  1. Bit of an update:

44,000 miles done, another service due soon

Need yet another windscreen, that's 3 in all

Chrome door trim coming off again, campaign was done and claimed but trim is coming off intermittently so needs to go back again

Tow bar getting lots of use, great addition

Colleague borrowed it and scuffed an alloy!

Headlights seem better aligned since the accident repair but have only driven it once at night

Apart from the power plant I just preferred the look of the Superb. Yeah I've had a few niggles but I don't keep carping on about 'em ;-) and they have so far been sorted to my satisfaction. I would buy another.

Just leave the moaning to MartiniB !!!

its 225/40R18 and 225/35R19 as standard I think?

Yes but price differential is going to be similar.

    Same brand again - Pirelli:

    18s - P6 Cinturato XL - £94.34

    19s - P Zero XL - £164.21

    Cheapest 19 from supplier.

Sat in one of these at the weekend - I agree the outside is lovely but the inside is cramped, uncomfortable and cheap looking.

    Typical Alfa then!

That's the £60K model you're showing. The standard model is not as low or as sexy. The boot is too small and access to narrow. The stop/start is quite agricultural. And they're having first year teething problems, if you read the Alfa Romeo forums. Still...

    Shame.

I think the Alfa is auto-only in the UK as well...

Not sure I like the front end of the Arteon...   it doesn't seem to have been thought through properly with that body coloured lip on the leading edge of the bonnet between the lights - looks a bit droopy to me.

I think they didn't want to upset the grille lines coming off the headlights - there are 2 of them, having a third would make it look odder than it is now. But you're right it does look a bit of an afterthought. Strange that Skoda dropped the large opening hatch in the S3 but then VW pick it up in this.

  5. I have mine set to "late" and on occasions they have come on when going through trees in bright sunlight. I'm still confused at times when they have or haven't come on!

The 'other thing' is more than likely for the climate control.

Could be - but I thought the air con sensor was in the unit with the courtesy lights etc :wondering:

  6. I went from 17s to 19s when I changed to the Superb 3 - I've noticed the ride is harsher but I expected that anyway.

In terms of price differential, just done a quick check of 235/45R18 vs 235/40R19 and it's £50 per tyre different (£135.15 vs £188.18) - Pirelli P7.

That sounds like a problem I used to have, which in my case was pure driver-error. In my previous car I'd got into the bad habit of knocking the car into neutral and then coasting / braking gently to the point where I braked fully to stop. Of course, with start / stop, putting the car in neutral and lifting your foot off the clutch (if manual) will cause the engine to cut out.

It's not just manuals, it does it with the auto 'box too. At least mine does.

It does cut the engine a second or two before stopping.  The steering feels like it 'locks' but its just the assistance cutting out - you can still steer its just stiffer and if you do yank the wheel around the engine will restart.  It is slightly disconcerting at first but you'll get used to it.  Or you can deactivate the start/stop system which will prevent it from happening

Is this just the start/stop cutting in?

I had it for the first few days until i started switching the S/S off at the start of the each journey. I will at some point get it programmed out permanently.
