  1. Evening all, I've just returned from a week in France, and sadly saw hardly any Skodas :thumbdwn: ... however, in amongst the wide range of Sh1troens, Pugs and Renaults my heart was lifted when I saw this shiny little example parked up in Poitiers. Vive la France, and you've got to love their motorways, and that Super 98 petrol... Chaos http://www.briskoda.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=549&size=big&password=&sort=1&cat=500

  3. Neil, mate, honestly! Have you actually been and test driven the Furby vRS? It's unbelievable! I've had some fast cars over the years, and it makes them look pedestrian. I have to say in comparison with your 1.0L Micra, you'll think the Furby has been fitted with warp drive, it's so ferrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrkin fast. Plus, diesels are the way to go - lower car tax, lower emissions, lower insurance, higher fuel economy, being able to look smug when everyone else is queueing for unleaded in the petrol station. Chaos
  4. Hi Quinten, I used to live in Camberley but live down the A3 towards Portsmouth now. I took the font with me but they use some kind of funky vinyl cutting software that didn't use TrueType fonts, but Chris at Assignments managed to find one that was identical as far as I can see. Chaos
  5. I popped in to see the very nice chaps at Assignments in Ligh****er, to see whether they could assist in spreading the word of the site, and this is the marvellous job that they've come up with. Even managed to simulate the site's font. http://www.briskoda.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=511&password=&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 And!! The best thing is that they've given me 2 more sets of vinyl lettering to give away as prizes at the National Meet on the 24th. So, now if you see a silver Furby vRS look out for the writing on the back, it may be me! Assignments Ltd, Unit 2 Broadway Green Farm Broadway Rd Ligh****er Surrey GU18 5SU Tel: 01276 452110 Chaos
  6. Hey Jouni, Welcome to the site! ...and what a marvellous place your country is... I spent many a happy week in Espoo and Helsinki a few years ago... gotta love that reindeer, and the saunas! Chaos
  7. TaviaRS, Thanks for the bitch slap for all Furby vRS drivers... makes me feel all warm and cosy about Octy drivers... :grumpy: :grumpy: Chaos
  8. Hey Bigmoose, Just make sure that the Furby vRS gets represented on the site as it IS a hot hatch (EDIT: regardless of what any of the trumped up taxi owning Octy drivers might say), despite perhaps not fitting in the usual hot hatch pigeon-hole, it does have a lot of the characteristics and a sub-10-second 0 to 60 time, even in unmodded production state. Welcome to the site, have fun. All the best, Chaos
  9. Dear all, I've just had a look on Technet to see if there was anything useful that I could add, and unfortunately most of the Knowledge Base Articles say in a very, very typical Microsoft way something along the lines of "This issue may well have been resolved in a later release of the software or in the latest Service Pack, please ensure your software is up to date"... Chocolate teapot.... solar powered torch etc., etc. Chaos
  10. I'll be there as a spectator, with my camera, as the terms of my lease are very explicit about not allowing track days etc. :( Chaos
  11. Ade, I've got a 3 week old Furby vRS, and I've done about 1400 miles in it, including 2 long trips to Warwick and Manchester (from near Portsmouth) and got 45/46 mpg on both trips, so I don't think the figures that you are getting are unusual, and I certainly don't hang about it mine. A guy I work with has a tdi130 Golf and he gets 50something mpg from his, BUT, he drives like my Grandad, and has his trip display permanently on the mpg display and varies his driving in order to get max mpg, rather than for how's best to drive. So, don't believe all of the hype. If you want bonkers mpg from the Vdub family then the Lupo / Arosa would have been the better choice. I'd also suggest that once your tyres are run in, it would be worth checking the pressures that they're sent out of the dealers with, as I intend to do on mine, as I've heard that they normally put them out with lowish pressures that will impact the economy. I'd also agree with the consensus on the site to stick with BP or Shell fuel, ideally BP Ultimate. I've gone to the Furby from a Nissan QX 2.0 (avg. 28mpg) and a Volvo 850 2.5 (avg 26mpg) so this car is an absolute joy! Chaos
  12. Si, UK Volvo club forums are good... http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/dc/dcboard.php Do you Volv as well as Skoad? My other car is an 850... Chaos

  14. What will the Barry's do next? This was found by a Bora-owning friend of mine of eBay, and he refused to give me the sale number so I couldn't go and buy it Chaos
