Fake Overheating? Skoda Octavia... Advice needed!
4x4 SE L Octavia Estate 2.0 150 82,000 miles When driving normally at 62MPH (on cruise) my temp guage flew of the chart! See photo... I employed the old idea of turning my heating up to Hi, this remedied the situation and the gauge returned to 90°. I then attempted to reset my climate to 21° on auto and moments later the temp guage flew back up to around 130°. This has happened twice in the last 10,000 miles. Both times I pulled over, checked the coolant level, turned the car off, waited a moment and the drove on without further issue meaning to Google the symptom. Neither times was the coolant reservoir hot to the touch or changing in anyway... I have seen remarks from "simple coolant flush needed" to "head gaskets gone mate, throw it in the bin". Any advice on a known issue with these Octavias and coolant temp readings?

Octavia 4x4 Estate Lowering & Towing
Yeah I think the VRS is lowered 10mm rear and 15mm front from factory over the standard SE L. This probably rules out lowering the SE L by 35mm and still towing...

Octavia 4x4 Estate Lowering & Towing
Thank for this! I'm thinking, could I lower the SE L on VRS springs? That may answer my question! 🤷 Lowering the SE L by 35mm looks like it might cause problems with a towball height. I will wait until I have it installed and the see where I'm sat

Octavia 4x4 Estate Lowering & Towing
Howdy all! I have a 2016 Octavia Estate 4x4 SE L. I would like to lower it on 18" alloys but also take advantage of the 2000kg towing capability (tow bar recently installed). Will lowering the vehicle change this? Is there a recommended brand? lowering height? Any issues with towing? Any advice appreciated.

I'm done with Skoda
I have been told by the used car dealer that I was given 1 months warranty or 1000 miles which ever was sooner. I did not expect such failure twice on VAG group vehicles, not on a '16' with a full Skoda history. I do not know if I am covered by any consumer act however I know there is a 30 day one which I used to send the first attempt at one of these vehicles back 🤦♂️

I'm done with Skoda
It's also called a propshaft flex coupling, I replaced it as the one on the car was looking worn out and as I intended to put many miles on the car for work I wanted it to be done precautionary... At the same time I decided as this vehicle was due to do a lot of towing to replace both rear wheel bearings and all the brake components at the rear... The fronts had on recently been done as per the service history with the vehicle. The diagnosis was made by Doncaster Skoda and they have said they can't believe I have suffered 4x4 drive line failure on two Octavias in 3 months both between 80-85k on the clock...

I'm done with Skoda
The dealer I purchased the car from was Saveonusedcars.co.uk in Scunthorpe. The car was advertised online and they required payment prior to collection with no test drive but quoted a 30 day return with full refund if I wasn't happy. I've called and asked previously about their warranty which they say is 1 month or 1000 miles which ever is sooner.... I have put 4000 miles on the car since as it's my work vehicle and prior to collecting the car I ensured it had an up-to-date Haldex service to make sure this didn't happen again?!!

I'm done with Skoda
Oh also all this comes after getting the '16' prepared for future work and spending £1600 on new rear brakes, discs and pads, replacing both rear wheel bearings, 18" Gemini Alloys, tyres and replacing the driveshaft balancing unit.... 🤦♂️

I'm done with Skoda
In Jan '21' I purchased a '63' Skoda Octavia 1.6 SE 4x4 with 83,000 on the clock and after 3 weeks I needed to return the car due to a diagnosis from Doncaster Skoda "failure of the 4x4 transfer box" (EST bill approx £3800)... After a battle with the dealer and the finance company I was able to return for a full refund.... Thinking I was just the unlucky at the end of Jan I purchase another, more expensive, but newer '16' Skoda Octavia 2.0 SE L 4x4 with 76,000, 1 owner from new (NHS) and full Skoda history with recent Haldex service. Now at 81,500 miles the same Skoda dealer has told me that this car requires a new rear differential... At a cost of approx £4580!! It's now Mar '21'.... I've been through 2 x Octavia's in 3 months and both have suffered drive line issues with the 4x4 systems... I am out of my warranty period with the dealer I purchased the '16' car from and now I'm stuck... What a crock of crap this Skoda experience has turned out to be, I should of stuck with my original '12' Mondeo with 207,000 on the clock that never let me down... If your reading this and your thinking of buying a Skoda 4x4 Octavia or other model be wise and THINK AGAIN!

is octavia 2.0 tdi engine code CRMB 320nm or 340
I have a 2.0 CRMB (EA288) from 06.2016 and it has 340 nm, as above it was introduced at the end of 2015 due to the emission scandal of the previous CRMC engine (EA189 engine)

DTUK CRD3+ reviews/info?
Hi, Great video! Thanks for the link, I'd heard of Darkside before and I'm now a subscriber. Got me thinking about whether or not I should just go for a tune... I have chance at a DTUK box for around £120 but if it doesn't provide the expected results then it's a waste of money and time... Which I hate 😂 Will speak to my local tuning place again and see what options they can offer me. I just like the idea of moving the unit from vehicle to vehicle plus I can return my vehicle to factory spec easily when I sell it on.

