  1. 1589... although a little hard to work out a strategy
  2. I work for the NHS too... "admin" side, on NPfIT now (even more amusing than A4C!) Not been matched, and not in a rush to get it done either...
  3. :eek:Hmmmm, anyone for a misquote?
  4. Been reading the Da Vinci Code lately by any chance?
  5. Did slag off one of the bands quite nicely, which makes a change
  6. Depends how much of an audiophile you are, and how well you're going to notice progressively more expensive upgrades to amp and speakers... But a half-decent amp and cheapish speakers are going to be a hell of a lot better than TV speakers (for example)...
  7. Welcome... why the "different" user name?
  8. Yes, JC is co-presenting top of the pops right now... Doing ok so far, but looking a bit like a fish out of water. Already got in a plug for top gear
  9. Isn't having a dislike for "popular" music a sign of old age? I know I'm guilty of both... (disliking it, and being 'old') I think as you get older, your tastes develop - and you're more likely to have the means to experience different types of music (going to festivals, buying more music, etc)
  10. As said above, you shouldn't need any extra wiring, although you will probably need an aerial amplifier if you're bothered about listening to anything on the radio after you change the HU! Something like this should do it, but I can't say for sure aside from saying that I needed one in my 51 Fabia Comfort You can get a faceplate for the HU from different companies. Check with your dealer first though, as I seem to remember someone saying they were a fiver or something? On the speakers front, you should be able to get by with the current fabia speakers. I've had a Kenwood CD player, and now a 4x52w Sony MP3/CD HU and they've both sounded fine...
  11. The Driving section of the Sunday Times today has a nice page full of ads for "luxury performance and supercars". Here's a little selection for anyone with a healthy bank balance, looking for something a bit special.... Ferrari F1 2002 - "Race winner. Ex Schumacher fully rebuilt by Ferrari F1 Cliente and ready for use.". No price on website, but in the ST it's listed as €1.65m + VAT. Nice trackday car? CarsInternational.com also have an Enzo for £695,000 (in paper, not on site) Or lastly, howabout a Ford GT - a steal at £175,000...

    Help!!

    Measure twice, cut once...
  13. Is there a warning light for the engine to ask "what the hell have you done to me"?
  14. Surely it's not something you need every day, unless you're using it to set up new PCs with? (98??) BT is probably best bet - something like this but with some seeders...

    Amsterdam

Went in February (brrrrrr! Snow and driving winds) - thought it was a great place, although the RLD was nothing but funny
  16. *yaaaaaaaaaaaaawwn* Looks like they'll call it the octavia sport, rather than the vrs...
  17. I voted yes, as the majestic frog has rejuvenated the music scene
  18. Give you a tenner for your old PD100? Apart from the keys & loom, etc, is there likely to be any more stumbling blocks?
  19. Got a dirty screen? Try this new method - will actually clean your screen from the inside. Honest
  20. Stick it on as it is, and colour-code the rest of the car for a red/white combo. White rally-slag wheels would match quite well for a start...
  21. Mike - I found that reinstalling the desktop software without cleaning out the old settings didn't give me a choice of installation directory. I'm sure I read somewhere on Pocket GPS World that you get the conduit error when there's a space in the folder names, as the tomtom software can't handle it (useful, eh?). I didn't know about the reg cleaner, so just installed version 4.1 onto the laptop and it worked fine. With hindsight, I should have picked the advance install option to place the files onto my hard drive, and copied the lot across with my card reader (copying a massive map file via hotsync is asking for failure!). Try searching pocket gps world - they're good at posting workarounds, as the conduit error is quite widespread...
  22. You need to install the latest version of the palm desktop, Mike. Palm provides - somewhere hidden on their website - a tool to 'clean' your PC of the old palm desktop settings... Otherwise, if you remove the old version and just install the new one, it uses your old settings. The key seems to be to remove old palm software, use the tool to remove all settings, then install the latest one - to a directory name with no spaces (c:\palm) and then try it. Had the same problem myself until I got a clean install of the palm desktop... TT5 is pretty cool. My problem is I lent it to my brother and it came back with a broken wire on the connecting plug on the GPS unit... going to have to find a soldering iron :( Anyway. Consider this another vote for tomtom...
