  1. I've had the chance to drive about 10 mi in it. so impressions at the moment are restricted to. Fk me it's big. Nah it's bigger than that. I'm physically looking down on most SUVs Lots of pretty touch screens but I still think they suck for a car. Buttons buttons everywhere The most complex ICE ever. I mean I've worked in IT for 20yr and I'm struggling with some of it. The seats, oh lord the seats are comfortable It's actually quite nippy for a 2T truck, plenty of poke Steering a lot slower than the BM that'll take a bit of getting used to the driving mode defaults to comfort which is a bit wafty for me, I have to keep changing it to dynamic and there is no way I've found to make it stick. £80 to fill the tank, which was less than I thought. short run got 32mpg, I'm guessing the paper figure of 38 might be possible which would make it no worse than the 335d. We'll do some more miles over the weekend and we have some load lugging tasks for it which should be good.
  2. I've not real experience with those boxes. My mate has one in his outback but it pretends to be a normal auto with set ratios most of the time. He's indifferent about the CVT. His Outback is some weird banzai edition. I've no idea if that makes a difference.
  3. The Rav4 is quite a big car so the Suzuki will be too I suppose but still...that price. I thought Suzuki was primarily a budget car manufacturer. The Kona isn't a bad looking car. Not my thing but it's not offensive.
  4. I looked and thought, "that's not too bad looking". Then I saw the price.......
  5. There were some epic deals on an M4. Damn my fertile loins
  6. Byron is a light blue but aye pretty much. It's 'only' got 20"alloys but I didn't want 21 or 22 I actually will need to go down a muddy track. I'd have rather had Maserati for the difference but functionality ruled.
  7. My wellies are Goodyear. I wouldn't pay for Mucboots never mind hunters. I'm more farmer than laird
  8. Drum roll................. Just delivered to me a Range Rover Vogue 3l V6 in Byron Blue Optional electric tow bar, opening panoramic roof and a couple of other little things. Pictures to follow. Dearly departed my 2015 335d which is think is one of the best all round cars around. 0-60 in 4.7sec but could still do 42mpg quite easily. I'm not sentimental about cars but that engine is bloody brilliant and it was a very easy car to live with and practically faultless in the time I had it. If anyone is thinking about one YK65FVZ was mine and it was a good one. Serviced, new brakes and powder coated wheels.
  9. Mentioned a Mog to my mate, he said it would be good since you can use it to rotate the earth to the position you need. Less good for driving to Leicestershire
  10. Car being valeted now apparently
  11. Pu-lease, Hunters? Le Chameau boots for a proper gentleman https://www.lechameau.com/gb/
  12. Oh dear those are not nice alloys
  13. SO's Clubman has fron radar and about 3 times it has wailed red with a false positive reading of a car in front. Scared the crap out of me. I think it did bang the brakes on once, but that might have been me pooing my pants.
  14. I have bought something else. But I've not got it yet so I'm keeping quiet. It's looking like Tuesday to get it. It's being delivered since the BMW is still off the road. They'll take it away on trade plates.
  15. Aye I've been done in France and Germany despite never having visited either since passing my test.
  16. Yeah my mate bangs on about mud constantly. Plenty of cars with ground clearance but they all still have big fat summer tyres and they float on the mud spinning their tyres until the dig in. He was shooting yesterday and apparently there was a guy there with a new defender but it wasn't doing too well. for one the supplied tyres are no good and apparently the rim size means there isn't a god selection of off-road tyres for it right now, the other was his was a £70+ model and he was too scared to drive it where he needed to go.
  17. Drove a new defender today. I liked it, it's a bit like the Wrangler but civilised. Its probably worth the extra over the Wrangler. I'd consider one but the one i drove had a beige interior which is going to be a disaster for anyone that chooses it. It's only 6k but the seats were stained and water marked from drops of rain or water splashes. Trim looked to be easily scratched too. The car itself drives really well. I liked it a lot but then I drove a full Range Rover.. I understand the appeal now.
  18. I quite like that one. Got my money back from Toyota today. All it took were 4 phone calls yesterday to chase all the unreturned calls that were promised An email to the CEO A fairly strong phone call with the franchise priciple who called me after the ceo got involved, which started off with him saying sorry it was a mistake but we're not paying anything and ended with them paying my expenses and delivering number plates to my house Another two phone calls today to chase the refund and the promised email from the franchise principle that never appeared. Nae bother eh!
  19. ain't got my money back ain't got any insurance ain't got the right plates on the car ain't got a V5 ain't getting any calls from the stealer Have just emailed the CEO of the group. Doubt it'll do much. Step 1 - get militarised unimog Step 2 - accidentally do bad 47 point turn around Toyota dealer lot
  20. Been able to restart the warranty debit with BM at least.
  21. Aaaand I've not bought a Land Cruiser So Toyota phones me up last night - "we're really sorry but we offered you £4k too much for your car we can't go through with the deal" "My plate is on retention and I've just scheduled the cancellation of my insurance" "Aye sorry about that, we'll cover your expenses but we won't go through with the deal" I started haggling over free servicing etc but eventually I just said that I didn't want it anymore give me my money back. Waiting on the call this morning to sort that out. Can't uncancel my car insurance either so I need to start a new policy. (anyone looking for insurance and you're looking at OneCall you can get £40 off with code - AM6) I also need to get new plates printed because my private plate is on retention (probably quicker and will be less hassle when I eventually switch). I also need to restart the direct debot for the extended warranty on the beemer which I'd also cancelled. I know I could threaten them with legal action as I have a signed contract for the sale of my vehicle but it's not worth the bother. The search goes on I guess.
  22. I tell you what I'll do. I'll do my best to enjoy the car with whatever I choose to do it, be it plough about in a field to go shooting or drive to Tesco at rush hour If I see you I'll give you a big smile and wave from me shiney new motor. What I won't do is moan like an old maid about other people choices. Now away and **** on someone elses parade.
  23. I didn't buy a RR George so I don't have the lofty entitlement to push lessor folk out of my way. It's just a Toyota so I shall park at the far end of the car park with the other terrorists. I've few pics on my phone but not time to move them somewhere they can be uploaded from for now.
  24. Aye bike rack is exactly what I wanted it for. But also for a trailer. SO's mother is downsizing so we need to collect a lot of stuff, I was going to hire a trailer but I can probably just fit it all in a door pocket for the LC. We did a we trial run to the supermarket on the drive, found out the LC is about a foot longer (+tow bar) than a standard space. 360 camera handily showed us hanging out front and back.