DTUK CRD3+ reviews/info?
Hi all! I have read some of the previous posts about this subject and can see mixed reviews across the years. Looking to get a DTUK CRD3+ tuning box to plug into my '16' Octavia 150PS. Are people running them? Do they work as advertised? What problems have people had? I'm looking at a second hand unit, the positives for me are threefold... 1. I can move the unit on to my next car or partners car (with same engine code etc). 2. They can be removed just as easily and thus returns the car to its normal state. 3. Cost, second hand they are a cheap alternative to a Dyno session and tune which is permanent in most cases unless you request a flash back to stock... Thoughts from everyone? Thank you in advance

*HELP* Octavia 4x4 Rear Wheel Bearing Info Needed!
Hi Thanks for the info. That link is the thing I have been searching for and I appreciate the message. I am very experienced when I comes to working on vehicles, not just my own, however I have little to no experience working on "newer" vehicles (eg 2015 onwards) and in the same breath new VAG group vehicles. This 2016 Skoda is the newest vehicle I have ever owner myself (excluding company cars) and I really would like to maintain it myself, at home in my workshop. Tools are no issue (besides VAG specific ones I simply don't know are needed yet). I'm just not sure where to find the details about parts I need without calling a main dealer every 2 seconds. I will take a look at the Febi stuff as I have been told they are quality parts and go from there. I have saved that link for the future!

*HELP* Octavia 4x4 Rear Wheel Bearing Info Needed!
Hi all....again I have a 2016 Octavia 4x4 150PS and I want to change both rear wheel bearings. I can't seem to find any info online, when I changed my rear brakes I ended up needing the more expensive larger 272mm rear discs (I assumed this was due to the 4x4). Now when I look for a rear wheel bearing Euro Car Parts offers me one to fit front or rear (276mm - 288mm discs) which both look to be front disc options and then another which fits front only (312mm - 340mm) which I assume is the VRS model versions..... I can't seem to find any wheel bearing kit that will work with my 272mm discs at the rear? Can anyone here help me source the correct wheel bearings?

Octavia 4x4 Camber???
Yeah so the Kwik Fit I took the car to said they had the correct specifications for the vehicle and that they could do a 4 wheel hunter alignment and charged me £49.95 as I only needed a front toe adjustment. I took your advice and contact my local dealer, Hayselden in Doncaster. They advised they had the correct system to do a 4x4 alignment and that it would be £85 for as many adjustments as it would take to get it done correctly. I waited an hour or so for them to complete it, they offered me a private space to continue WFH and once it was done the car drives like new! I compared the alignment sheet with the one Kwik Fit gave me and Skoda have made all the necessary changes correctly! I think in the future I will stick with main dealer first time...

Octavia 4x4 Camber???
Good Morning! So I have taken the car for 4 wheel hunter alignment... the chap at the "garage" adjusted my front toe, told me the rear was fine and sent me on my way. I got one the motorway and the car is noticeably pulling to the left when the wheel is straight. A week later I was passing and returned for a double check. The toe was checked again and it was fine. I then noticed on the screen that my front left camber was red, something like + or - 1.2 and the front right was green, + or - 0.5.... I questioned this and was told camber has nothing to do with the vehicle pulling to either side and that its all to do with toe and that I should ignore camber. This didn't sound right to me, I didn't have all day so I left. Since doing my own research it appears camber does (as I thought) play an important role in which direction the vehicle pulls and although incorrect camber may not scrub my tires like tow would I still want the car to drive straight. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone know the factory specs for Octavia 3 4x4 camber? Anyone in Lincolnshire recommend anyone who know what they are doing???

Advice Plez (Remap Octavia 3 4x4 150ps)
Thanks for the reply. What year is your Superb? So it had 190 from factory? That's a lot of Nm! I plan on towing the track car (trailer + car around 1800KG) so ideally fancied a bit more torque and with that hopefully some more fuel efficiency as I will be travelling long distance. An 8-10% increase in MPG would be great as i'm already getting 53.9mpg avg (not towing) now. Have you noticed any increase in MPG with your map or was it specifically for more power?

