Thule Easyfold XT towbar bike rack
Rack folds out and bike sits onto the rack and secured with straps around each wheel.. The clamps don't suit a bike frame thats not tubular shape, the part of my bike frame which houses the battery isn't suitable for the clamps to fit. Thankfully the longer clamp will reach to my bikes crossbar, and the smaller clamp will fit the seat post part if I swivel the foldable lock holder away that I have fitted to the drinks bottle fixings. Though only one clamp is required per bike.

Thule Easyfold XT towbar bike rack
Multiple posts here due to photo file size limit... Finally decided to buy one of these, at £500 they aint cheap, but when folded it fits into the boot of the Yeti, which most other wouldn't. It also has a a higher max bike load limit of 30kg, where most have a 20kg limit, and my ebike is over 20kg. Nice and portable and easy to carry one handed. Fits nicely into the boot when folded...

Which version?
I didn't realise that, so my Yeti with its heated screen will have heated nozzles?

Which version?
I tow a caravan so I've recently purchsed a 2017 Yeti 2.0L DSG TDI 150PS 4x4 Outdoor SE L Drive which I love.

Cruise Control
Well thats precisely what I meant when I said I can't see the charging infrastructure being available.
-
Cruise Control
I can't see the charging infrastructure being available by 2030, and I reckon the government can't either. They have probably given this date to jump start manufacturers into boosting development of electric cars, and changing the mindset of motorists for them to get behind the idea, whilst knowing that the target date can't be met.

Cruise Control
Yes, but IC cars will still be around for a good many years after 2030, hence why I suggested 20 years. Theres always the chance that 2020 will get put back few years if the UK doesn't have everything in place for everyone to charge their EV cars etc.

Cruise Control
The weight of the car is a key factor, but even if they do stop making IC cars in 2030, they will still be on the road for many years after, unless forced off the road. If that ban ends up being delayed then that keeps IC cars on the road even longer. They could even rise in value due to demand by those who need them, who knows? Twenty or so years is a long time to see what will happen.

Adaptive CC really is good isn't it, we had it on the wifes Tiguan. Was great when towing out caravan, made the journey really easy.

Westfalia towbar fitted
The only time I get to overtake people in my LR Defender is when theres snow, then I cruise past every other car with ease as they struggle. Maybe now I'll also be able to do the same in my Yeti?

I'm told that the VW Toureg has upgraded cooling fas if specified with the tow kit when ordered brand new. You'd think a car that six would be more than capable of towing straight out of the box. Well at least I'm now ready to tow my caravan, just in time for Lockdown 2 to close caravan sites again !!!

Jacking kit - Anything missing?
Interesting, thanks. Seems like I have a complete kit which is good.

Yes I guess that makes sense, a mixture of each method. Nothing more annoying than doing the 'handbrake & N/P' method, only to then have to go straight back to D if you suddenly have the chance to move off.

New Yeti owner
Well the towbar and SmartLink Apple CarPlay are now ticked off my list as done. I got the SmartLink activated at the dealers on Tuesday which cost me £146. Not cheap but Apple CarPlay is very good. I'ts nice to have the Apple apps on the cars display. I'll mostly be using Amazon Music, Waze and Audible. One thing I've noticed with Audible is when selecting a chapter of an audiobook to play, it sometimes starts playing a completely different audio book, which is strange. Other than that, I love it. Next job will be the Haldex clean, although the previous owner did have the Haldex oil change at 30k miles (now got 35k miles) but I can't be sure the filter was cleaned. Next i need a boot liner, but all the season tyres may have to wait until next year if the money tree develops some fruit.

DSG Gearbox
Can I ask which method you prefer to use please Lee, if your at a red light thats going to be red for a while. Do you prefer to sit with foot on the brake, or apply handbrake and select N or P?

DSG Gearbox
No, Im happy with my Yeti. I've never owned an automatic car before, the Tiguan we had was the wifes company car and I didn't give much thought to how I drove it or how it worked. But the Yeti is mine, so now I'm interested in how it works as I will have to pay for any unnecessary repairs. Thats all.

The front ends of Golfs and Polos are getting stolen where I live.

North West Towbars fitted my Westfilia towbar yesterday with dedicated wiring for £600. Nice people, very professional.

Jacking kit - Anything missing?
Not to my knowledge it isn't, and I work in a sector that should know. Catlalytic converter thefts are the new alloy wheel thefts.

I'm in the third group, I didn't have a clue , and the Yeti has now replaced it so I'll never know.

DSG Gearbox
Our Tiguan had auto hold, so we could come to a stop and leave it in D, and the engine would stop and the brakes would apply. We could then pull away again with the auto hold self releasing. Much better system than the Yeti, but the it had a different gearbox.

DSG Gearbox
But that requires you to keep your foot on the foot brake, which I don't want to do. I'd rather shove it into N with the handbrake on, but annoyingly this causes the engine to restart as soon as you lift your foot off the brake pedal. That suggests that Skoda want you to put it into P instead, but then you working your way through N & R to get to P, and then back again when you set off. As well as flashing your reverse light, it seems excessive wear on the gearbox.

DSG Gearbox
Well I'm now using N when stopping at traffic lights etc, having applied handbrake. But as referred to earlier, when lifting my foot off the brake pedal the engine restarts, which kind of defeats the reason for stop/start in the first place.
