Black smoke, poor acceleration in my SDI
Today i went to the "place where they try to fix cars" for a lifter replacement and injection pump adjustment. Oh my... The engine had a small high pitch noise with the rythm of the revs. Remember the super experienced mechanic did start the new engine fort the first time with lot of wires and hoses around the exposed pulleys and then catch those wires and the timing belt jump some theeth, fortunately no bent valves ut bad lifters, they did replace the damaged lifters, but that little high pitch ticking noice was there, rhey said there was still one lifter with some damage , but since it was only that noise and the engine was working fine, i did use the car some hundred miles (has to work), then i have the appoiment for today to solve that. We decide to use the lifters of my old smoky engine, which waa supposedly fine... and when whe started the engine, terrible sound, smoke and vibrations, the mechanic insisted to let the engine for a minute to se if the lifters accommodate, charge whatever... no luck... Now i have to buy new lifters. . My question is.. I have heard that for new lifters i new new camshaft, is that true? And also, is it necessary to let the lifter overnight soaked in oil? They say that some minutes and ten to install them and to let them to charge with the engine idling would be enough. What do you think?

Black smoke, poor acceleration in my SDI
Thank you very much, i do appreciate a lot.. i am kind of alone in here with this car.

Black smoke, poor acceleration in my SDI
It was the coolant sensor

Black smoke, poor acceleration in my SDI
There is no way to get that sensor new in my country, how can i test a used one? How much should it measure with a multimeter?

What is thi ssensor for, and normal resistance of others?
And what consequences has to run the car without the air intake temperature sensor?

What is thi ssensor for, and normal resistance of others?
Uhm.. alright

What is thi ssensor for, and normal resistance of others?
Today morning heading t the mechanic i toke a highway and there is no black smoke. I just replace the coolant sensor yesterday.

The mechanic, which "has experience dealing with diesels german cars" says that sensor is a MAF. And i say o,that is for gasoline cars. And for being a MAF it must have been installed where the air cross it directly tru it

Alright. You have no idea what i am dealing with these mechanics

What is thi ssensor for, and normal resistance of others?
Hello! in the search of what is wrong... the current coolant sensor has a resistance of 1708ohms while the old one from my old non black smooking engine is1833. my mechanic insist that the black smoke is a faulty coolant sensor. And also, what is the sensor in the air filter box for? That sensor has no continuity, means it is broken, no electricity or signal can cross, isnt supposed to have some resistance? (that one has LOT of time in that state) and also what is this vent or duct for? (it is sealed to avoid dirty air to enter) where is it to be supposed to be connected to?

Black smoke, poor acceleration in my SDI
Hi. Could a bad coolant sensor cause that?

Black smoke, poor acceleration in my SDI
Ok, thanks for the information. Someone told me that the coolant sensor could cause that. Is that true?

Black smoke, poor acceleration in my SDI
Checked. I even removed it for a try and still smoke Injection pump?

Black smoke, poor acceleration in my SDI
Hi guys. After i installed the new engine, at the begining, all fine (i guess), then after a hundred miles on highways i notice a high consumption, poor acceleration (i felt the car heavy) and i did notice a black smoke.

Camshaft removal
Please embrace and love your mechanics, even the worse you found near you is way better to what we can get here, don mention storues of terror, because i cant count mines due language barriers... you qould be amwñazed of how inpresive cars are because they can barely stand the labor from this country

Camshaft removal
No, the mechanic did start the engine without the pulleys cover and it catch some wires and the timing belt jumped several teeth and one or two lifters got damaged (is what says) I am having nightmares with this mechanic

Camshaft removal
I need to replace the valve lifters, the workshop probably have no new screws, is it mandatory to put the new screws of the camshaft?

Tightening torque for injectors and heaters
Is the asy engine a non interference engine?
-
Tightening torque for injectors and heaters
Ok, this is my luck with these local mechanics. While testing the timing belt catched a wire, and jumped one teth or two. How do i lnow if i got a damaged valve?

Tightening torque for injectors and heaters
Great, thank you. The engine is already installed and working, the mechanic say the pump is right but id like you to check these parameters.

Tightening torque for injectors and heaters
Good morning! I accidentally broke twice the plastic T used in the cooling system. Can i use the metal one instead? (I think it is brass. No problem with corrosion electrolysis, static or that sort of things?

Tightening torque for injectors and heaters
Ok, i got it. Check this please Is this tight enough?