Advice Plez (Remap Octavia 3 4x4 150ps)
Hi all! I have a 150ps '16' Skoda Octavia 4x4 Estate with 74k on clock and a FSH and was looking at getting a remap... The garage states they can achieve 190bhp / 420Nm and an 8% increase in MPG... I notice you can get a 180ps version of this car / engine / drive line from factory. Are there any risks I need to be aware off before going for the remap? Can the Haldex / 4x4 system handle those numbers? Should I only remap inline with factory numbers? I still want reliability to be key and will not remap if it's obvious it will break something (of course I know all remaps are risky). I just want to be sure there were no differences from factory that enables the higher numbers other than a remap 🤷 Thanks in advance 👌

*HELP* Octavia 4x4 Whirring / Rotational / Odd Noise!
Outcome - Waiting for the dealership (Express Motors Ltd, Peterborough) to collect the broken Octavia from Skoda Doncaster. Finance company is rewinding the deal and in talks with the "dealer". They have stopped communicating with me completely. In the meantime I have taken delivery of my new Skoda Octavia 4x4... Ex VW lease car, FSH, '16' and more to the point... It works as it should. Looking forward to putting it to work later in the year and taking the dogs out in it. Already very impressed with the car, done 450 miles since Thursday and AVG 52.9mpg... amazing for a 4x4 Estate and beats my old Mondeo Estate 40.2mpg by a long shot 👍

*HELP* Octavia 4x4 Whirring / Rotational / Odd Noise!
If the transfer box is separate form the gearbox (separate oils) I would hope that the gearbox has not been effected but it is still not good! I have requested that the car be returned immediately or the repairs authorized at the dealer. The next few days the time will tell!

*HELP* Octavia 4x4 Whirring / Rotational / Odd Noise!
I have received a call on Friday to advise the transfer box is the issue and this email to advise the cost of repair. "Hi Luke, Here is the quote for work for your vehicle. Rotational noise coming from area front transfer box. Confirmed bearing failure in transfer box. Parts total £1989.39 Labour hours 4.50 = £382.50 Total 2371.88 Total inc Vat= 2846.25 Kind Regards Jane Worrall-Stenson Customer Service Advisor for Skoda" I have started the process of returning the vehicle due to the level of damage and the cost of repair.

*HELP* Octavia 4x4 Whirring / Rotational / Odd Noise!
Hi J.R. Thanks for your reply! That clears up that question and I now know the Front Angle Transfer Gearbox is nothing to do with the Haldex system. I took another video of the Guibo coupling from the other side (looking down the car to the rear) I believe it shows a distortion in the shape? (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O_2mxY-iM0vXtXHi9BShkEbGRn6QbsrE/view?usp=sharing) Could this be causing my noise? I am starting to feel a little vibration in the seat when I let off the throttle and the noise gets louder... I keep driving the car in the hope the offending item reveals itself soon. I can confirm there was no oil leak from the Front Angle Transfer Gearbox that I could see but there was a damp oil patch on the underside of the gearbox, I initially though this could just be left over from the last service as the oil was very black, does the Gearbox and Front Angle Transfer Gearbox share the same oil? Is the Guibo and easily serviceable item over a pit? Thank you also for the information, its all very helpful.

*HELP* Octavia 4x4 Whirring / Rotational / Odd Noise!
Something definitely isn't right with the prop shaft. I have been under the car this afternoon, it turns out it isn't coming from the rear. The noise it coming from the front, I guess its the Haldex part that is attached to the gearbox? The prop shaft goes into it and when the shaft is spinning it looks like it is wobbling off center. Using the stethoscope I listened into the casing that surround the entry of the prop shaft at the front (the Haldex part if that's what it is?) and I could hear what sounded to me as a mullered bearing, if there is a bearing in there? My train of though leads me to think that as I have no service history to show the Haldex system has ever had an oil change, could it be that the mesh at the end of the pump is blocked and the front section of the Haldex has been starved of oil? Are there bearings inside for the prop shaft and are they oiled via the Haldex oil? I do not know the answers to these questions, it is just my hypothesis.... Please see link to video here (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OJMOq2QcVUzeEq3YKifyj4VWRtQ4yz33/view?usp=sharing) this is the front of the prop shaft, once the undertray had been removed. You can also hear the "noise". Thanks in advance again!!!
