Replace key battery message
Hi, That's what I would expect too agedbriar. If my battery was constantly at 11.4V (or even 11.9V) then it suggests that there may be someting wrong with the battery or someting else is causing battery drain (like the Kessy being faulty or someting else). I'm no expert mind 🙂

Are you sure about that?

Replace key battery message
So I just changed my 1YO Duracell and its still reading 3.02V on a multimeter but like a good person I am changing it. One thing I did notice is that the Duracells have an anti-child casing but also an anti-die if you swallow sticky label on the minus side.I removed this last year (obviously) but on the old battery I noticed a small sliver of tape that did not come off when I ripped off the sticker last time round. It was totally invisible 1 year ago but age,air and dust has made it more noticable. It goes virtually half way around the rim of the minus side as you can see. I wonder if some folk are leaving this bit of tape attached and, if you pop the battery in and this bit of tape happens to be where the contacts are - it may stop it working properly (or at all). One to watch out for 🙂 I have half peeled it off the old Duracell CR2025 battery so you can see what I mean:

Replace key battery message
I am using Duracell in my 2 keyfobs and I put them in to both keys over a year ago. No issues here and never had an issue since they were replaced by the ones (presumably) put in by skoda when I got the car as a 1YO in March 2019. It is the old Kessy without the "sleep mode" on the fob. I planned to replace them every year whether they need it or not, just before the annual service, so this is a good reminder that mine have been in for 13 months now.

Intermittent Passenger Dock Lock Fault, anything I can do?
I would challenge their decision with Skoda UK - I would also tell Skoda UK before the warranty expires - you have reported this fault prior to the warranty expiring so it should be fixed (if they capitulate) even if it is after the expiry date. what you need to do (if possible) is to keep trying to make it happen and video the activity each time. You might get lucky and record it happening which would add to your case. An intermitent fault is still a fault. Well that's what I think anyway. Good luck Paul

Pointless automotive trends part 232
If it was a pot hole that caused the damage then get back to it and take a photograph of it with a ruler in situ and you should be able to successfully make a claim against the council. For that sort of money it has to be worth persuing. Cheers Paul

If not Touranzas, then what?
I changed over for Michelin Crossclimate 2 SUV's on my 18" 2019 1.5tsi DSG. An excellent (truly excellent) tyre. Best deal was (at the time) ASDA with a £50 rebate card See my posts on the subject. I posted some pictures of the "sticky out" nature too even though they don't have an official rim protection bead. I tend to scrape the kerb a bit during parking and so far - no scratched alloys. IMHO - you won't regret getting them. Cheers, Paul

1.5DSG vs 1.6TDI DSG
The only other variable that changed for me was changing over to a new set of Michelin crossclimate 2 SUV's a few weeks ago. These are "meant" to reduce MPG but I have not found this to be the case so far. The best I ever got was around 43mpg when driving like a Nun on E10 and the Turanza's and now 49.7. It may be the summer / winter fuel effect or it might be that the Michelin's are just a much much better tyre (for many many other reasons over fuel consumption)?? Of course - they are also much much more expensive 🙂 Best £586 investment I ever made on any car I have ever had!!. Wish I'd changed those old "ditch finders" on day 1. It's like a different car - quieter, holds the road better, virtually no wheelspin (even in damp conditions) and I generally feel safer and happier with them. The Turanza's were like Fred Flintsone's feet in his car - moving like the clappers and going nowhere - if it was even a tiny bit hilly and damp). My DSG can now do "its thing" like its meant to. Who knows?!?

ps... That was on Asda E10 🙂 49.7 - I know - I thought that was pretty good!!

Android Auto for phone screens will stop working soon.
If only Waze didn't teke me down many many dangerous single track country lanes it would be a contender (for me). As it is - it is pretty unusable if you live in a rural location. I did ask the Waze forums and a solution for "Avoiding Narrow UK Roads" was not forthcoming when I last gave it a spin. Google maps (in my location) is abysmal at being accurate on road closures (something to do with Devon County Council's link from the OneNetwork to Google not working as it should so that is out too for me (as being reliable). I just went back to TomTom Go which (for all its faults) now works with Android Auto and importantly the traffic seems to be quite good and the routing seems to be more sensible than Google Maps and Waze. you can also plan a route online and have it sent to TomTom Go on the phone and it all seems to be quite nice. The only thing that (at the moment) is not working is to be able to ask it to "Avoid a roadblock ahead" via the car screen. To do that you have to pick up the phone and do it and it is then reflected on the Car screen. The downside.... £20 per year but hey - its only money. better than being routed down a crummy farm track during harvest season or holiday season and better than being told to go down such and such a road when you know full well that it's closed.

1.5DSG vs 1.6TDI DSG
Although - I was stuck behind a van today for the entire journey (at around 40mph) and for a laugh I tried to eek it out as much as possible and after 5 miles I was at 49.7Mpg - I thought I was going to hit the ne'er before seen (by me) holy grail of 50Mpg but the journey came to an end 1/2 mile too soon 🙂

1.5DSG vs 1.6TDI DSG
Agreed. All these folk with a 1.5tsi and getting 50-55-60mpg etc. used to make me worry that my car was faulty. For my 1.5Tsi DSG I get around 38-40Mpg on a good run and very occasionally 42Mpg if I drive ultra carefully. On a short run (few miles) in hilly area it can be as low as 30Mpg. On a fast motorway run (80-85mph) for an hour or more it is around 35Mpg (not that I would do that of course - it would be illegal).

