Indeed and that's what loses me with EVs. I'm getting one but purely as cheap transport. I love cars, I've always loved cars but what I love isn't just performance it's the noise. The noise of my dream car isn't an electric whoosh, it's the grumble of a big block 70s American V8, or a Ferrari flat 12 at full chat. It's also the smell, the smell of oily bits and fuel is special thing. And the enginering, I appreciate that there is a super engineeing in these electric motors to make them powerful but I don't find it intersting. I find big bits of metal flying around interesting, turbos, superchargers, Victorian beam engines, ship engines etc etc. I still like mechnical watches even though digial is cheaper and more accurate. Never underestimate how stupid and greedy people can be. Most live in their own little worlds these days and probably genuinely think they did nothing wrong by taking photos of another car. The chap that took my Dad's car didn't even take it for a test drive. He was friendly towards me anyway because I'd offered to pick him up from the local station which he appreciated. Said he knocked £300 off a car the week before just because the guy left him hanging 10 miles away with no taxis and laughed at him for being stuck.

To the OP, yup sounds scammy. Especially the fake urgency. To add to the Motorway comments. I sold my Dad's car through that and got about £2000 more than the local dealers were offering. No hassle at all. Probably helped that the car was reasonably good condition and was going to a honda main dealer. I've heard some bad tales about Motorway but you can refuse the sale and as long as you have not misrepresented the car Motorway apparently Motoway will sanction the dealers for mucking around if you complain. There is the inbetween option. You can sell with Motorway, it is you selling privately but to dealers only. Sold my Dad's car through that and it went well. Got about £2000 more than a local dealer was offering to buy it. Will help that your car is main dealer ready. I sold my Dad's to a Honda main dealer. Dealers will buy anything that they think they can make a profit on. Bear in Mind Motorway will lure you in with a high ball estimate then knock it down with every bump and scratch but not to the silly extent that WBAC do. Plus it is still an auction and you could get more. I think they knocked £500 off the estimate for me (as said still much more than local Honda dealers), and it sold for that estimate. Dealer sent a guy up to collect the car no argument, money in my Dad's account within the hour. I have heard of sharp practice but you can say no and apparently motorway will kick them out the system if they abuse it. We'll be selling the countryman when the ID3 arrives and I will use Motorway again.

News to me that the charger must connect directly to the electric meter point. Which is a PITA since we've a detached garage so where we'd like to charge is a looooong way from the meter. Luckily we do have spaces at the house too but didn't really want the ugly black box out front.

Pulled the trigger on the ID3, the numbers were too good to say no to right now. Bumped the mileage to 15k for another £15 a month as long as it's silver. Black is cheaper than silver on 12k. Have asked if we can get a red one anyway as it seems nust that the colour changes the value based on mileage but must be some residual value calculation going on

will probably add the charge for it by default, then suggest your engine is coked up ad you need a clutch repacement too

Going OT but yeah attitude in the industry is an issue and it doesn't matter the brand I've been treated like a king in high end dealerships and like scum in low end and vice versa. Experience can be night and day between staff at the same dealership and doesnt seem to matter how much money you have in your pocket. I've always found Honda pleasent to deal with, and the guys at Ian Grieve in Falkirk have been excellent to me in all their franchises (Suzuki, Mazda, Jeep and Subaru), I bought cars from 3 out of 4 of them (no Jeeps). We went to look at the ID3 at a local dealership in Perth, I let slip we were leasing so didn't blag a test drive. It was a young guy in a sharp suit that came up to us, normally I avoid them as they have all been to sent to 'how to sell cars school' which is really "how not to sell cars to me school", but actually he was a nice chap and no bother.

So we'd kind-of dismissed this and were back to thinking that maybe a small derv would be the right thing for us. However I had a call booked with the Octopus EV person to go through the options etc. So mostly fluff but in the end got quoted on a VW ID3 (can't recall spec but can dig it up). Quote was £317 per month dalary sacrifice for 3yr at 12k a year. This included = maintenance, insurance, road tax, tyres at 20k or 2mm, free charger at home, and 6000mi energy credit. Deal also included discount rate with Octopus at 6p kWh overnight. The Clubman will use more than £400 a month in fuel. Plus it's an expensive bugger to run for everything else as well. It should sell for about £17k though. Seems almost too good to be true and I need to double check there isn't a £10k deposit or something.

I think you're right, Party B. Plod have form for abusing CCTV themselves. Misuse of CCTV is normally unlawful as opposed to illegal so plod won't get involved and will leave it to the regulator the ICO. The ICO in turn are completely overwhelmed and are unlikely to investigate anything that isn't a very serious breach of the legislation. So really to some extent you can do what you like but pointing the camera at a neighbours bedroom IS illegal and plod will step in.

Quite believable and Party A are completely within their rights in both cases.
