  1. I was the same, I think they are set too low from the factory. I adjusted mine up a bit and it's made a big difference.
  2. I found this article useful, long and short of it is that the VW spec's for oil are really only for cars in warranty, after that you just need to select a quality oil of the right weight. It goes further to discuss what to look for in an oil if your are running stage 1 or more, then the important thing is to look for the HTHS or High Temp/High Shear of an oil: https://hp.net.au/home/engine-oil-modified-vwaudiskoda/
  3. I just used some Meguiars Ultimate Compound by hand, didnt need the machine. Then just add a decent wax or sealant - nothing fancy or complicated needed. Came up shiny and have stayed that way even in QLD sunshine.
  4. Im pretty sure the EA888 gen 3 has a timing chain not a belt, so agree that it would more likely be fuel or ignition.
  5. are they really warped or are you feeling an uneven disc surface due to pad deposits? The results are the same, ie horrible judder under braking but the following article shows that you might be able to fix it with a cheap set of pads. That has to be better than a new pair of discs? Modern discs, especially from a decent manufacturer are unlikely to warp under normal or even hard driving conditions. Track days would be different but then you would be using different setups etc. https://alconkits.com/technical-info/brake-tech/56-the-myth-of-warped-brake-discs
  6. Legends! You guys were on the money, @lway really appreciate the step by step. Changed the setting from Sound_System_internal_individual to Sound_System_internal and we are back in business. thanks to all that chipped in with advice.
  7. Thanks, ill try and upload the rest of the scan later. Where would be a good place to learn more about the coding - ie changing byte 11 from 04 to 01 - thanks
  8. ok, ODB11 has turned up and here is the scan for 5f, hope someone can help me rectify whatever I did: 5F Multimedia System description: MU-H-N-RW Software number: 5E0035045C Software version: 0371 Hardware number: 5E0035045C Hardware version: H43 Serial number: A314I0EB001216 ODX name: EV_MUHig6C3HBAS ODX version: 001041 Long coding: 03735108FF00000011510004001100002F0001C601000100F6 Subsystems: System description: ABT_High Software version: 0030 Hardware version: H60 Serial number: SKZ8Z9PT6005BB System description: ROW 2014/2015 Software version: 0033 Hardware version: --- Serial number: -------------------- Trouble codes: U101400 - Control module incorrectly coded static Date: 2021-09-01 17:15:10 Mileage: 115732 km Priority: 4 Malfunction frequency counter: 1 Unlearning counter: 65 Dynamic environmental data: 02867E1017555515555555A9 B200046 - Ctrl. module faulty Intermittent Date: 2018-01-30 13:46:01 Mileage: 68551 km Priority: 3 Malfunction frequency counter: 11 Unlearning counter: 119 Dynamic environmental data: 02867C
  9. My OBD11 should arrive next week - @varaderoguy no doubt I will be asking you a couple of questions - appreciate the suggestion.
  10. thanks for the help so far guys. Car Scanner does have a coding history function and revert to default but that didnt work. I have used this as a good excuse to get obd11, will post up any fault codes and long coding for 5f so hopefully can undo my messing around.
  11. I used an android app called Car Scanner . It has a coding section and under multimedia was an option to enable Skoda surround sound. I clicked enable, heard a click from all of the speakers individually but it said that the coding failed. The unit then looked like it rebooted and now I have no volume options, almost like it is stuck in mute. I have tried factory reset, and long hold on power button to restart the unit. Turning the vol knob does nothing, ie the volume bar appears but does not go up and down.
  12. thanks for the quick reply. Sorry, I should have put more details in the first post. I think I have MIB1 Columbus so no external amp? hope the pics confirm this?
  13. So I was waiting for my daughter and started messing around with car scanner and tried to enable surround sound as I have read it improves things alot. Anyway, it didnt work saying that my blutooth dongle was not up to the job. I also enabled multimedia dev mode and then looked through that menu on the screen but changed nothing. Turned everything off, picked up my daughter and now there is no volume at all. Turning the vol knob brings up the volume bar but does nothing. There is no 'sound' option in the settings now, it is greyed out. I have tried doing a factory reset but it changes nothing. Everything still seems to work, nav etc but there is no sound. What have I done? any ideas? thanks guys 😞
  14. Hi guys, My parcel shelf somehow got stuck the other day and as a result the little protrusion that the string loops onto pinged off and disappeared. Im hoping I can just push a new one in but I have no idea what the part is called so cant order one. Does anyone know what this is called or have a part number for me? Thanks for any help
  15. I think is it at least 3 years so you should be covered.
  16. I would put my money on the water pump or housing. Just had mine done, same symptoms - pink water on garage floor, undertray was wet, and coolant needed to be topped up every 1500km's. Very common on the EA888 gen3's which I think is what is in the 245. Not cheap due to the amount of labour involved but can be done DIY with basic tools - plenty of good youtube videos but I didnt fancy it myself.
  17. Mine is coded off - was like that when i got the car so dont know what was involved.
  18. I got my local exhaust place to remove the two mufflers completely and replace with straight through pipes. I honestly thought that it would be too loud so had flanges welded with enough room to fit smaller mufflers if I didnt like the volume. Surprisingly on part throttle it is not much louder than standard, the giant resonator on the VRS does a really good job. When I put my foot down I get a much better exhaust sound with nice DSG farts - noise now matches my stage 1 setup.
  19. I just wanted to add to an existing exhaust thread and this one seems as good as any. I have been reading on here and other forums about exhausts for the VRS - mines a 2015, and I wanted more noise but wasnt bothered about any extra power as im already on stage 1. I took it to a local exhaust place that ive used before, discussed the various options and we decided to just chop of both rear mufflers and replace with straight through pipe. I had flanges put on so I could easily change back or modify if needed as I was worried it would be too loud - im an old boy racer now at 43! I did not touch the original centre resonator and i must admit the car sounds awesome. No drone at motorway speeds and very little noise if just pootling around. But, gun it or use manual mode and it sounds great, nice DSG pop and all. I have not read of anyone else just removing the rear mufflers on their vRS but it was a cheap option and gives me the perfect increase in sound. Hopefully this helps anyone else out there that wants more noise without drone or ridiculous prices of cat back exhausts. Mine cost less than $300 AUD.