Amudsen MIB2 how to see the date
Ah well. Glad I was not missing something obvious in the settings. 🙂

Amudsen MIB2 how to see the date
Hi all, For those with MIB2 I wanted to ask if there is an easy and quick way to see the date. I know this is a bit of a first world problem but, when driving, I sometimes want to remind myself of the exact date (especially if on a hands free call) but the only way I can see to acheve that is to enable the "standby clock" screensaver and then wave my hand near the MIB2. then the date is diaplayed below the clock. Problem is that I find that clock a bit distracting to have on all the time and don't really ant to have the screen revert to the clock after 10 Seconds (the two ways to chow the screensaver/clock. There doesn't seem to be any other one or two press method to see the date. I wish it was shown alongside teh time at teh top when the unit is on but, alas, not. I am probably missing something very simple (like a brain - ha ha) but is there another way? Thanks Paul

Tyre replacement for Karoq 1.5TSi (2WD) - 215/50 R18 92W - Limited Choices
Apologies for the filthy Alloys but I hope this helps a bit. These are the SUV CC2's and while there is no marking "FP" or "CPJ" on them (which I am led to believe is the Michelin lingo for rim protection) - they do stick out a fair bit from the Alloy and they do have a reasonable lip on them. Maybe Michelin don't mark them up anymore??? I put some tape on to show the gap: Today I had to do a "foot to the floor" exit from a dry T junction and no wheel spin. On the same junction in teh same conditions I have had a few occasions where the Turanza's lit up and Traction Control kicked in. this was on 50% lock to turn right. I am well impressed! These things are night and day to the Turanza's. Don't delay - just do it!! 🙂

Tyre replacement for Karoq 1.5TSi (2WD) - 215/50 R18 92W - Limited Choices
The Michelins are soooooo much quieter than the old Turanza's for general roar and the potholes are definately softer. It's like a different car. Not enough miles on the clock yet to judge MPG dropoff but I'm fully prepared for around 10%. Anything better than that will be a bonus. The wheelspin (so far) seems non-existent (but I've not not tested it at my "nemesis" uphill T junction in damp conditions yet as I want to scrub them in properly for a few weeks). Very pleased indeed!

Tyre replacement for Karoq 1.5TSi (2WD) - 215/50 R18 92W - Limited Choices
Ha ha!! with the 19's isn't the lowest figure is meant to be 2.4 (34.8psi)? (that is what it says on my 2wd Karoq at any rate):

I admit - that was a bit extreme (the video). But it scared me enough to shell out the extra (apart from hating the Turanza's with a passion that is). 🙂

Tyre replacement for Karoq 1.5TSi (2WD) - 215/50 R18 92W - Limited Choices
Out of interest. Did you see the comments on various forums and youtube tests about mixing All Season with Summer tyres on the same car. Most say it is a big No-No. That's why I replaced all 4. > This is mixing Summer and Winter tyres but I think the same applies to Summer and All-Season too.

Tyre replacement for Karoq 1.5TSi (2WD) - 215/50 R18 92W - Limited Choices
Hi Roottoot. I was really going by the type plate in the fuelcap. It states: 2.1Bar = 30.4psi 32psi (my pressure) = 2.2Bar Interestingly I was running at 35psi (2.4Bar) and when I took it in for a service at VAG they actually reduced the pressures all around to approx. 30psi I never asked them about the tyres etc. They just did it of their own bat. When I ran at 2.5Bar (which I did for a while) - the steering felt very light and the traction was abysmal. Obviously that was with the Turnza's and I don't know a whole lot about the Michelin Crossclimate 2's but it seems 32 is is about right ?? Open to ideas though. Cheers, Paul

Tyre replacement for Karoq 1.5TSi (2WD) - 215/50 R18 92W - Limited Choices
so...... finally - I got the tyres changed over. A shiny new set of 4 Michelin Crossclimate 2 SUV - 215/50 R18 92W For reference - Cost was £580 odd quid after the £50 Michelin cashback offer from ASDA (fited locally). Just adjusted the cold pressures (as the garage set them to 38psi) - I popped them down to 32psi and will report back here in a month or two once they are bedded in and I can get to see how they feel 🙂 I feel a lot happier now that I have got rid of the awful Bridgestone Turanza t001's that liked to spin up at the merest bit of dampness and did not feel at all safe when cornering at speed in the cold and/or wet. I know its an odd time of the year to change over to all season tyres but... The fronts only had a smidge under 2mm of meat left (rears around 5mm) - due to all that damp weather wheelspinning with the DSG (and the 1st MOT is due in July) so I took the plunge sooner rather than later. Obviously going from Summer to All Season's I had to do all 4 corners. I guess I could have tried to flog the 2 rear Turanza's on fleabay or similar but life is too short. I let the garage have them to do with what they liked 🙂 Cheers, Paul

2019 Karoq TPMS - How Done?
Hi, Can anyone advise please. Just about to replace all 4 tyres and was wondering about TPMS and whether any replacement TPMS sensors are require. Reason I ask is that I got a quote from KwikFit and the shopping cart mentions about a "new valve" or "New valve with TPMS Stem Servicing kit". Needless to say I want to make sure I'm not fleeced 🙂 Cheers, Paul

Amundsen MIB2 Firmware Update
P0480T installed on my head unit and with no ill effects!! Having said that I can also see no obvious benefits that are going to change my life 🙂 Mainly using SD card music and Android Auto for Navigation. Maybe Android Auto seems a bit quicker to launch but that might be wishful thinking.
