Usb C by mirror, can you retrofit
I asked the dealer in March and they said factory fit, but it only went on the options list in January. I'm not brave enough to remove the existing cover to see if there's an existing connector for the socket to attach to.

Delivery times
I ordered mine on October 23rd and it was with the dealer around 8th to 10th Feb. They'd originally said early January, which would have meant I wouldn't have had to service and MOT my old car. Picked it up on Monday. Mine was held up at Emden due to Covid and Brexit delays. It was produced before the chip shortage hit.

Becoming a new owner of the Kamiq
It depends on any backlog at Emden. Mine was there considerably longer than that which the dealer put down to COVID restrictions in France pushing port traffic to other ports.

Kamiq - Best options?
I've got a reversing camera on my current car and have specified it for my Kamiq as it helps with visibility, especially of bollards.

Front Assist Inoperable
It's normal, either there's a build up of snow on the sensor or the snow is so heavy that the radar signal is getting dissipated.

Horn is embarrassing
The new steering wheels are two spoke rather than three.

New SE L boot rattle
Check the space saver is properly screwed down. I had a Mk 1 Fabia and had to keep tightening it as it would make a similar noise.

Ride Quality - 18” and 17” wheels.
I've been a passenger in my dad's Kamiq SEL several times and have found it compliant. I currently drive a SEAT Ateca on 18 inch wheels and the Kamiq is more compliant and comfortable. It had a little more bounce to it, but nothing to be concerned about. I do have a Kamiq on order and had a test drive in October. It was the SEL I drove and it was fine. I always take test drives that involve speed bumps just to get a feel for the suspension. I make a point to test drive the same wheels wherever possible. It's softer than the Ateca and most reviewers of that car say 18 is the best balance between ride and handling.

Kessy
It is an option in the UK. The best way to see if you've got it is to look on the driver's external door handle for a horizontal groove. This is where you'd put your finger to lock the car.

Security codes
It's not for the keys. There would have originally been a tag with the keys that many early owners lost or out aside for safe keeping and forgot to include when selling the car. I know when I traded in one Fabia for another the dealer expressed surprise that the tag was still with the spare key. Skoda customer services or a dealer will be able to supply the code but will probably need the VIN.

New Car today
Just had a look at the brochure and it doesn't get a mention. I guess it'll be a question for the dealer or customer services. Have you got any light in the boot?

New Car today
The boot light should be included, but I don't think the cable is. Check the umbrella in the driver's door as my dad found his was missing.

Skoda Kamiq driving seat height
I'd imagine most insurers would not like modifications to the seat, but most would happily take a higher premium from you. Might be worth asking a broker for ideas on the impact of such a modification. Suspect many people wouldn't declare them which runs the risk of invalidating the policy. The warranty is an interesting one. A few years ago I asked SEAT whether fitting a dashcam would invalidate the warranty and the answer was it wouldn't unless it did. I was a little baffled at the response so left it. I think if you have an issue in that area you may need an independent inspection to prove the modification didn't cause the issue. Bear in mind there's often a lot of electrics under the seats for airbags and seatbelt tensioners. As low tech as it sounds, in the years before height adjustment was common, my mum had a thick cushion to sit on. Not what you want in a new car, but if you have one, it's a way of checking whether that difference is right for you before committing.

Kamiq and Scala recall
My dad had this done on his Kamiq a few weeks ago, it took about an hour.

Returning
Yesterday I placed an order for a Kamiq, having had a few Mk 1 Fabias between 2000 and 2006. Delivery is expected in early January. I used to be a member of the forum some years ago as "neilwilliams", but don't have access to the email address that account was linked to, so have returned as a new member. It's certainly changed a bit around here!
