  1. I’ve had a 1.5 SE L First Edition for almost 3 years. Connectivity issues dogged it until just 5 days ago when SW 1941 was installed. I bought it at the start of the Covid Lockdown - customer service was very poor. It was continuously due a ‘fix ‘soon’. My First Edition model included nice additional features. I had no worries about reliability or after-care service as I had been a VW owner for decades. These were always, including my current (VAG Group) Octavia, mechanically reliable. However First Editions are I believe something of a testbed and for too many of us for too long our Infotainment/OTA system has not been reliable. The 3 year warranty expires soon - I’m not ready to go electric -yet - car is low mileage….I’ll keep it but it will be £35/month x 24 (£840 ) to extend the warranty for two years inc 2x MOT and 2 x Services. As I am keeping the (mechanically sound) car I have little option but to buy an £840 extended warranty.
  2. I have also had OTAs since 1941 and no issues……..so far ☝️
  3. Thanks for the tip TheWanderer. Will do. Am I correct in assuming that once the file is on the USB stick I just leave it in the USB C slot and await a long journey so the technology can do its thing ?
  4. Just investigated further OTA is only if you have an annually renewable subscription (£44) for Infotainment online. So thanks for the tip and I will get on with USB C Pen-drive update. Thanks
  5. I have a USB A to USB C adapter. USB stick I can get no problem. However Skoda Portal says all Octavia 4 with Columbus in UK are OTA only. for Navigation Updates. Currently 22.4.
  6. Hi djmartzian The USB slots on my Mk4 are USB C (smaller) Is there a USB A/B slot somewhere or do I need an adapter?
  7. Hi TheWanderer Mk4 Octavia Columbus does not have an SD slot in the glove compartment. I believe that all updates are OTA or through dealer. Is it possible to manually update navigation on Octavia Mk4 another way? Thanks
  8. Since SW 1941 was installed last week functionality is vastly improved - no restarts so far. The one issue that appears to remain unresolved is the ‘Units’ in Navigation. My maps are still on Km. I have noticed several posting on Briskoda about this but with no solution. I have imperial units selected in ‘Settings’ but the SatNav remains in Km. SW 1941 has not eliminated this. Is there a fix for this fault? Thanks
  9. Yesterday I called Skoda Service who notified Skoda Technical of my ongoing restart issue. I also spoke to my Service partner about the restart issue before the car went in for its first MOT this morning. I don’t know if what followed was as a result of these conversations: I received a phone call after the MOT was complete to say they had found two SW updated which they had now applied. They told me that the ‘Big’ pending SW update scheduled by chassis number, for all cars involved would still go ahead….OTA. To my surprise when the car was returned I discover that the Infotainment has been updated from 1896 to 1941 and so far all seems well. So it remains to be seen what the ‘Big’ pending OTA update is intended to do.
  10. But interestingly JamesK It seems dealers can apply 1941 At their discretion and that it is not unavailable until scheduled according to chassis number. They made no mention of this but I shall chase this up. Thank you
  11. Thank you JamesK that is really useful info and i shall act upon it👍
  12. Hi JamesK You are right. When I phoned, the service department told me that the ‘Big’ OTA is being rolled out by chassis number. They have no control over the timing but say if they find the reference for my car on their database and find it has not installed - then they’ll do it. I told them that 1941 was reportedly 9Gb However they say the OTAs are proceeding ‘Fine’. 16Gb you report is huge! They assure me that they will install it after warranty if I have not received it OTA (🤞). They also want to sell me a 2 year extended warranty for £840 over 24 months. At my MOT tomorrow they say they will “Check the optics” to verify that my infotainment is in the right state to receive OTA updates. Q. What does ‘TPI’ stand for and how can I obtain a copy of the one referring to SW 1941? Thanks
  13. Phoned up and asked. They said that the updates are applied by chassis number so only Skoda know when it is due. They said if later in the year the OTA hasn’t happened they’ll check to see if it is overdue and if so will apply it in the workshop. They assure me that the OTA updates are proceeding well.
  14. Cheers SteveTheElder I tried to book mine in a month ago and the Service Manager said a big update is due OTA before October. So definitely not wanting to book in. Any idea if I can insist or if its at the manager’s discretion?
  15. Will do Wanderer Any idea if I can insist it’s done at the dealership rather than OTA.
  16. So can this be accomplished OTA or should/can I press for my service partner to do this prior to warranty expiration?
  17. I am on two year servicing not due until next year. Would you advise bringing it forward to this year so I get the ‘big’ update prior to warranty expiring?
  18. Thanks Wanderer Will that happen OTA or must this be done by the Service partner. Thanks
  19. A big OTA (SW 1441?) update reported by Skoda Service and by my Service Partner is currently rolling out and due for completion by the end of this year. Since my warranty expires soon, In your opinion is it likely that my Service Partner would, on my request, perform the big (SW 1441?) update in their service department?
  20. Thanks I phoned Skoda Support. They confirmed that a major OTA update is currently being rolled out. They said that it may take until the end of this year before all vehicles receive the update. So I shall await an OTA fix but as my warranty expires in a month I have requested that the update is undertaken in the garage service department.
  21. Hi - I am on SW 1896 and had the OCU replaced a year ago. Like many I am experiencing restarts especially within the first miles of a journey. I phoned the dealer for a warranty checkover of the infotainment. The service manager rang back to say that a big OTA update is out currently. Skoda, he says, are rolling it out over time and some may not get it until October. He said to check to see if I am receiving OTA updates by checking in settings in Infotainment. He said to get back to him if it remains troublesome. I checked and I have no record of any OTA updates having been received. I have not had a live notification of an update for as long as I can remember. I am booked in for my first MOT on Thursday and my 3yr warranty expires a few weeks later. So I have 2 questions for any kind person out there in the know: 1. How can I check to see any OTA updates previously installed? 2. I have a Green SOS indicator - does this mean that I receive OTA updates? Thanks
  22. Yes I get exactly the same