  15. Colin' date=' nice to hear that the Big Blue is looking after you, I hope that you got lots of freebies and good hospitality. Thanks all for your thoughts on the road, and the heads-up on speed cameras, and France. Anyone got any idea what kind of motor the unmarked cops use? ...and come to think of it, is there a website(s) (that of course we wouldn't condone) that gives you tips on where speed cameras are and what cars to watch out for? i.e. always use to be Ovlovs and Omegas... All the best, Chaos[/font']
  16. Having had my first two trips on the Birmingham M6 Toll yesterday, on my trip to and back from Manchester, firstly, it was absolutely fantastic avoiding all of the nightmare that is the normal round Brum trip on the M6, it made my trip a load less stressful. Plus, what a fantastic road surface (despite the road works previously discussed on the forum)! However, I'm interested in my fellow Briskodians (particularly Maverick, I assume) opinion on how the Toll Road, as a seemingly "private" road, how it is policed, as I saw no police presence on the road at all, and no cameras etc.? Any thoughts on how this effects how the road / speeding is policed and enforced in comparison to a normal non-toll i.e. public road? Chaos
  17. On behalf of Volvo owners everywhere (as my other car is an Ovlov 850), I can only apologise, and can only assume that she was running late for picking the kids up from school, or taking Clarissa to pony club. Chaos
  18. Hey Blubber, I live in Bordon in East Hampshire, virtually on the Sussex border, near Liphook mainline station (Portsmouth-Waterloo) and on the A3(M), within easy reach of the M3... and £130-140K will get you a nice 2 bed semi with garage etc. or an ok 3 bed semi. Chaos
  19. A few words of support from the Southern England contingent, not mentioning rugby, beer, football, or red cars... keep meeting and keep the Skoda flag flying. Nice stickers, I've just got some lettering done for the back of my Furby, but not been brave enough to attach it yet... Chaos
  20. Hey rsbspt, I have a similar noise on mine as well, however, I'd written it off as rattly seatbelt clip or something... so I'd be really interested to find out what it is / might be. Chaos
  21. I got 115 out of my brand new Furby vRS (i.e. within the first week) without really trying, on the private runway that runs from Portsmouth to Southampton. I have to pay a lot more attention to how fast it goes, cos it's too easy to go really fast, especially with that very odd warp speed effect that you get on the Furby vRS speedo when the distance between 90 and 110 is the same as the distance beween 80 and 90. God only knows how rapid this thing is going to be once it's run in. Chaos
  22. 2 week old Diamond Silver Furby vRS with no mods and no extras (Company Car) and 30 years old Chaos
  23. Greetings and welcome to the site... I've also found it useful and friendly. I've been a Furby vRS owner for two or so weeks, and also still thoroughly enjoying it, including (deliberately) scaring the wits out of my mother-in-law today in it, in attempt to convince that she doesn't have to buy a BMW to replace her aging (and crap) Golf GTi Cabriolet in order to have fun and drive fast for fantastic value for money. Chaos
  24. LadyLoki, We had a similar problem where I lived with kids smoking in our cul-de-sac during school breaks. Luckily, with the change of school year, and a new batch of fifth formers / year 11 or whatever they are called these days, they have started smoking somewhere else. However, I went to B&Q and bought a large yellow "CCTV in Operation" sign that my neighbour and I agreed that we were going to put up on our wall. Despite the general acknowledgement that kids know everything, in some ways they are actually relatively stupid, and other locals around here had acknowledged that this tactic had worked in the past at discouraging the kids, without the actual expense of having to put in actual cameras. The theory and hope is that the kids will see the signs and assume that the cameras are hidden in some way. Just another idea for something to try and a couple of signs and fittings will cost you under £20. Some places, and I've seen them in the "House of Bath" catalogue, do fake cameras that you put a battery in they have a little red flashing light, are about £10/£15, so that's another option. They do look plasticcy and I'm not sure how convincing they are. All the best, Chaos
  25. Why can't those German t055ers just stick to making the Mini as their small car rather than clogging the roads up with more ferkin Beemer bleedin drivers, who will just do more tailgating, inappropriate accelerating and overtaking. I really don't like it, it's another Bangle bodge job, with more creases than an unironed t-shirt, and why are they trying to attack a market segment that's already too full? However, I do like the idea of the multi-stage braking lights.... I think hangbuikzwijn is something about a pig's belly, which could be in English "making a pig's ear of it" i.e. not doing a good job. Chaos
