  1. Def different to mine!! Odd isn't it?
  2. Perhaps the car manufacturers tweaked their sofware to meet emissions tests at the detriment of E5 fuel users?? Maybe (just maybe) VAG tweaked their cars to be great in the latest tests and those tests used E10 (perhaps). For the UK the emissions might have been (perhaps) worse until the UK adopted E10 as the engine was tweaked via software algorithms to run most efficiently on E10 and E5??? We all remember Diesilgate and the lengths some manufacturers went to to manipulate the figures with all sorts of unkown consequences. Who knows what they might have done here with a 2019 1.5tsi with DSG to scrape it past WLTP and who knows why my car "seems to be better" on E10 than it was on E5. I know nothing of these things and am speculating wildly with no real knowlege to be honest. What I do like is my new more fuel efficient Karoq 🙂 If it is not all 2019 1.5TSi DSG Karoq's then it must be snake oil (some other factor like Roadworks on usual routes, driving slower because of mobile speed traps that are in over exuberent force in my area just now, etc. etc.) or... My car was set overly lean at teh factory and was never picked up in the two services (or adjusted) - but I don't know if it even a fixed thing these days (controlled dynamically by the ECU???). or.. my car was tweaked at the last service (August) in anticipation of E10 rolling out in September ??? Probably snake oil - ha ha... Paul
  3. Well the Karoq I have must have come from the factory "a bit lean" then (perhaps by mistake or perhaps in anticipation of folk using E10 fuel). All I can say is my MPG appears to be a little better and not a little worse (and I'm happy with that). 🙂 The car has been serviced by VAG twice (once about 2 months ago). On the subject of Oxygen : https://auto.howstuffworks.com/oxygen-engine.htm Its not just a binder 🙂 but - of course not relavant or useful in this application either. Cheers, Paul
  4. Hi, It only drops down if you brake a bit. 😀 If you are behind another car and need to slow , say 5mph. That was my gripe. If you don't brake it doesn't drop down unless its a very steep hill and it can see you are speeding up a lot.
  5. I most certainly can. I use it daily and always turn off stop/start at the outset of my journey (if I remember) or at the first annoying stop if I forget. Autohold is a "Godsend" in my books. Cheers, Paul
  6. This might be snake oil and totally contradicts my "googled" knowlege but on my 1.5TSI DSG (DQ200) I was getting around 36-38Mpg on an average short run with the old e5 fuel and to my astonishment it seems to have GONE UP to 40+ MPG when using E10 (with no other additives). Today I got 43MPG and I am not light footed. I have never got 43 before on a 20 mile journey. way to go E10 !! My car obviously likes it better than E5
  7. I have this occasionally. Mainly when wet and/or taking off on an incline. I had to learn how to drive again with DSG - gentle on the accelerator until moving and then its okay to floor it a bit more. I came from a car with an old style "planetary" auto and also Haldex 4wd and a heavy 2L diesil lump at the front (Tiguan) and it is very very different in a 2WD Karoq with a light engine and DSG and a heavy "go faster" foot. I'm 99% certain what you are getting is wheelspin that is being counteracted by the TCS (Traction control system). The wheels start to spin due to lack of front end weight and reduced traction dues to moisture / new tyres with coating still on / taking off uphill and the TCS makes the front wheels seem to judder horribly. When I first picked the Karoq up it was a straight swap from the Tiguan and my God I nearly stoved it when pulling out of the Stealership's forecourt. It was quite scary. Cheers, Paul
  8. That is the polar opposite to mine. I wonder if that is a difference between the 1.0 DSG mapping and the 1.5 DSG mapping. Mine is also 2019 so the harvesting algorithms may well be different I suppose. Who knows 🙂 cheers, Paul
  9. I'm not too sure about that one. The DSG is very (overly) happy to drop down a gear or two when braking (even gently) and going downhill. As this is "by design" from the engineers and is doing "engine braking" in the programing you would hope/expect it not be a bad/detremental thing for the DSG gearbox? I often find myself having to manually shift back to M7 when I tapped the brake to increase my distance from the car in front and going downhill due to this engine braking that kicks in. it does this even if the revs are still perfectly high enough to support D7 (if say on the flat). I often end up taping it back to M7 (if safe to do so) and within a short time it just goes back to D7. I know you can also get it to go back to D7 by accelerating a bit but when going downhill this is not alays desirable or necessary (if you are maintainining your speed in D7). The DSG dropping gears means that the car can slow (often too much) and you end up wasting fuel accelerating back to your desired speed. If it left well alone (unless you were braking quite a bit more sharply) it would have been more economical. My DQ200 is not a happy bunny (bit of a Kangaroo) over rough driveways in D at around 5-7mph. If you know what to expect then you can feather the accelerator and smooth it out to a degree. I tried ECO mode and it did not help so I will try S mode with interest and see if it smooths it out a bit more. Other than that (and the annoying engine braking downhill) it is pretty good. 🙂
  10. I think that without a battery the transponder inside the key still works but only in very close proximity to the reciever behind the stop/start button. This is why you have to have the transponder within 1-2mm of the stop/start button (or to keep it simple press the start button with the key which by definition means its less than 1-2mm from the button if the battery is flat). The transponder requires no power. E.G.: https://www.lockfix24.co.uk/our-service/more/car-keys-explained Regards, Paul
  11. I bet not many people realised that. I didn't so top marks for pointing it out 🙂
  12. The roll-up parcel shelf lets all the noise through from the wheels - it is not great - especially with noisy tyres :-) . It also lets all the noise through from shopping bags and other items in the boot. I would take the fixed shelf any day of the week. I have the roll-up shelf :-(
  13. Didn't someone smash that window trying to break in to your car and if so wouldn't the glass replacement (and the correct fitting of all of the glass trim and rubbers) be claimable on your car insurance glass breakage cover (for between £25 and £50 - depending upon your policy)
  14. It does sound like accidental ECO mode and/or accidental S mode. It's probably snake oil (and many folk suggest it does nothing) but you could always try the fabled DSG reset procedure: https://www.hypermiler.co.uk/gearbox/how-to-fix-those-clunky-gear-changes-with-a-dsg-reset-vw-skoda-audi-seat-gearbox-auto It might make a difference and would not do any harm I would guess. For Kessy I am guessing you need to turn the ignition on (without starting the engine) and then press teh accelerator beyone Max (into kick down) and hold it there for 20 seconds then start the engine I would also do the same procedure and instead of starting the engine press the stop start to turn off the ignition, close the car and lock it. Wait 3 minutes and then start the car normally (alternative methoud out there). Got to be worth a shot before getting it to the garage for a check.
  15. Fair point.
  16. There was one on sale on ebay - not sure if it was Iamholom or not but it was a touch expensive (for very valid reasons as I imagine bespoke 3D printing is both time consuming and expensive for small volumes by a hard working individual).
  17. Obviously at "chinese" type prices I applaud the efforts of the 3D printing by Iamholom. Maybe some nice chinese "scouting" firm will find this. Maybe pop it on AliExpress with a nice juicy price tag and then have 20 or 30 of us to ask a question about the price - that might help them find it . Give it 5 months and it will be on a boat over here for the friendly ebay sellers for about £15 Well - maybe pre-pandemic it might have been.

