  1. I used a cheap OBD2 and carscanner software to disable stop/start. Best Β£20 I've spent.
  2. TMBKH7NP3H7537237
  3. Hi, I've been advised to get a pair of rear shocks for my MK3 Estate 2.0 Diesel 150hp. Does anyone know the OEM part number, or how I can find them from the VIN? Many thanks
  4. Thanks all. I've managed to find some eBay specials, 16" with tyres. The calculator shows they are almost identical overall size. The offset is higher but clearance appears good. Being a total novice to this it's been an eye-opener, but hope I've got it right😬
  5. Visiting the Highlands in February. It's about 10 hour drive for me and don't fancy doing that on Summer tyres.
  6. Sorry to ask, but I'm really struggling. I need some all weather or winter tyre for a holiday. I currently have 235/40/19 8J ET45 XL (96V) I have seen for sale 235/45/17 7.5J ET44 but not XL (97V) They are Audi wheels. Can anyone confirm if these are ok? I have looked on "will they fit" website but still unsure. Does the XL matter? Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi all, sun's out, fan has broken ☹️ I'm guessing it is the motor as it sometimes works but makes a nasty grinding noise. Has anyone else replaced the blower motor? It looks like the glove box will have to come out. If there is a guide anywhere I'd appreciate a link. I did a search and only found other Skoda models and not the MK3. Thanks in advance.
  8. So it appears that all my glow plug warnings, occasional sluggish start, were down to the battery only having 49% capacity. Diagnostic test, new Yuasa battery and coding, Β£204. Wasn't expecting a battery, so happy that the glow plugs all seem ok. Here's to the next 100,000 miles.
  9. I've had starting issues, on and off, for a couple of months but it has been ok for the last two weeks. Today the flashing glow plug symbol on the dashboard. Spoke to the garage and they said its more than likely to be the Control Unit, but cannot tell without diagnostics. Is this located in the engine bay? How do you tell from the fuse box layout, is it marked as it's not obvious to me. Thanks
  10. Two stones came from cars coming the other way. Third not sure, maybe.
  11. Had a stone inpact that caused a crack about 18 months ago and had a new replacement. 4 weeks ago had another stone chip and massive crack. Whilst waiting for the new screen had another huge crack from another impact! Today, 2 week old screen got hit by nothing more than a grain of sand and I'm now booked in for a repair! Are these screens pathetically weak, am I unlucky, or is it the shape of the car? 8 years in a Ford Galaxy and never had a new screen, and had plenty of stones just bounce of that.
  12. Sorry to revive an old thread but, I've finally got round to replacing my gear knob with an LED one from China for Β£37. All seems very good, but one observation is that the button doesnt fully "pop" out when in reverse, it retains a mid position. I'm jow wondering if the original also did this and i never noticed! Could it be a feature so you can tell you're in R by feel? Thanks ps if you decide to do this youself do not press the button without the gear knob on the shaft. I learnt the hard way.
  13. I know who I'll believe. Over the past 35 years Powerdown has developed the most comprehensive range of truck, trailer & bus shock absorbers designed specifically for β€œExcellence in Performance, Safety & Value”
  14. Wow, you're a credit to the forum. Thanks for sharing.
  15. https://powertorque.com.au/misting-shocks-are-often-misdiagnosed/ "It is a fact that misting shocks are often misdiagnosed as failures, however this is a normal and necessary function, and there’s a bit of a debate among mechanics between misting and leaking shock absorbers requiring replacement during shock absorber inspections. As the shock absorber rod moves out, some of the hot oil coating the rod evaporates before condensing in the cooler outside air onto the shock absorber body. Shock absorber rod seals rely on this thin film of oil to keep the seal lubricated and to prolong seal life."
  16. Not my belief, as I'm not a mechanic, it what I was told by my mechanic and replies that I have read from other mechanics on similar forums as this.
  17. My mechanic tells me that misting is often misinterpreted as leaking. Any shock that has been over-compressed (pot hole etc) will have a slight bit of misting, and isn't always a cause for concern. I ran a Vauxhall Astra in the 90's where misting was mentioned on every MOT the car had whilst I owned it. The last service on my Superb said misting but the MOT said nothing.
  18. I'm glad my days of driving for smiles is over πŸ˜‰ These fuel economies would make me cry.
  19. It'll take a year to sort out I reckon. We are being quoted 26 weeks for standard electronics parts, and 52 weeks for more specialist bits. 52 weeks being the maximum time their ordering system allows, so >52 weeks in reality.
  20. There is a rain sensor setting in the menu for the rear wiper That hasn't been changed has it? Before you go dismantling it.
  21. I think mine took about 2 turns. I can only assume the previous owner was happy driving around without being able to see properly in the dark.
  22. These modern cars with their helpful diagnostics πŸ˜†
  23. Have they changed, or tested, the injectors?
  24. My estate is nearly always fully loaded. I'm sure my last setting was 2.9F and 3.2R bar, but that seems high when I look at the PSI equivalent.
