with the Component protection active warning on the infotainment coming up. Turned the radio off then on again and it cleared. 10 minutes later on the dual carriageway, the tyre pressure warning came on, first time I've had this on the car. Got in to work, left the car for a few hours and checked the pressures, 30.5 psi all round so not sure what it was complaining about. Wondering if it is a coincidence or something a bit more sinister ... posting in case anyone else has the same issue.
  4. I've seen the switch mode power supplies for dash cams radiate interference on many frequencies. It shouldn't make much of a difference if it has GPS or not. Some of the kit we build at work kills our office DAB radio dead until I put it in a shielded container. Even then, it can radiate from the power cables if we're not careful. It might be a bit of a stab in the dark for you but certainly the first place I'd look. Even if the dash cam isn't turned on, the power supply will still potentially interfere with your DAB if hard wired.
  5. Also check if you have any chargers or sat nav supplies plugged in anywhere as these can cause interference which will mess up the DAB signal
  6. I had / have the same. Apparently Skoda have updated my software which seemed to help a bit but the other day it was back as bad as it had always been.
  7. 2018 Octavia Hatch - live in the Midlands so no real extreme conditions but on a number of occasions, my doors have all frozen solid so I've not been able to get in the car. A bit of a problem at 5:30-6am when you're trying to get in to work on time without waking up the neighbours. Last time it happened, I ended up using the keyfob to wind down the windows so I could get some leverage to open the doors but this isn't a good solution really. Is this a known issues with the Octavia model or am I just unlucky ? I've not had this problem since my 1988 Astra used to do the same (in through the boot !)
  8. I had the same on my 2018 SE Hatch, driving on the dual carriageway at a steady pace and it sounded like someone had shot the car. I put it down to a glitch with the car infotainment system - I can't find anything else it could be.
  9. I can tell you a car I was working on a couple of weeks ago (I'm not allowed to tell you the brand unfortunately but not a VW based car) read between 8% (0.4v) at zero throttle and around 75% (4v) at full throttle.
  10. Scores on the doors for this tank of fuel. 624 miles on 44.93L of petrol - works out at 63.14mpg Not a million miles off the 63.9mpg reported by the on board computer - around 1.2% out
  11. I asked for the fix at the last service and was assured they had done it (and asked me to sign a worksheet that had a firmware update listed). The car seemed a bit better when pulling away and it certainly doesn't appear to have done the economy any harm.
  12. I've got the whole three hours drive on dashcam if you really want to analyze it. For a lot of it, I was in the tail end of rush hour traffic - average was around 50-60mph. Another 30 miles or so of roadworks on the M1 so again 50-60mph. There was a battle for "first place" between a motor transporter and a lorry in front of me so I held back and chilled out behind them - not too close though. I had the option of sitting in the car chilling out to some good music (Nine Inch Nails !) with the aircon on or sitting at home sweltering in the heat so took my time. The last 20 miles were solo with nothing in front of me and a nice steady 56mph. I think the key thing was that the traffic was flowing at a slow but pretty constant pace which really helps and we could get in to discussions about hot air density / fuel air ratio etc but I leave that for work ....
  13. Well it had to be good for something - it was certainly no good for football .......
  14. I normally only use the car for the 12-13 mile (each way) commute to work each day. Rarely get less than 60mpg at the moment. We did take it for a decent run a couple of weekends ago but I had my wife in the car who moans if I do less than 70mph ..... This is the first time in my year and a half of ownership when I've taken it on a decent long run and driven it in a nice chilled out way - it certainly pays back. What does annoy me is the "Green Score" of 81 !! What do Skoda want to get to 100 ?
  15. Manual - boggo standard ex-rental SE spec.
  16. Not bad considering it was Friday afternoon traffic - M1 / M25 for most of it, aircon was on full and it was knocking on 32 degrees C outside the car for most of the trip.
  17. Good choice with the Nextbase - when my mount started to get a bit loose, I pinged them an email and they sent a new one the next day even though it was a couple of months out of warranty.
  18. ^^ this - and some dashcam chargers also do it.
  19. I sometimes have this when I first pull off. It will go into mute with the little icon of the face on the display then stay stuck on. Only way I have found to get round this is to either disconnect and reconnect the phone or hold the voice button down for a couple of seconds then say "cancel" The mute tends to work on only part of the instructions on mine - most of it comes through ok though.
  20. You can pick up a decent Nextbase dashcam for that money - I've got an older 412GW and it has been great. Had a couple of issues with the mount but the Nextbase customer service is really good and sent me out another within a couple of days.
  21. We've got a new Golf 1.5 TSI DSG R line on order at the moment so will be interesting to see how it compares to the Octy (if it ever turns up !)
  22. Eco but then mine is a basic SE 1.5 Manual.
  23. As long as you're happy with it , that is all that matters If we sat side by side stuck in traffic on a dual carriageway, there would be no difference at all Welcome to the Octavia club