I agree! We all know they are a bit of a rip-off but a few people on here venting their displeasure is not going to change things. Only Government legislation can do that so writing to an organisation like Which? is really the only viable option to get change at this level. If enough people complain to people like Which? they will investigate and hilight it in a way that might make a small difference in direction and policy that will (might) eventually lead to a change in the Cartel squashing laws that might make VAG change how they operate. Don't hold your breath on that one though :-) You already know all of that anyway
  19. I wish these were commercially available :-) The original cup holder in the Karoq (of that design) - is a joke! Just make that key holder a bit bigger so that it can take things other than the key and it would be my nirvana :-)
  20. I agree with OP - Simply Cr*p design. Who needs the key holder in that and the 12v plastic bung holder? They could have got rid of those and made the two cup holders bigger and more useful. Key holder - really!! I have my key on a keyring with house keys - am I really going to leve them in that slot to get forgotten or in my pocket where they belong? For me its always the pocket. Do I really want that bunch sitting there and jangling for the entire trip? No thanks. 3" deeper too and you could even get a normal bottle of water (500ml) in there and still have the armrest in-place. The designers must have been either on a severe budget or never used a cup/bottle that the rest of use get from a take-away lunch outlet in their entire lives. While on the subject - the glove box in the karoq, should you decide to make use of the cooling feature, has room for only one very stubby bottle/container and very slim design water or drink and just about nothing else at the same time. You can just about squeeze two in there if you want to put them under pressure and risk them leaking all over the place. Another really well designed feature - Not!

:-) The mann frecious plus has a special coating that traps/kills bacteria and moulds (meant to keep the AC smelling better for longer amongst other things) :-)

£35 for a pollen filter isn't exactly cheap either. I can get a Mann Frecious Plus filter for the Karoq for £20 and it takes 1 minute to fit. This is "main dealer" rip off - it's always been that way. It is the purposeful blocking of independent garages working on the modern cars that is the real issue going forward. Its then a cartel.

That was the "old world" though. We have had a global pandemic and Brexit since then. Don't forget that the EU are going to be making an example of the UK to the rest of the EU to make sure no other country in the EU tries to do the same thing. Many things have increased massively (and even doubled in price in some cases) in the UK since. Just look at wood for example for building projects and the price of 2nd hand cars. Good luck trying to get your usual EU mix of lovelies from the likes of Aldi and Lidl too (XXL Snitzel packs at Lidl being a long distant happy memory). We can (at the end of year 3) all vote with our feet I guess and use the indy network but now they are making it almost impossible to use them too because of the cost of VAS alternatives and the locking down of the controllers. Welcome to 2021/22 :-(

Don't know where you get your inspection service but mine is not going to be £99 in 2 weeks!! More like: That's my second service (the inspection service). Even without the Oil and Pollen filter that's £200 odd. :-)
