  1. You will always get outside smells in the car, even in recirc mode. A car cannot be hermetically sealed. Eventually you would become drowsy and suffocate, so there is always a fresh airflow, just greatly reduced by using the recirc button.
  2. You need to poke something pointy in the little hole on the connector. A dart or something similar, from memory.
  3. My thinking exactly. It does feel like a manual gearbox when the clutch is "dumped" rather than ridden.
  4. Hi, search didn't help so hopefully someone else can. My parking space requires me to reverse up an incline of about 10 degrees at an angle, then move forward into my car port. (half of a 3 point turn) After engaging reverse I gently tap the throttle and let the car creep backwards, then drive forward. No issues. If I want to move a bit more swiftly in reverse, people waiting etc, and I apply some throttle to move it quickly there is a big thud when I let of the gas. Is this just normal behaviour of the DSG clutch disengaging under load, or a sign of something more serious? Thanks
  5. British police cars can be found hiding behind hedgerows.
  6. I had this on a Ford Focus many years ago. Ford tried resealing the rear qtrs, resealing the rear window etc etc. It ended up being poor welding along a roof seam. Luckily all covered by Ford.
  7. Yes, PDR. Most pulled from the outside and a little bit of work from the inside, so he told me.
  8. Can highly recommend The Dent Men in Hertfordshire. £125+vat. After being told that it wouldn't be possible for PDR by a local coachworks it took The Dent Men under an hour to sort this out.
  9. Thanks. Hadn't thought of that.
  10. No. Definitely not doing that. It looks like a coding issue.
  11. Hi, When the front wipers are on with the engine running, and the ignition is switched off, my wipers stay in their last position, often verticle. On my last car the wipers would complete their travel and finish in the horizontal position. Is this normal behaviour for the Superb, or is my control unit faulty?
  12. Struggling to get anyone who thinks they can do it with a PDR ☹️
  13. Yeah, that's all it is, a small crease, no paint damage. I'll see if a pdr centre can sort it out cheaper.
  14. So....like a prize plum I reversed into a horizontal fence today. The reverse sensors were going off, but I guess they had picked up the vertical posts 😭. I got a quote from chipsaway and they reckon £360!! as a respray is required. Anyone else had a similar repair done?
  15. Turn the engine off!! Surely that is one of the most dangerous things to do. Lose power steering and braking?
  16. I'm not complaining, just reckon a lot of people must spend their whole life being overtaken
  17. Well, I obviously wear lead lined boots as I've not managed an average of more than 45mpg on a 2.0 DSG oil burner.
  18. Hi Martin, Did you replace the whole selector, or just the inlay? Where did you get it?
  19. The ford would have cost similar at a main stealer, that's why I use independent garages. A service is a service as far as I'm concerned, as long as manufacturers parts are used.
  20. I just replaced a 10 year old Ford Galaxy. It had it's first cambelt at 10 years or 125,000 miles. It does seem a short interval on VW/Audi but my local garage did my Galaxy for £300, so assuming the Skoda is a similar price it's just an extra £300 over 10 years. Not something that would stop me buying the car TBH.
  21. You are correct Mark. My post was poorly worded. I was trying to say it's 5 years, even if mileage is very low.
  22. Yes it's definitely 5 years, irrespective of mileage. I believe VW group revised down their cambelt interval due to early failures a few years ago.
  23. My driver window doesn't always work as I think it should. I assumed it was just me imagining things, but now I've read this I'm thinking it's the car.
  24. Agree, poor form. I'm concidering getting a tint to "correct" this error, as I can't unsee it now.
  25. Anyone with an Estate with sunset glass care to confirm that the rear passenger windows are darker than the boot glass and quarters. Mine definitely is, and very noticeable from inside. Just wondered if this is normal.
