  1. It's on the turn signal stock, you have to push it forward once to enable it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIKZ6aKgIlQ
  2. You can't do that. If you disable the soundaktor it will be disabled on all modes. You can only lower the volume and whatever volume you set is halved in normal mode. 20% works good, almost impossible to notice the fakeness, just sounds like the engine.
  3. But can you turn on automatic high beam or not? If you can then what is the dynamic light assist for?
  4. Do you turn it on and it doesn't work or does it not turn on? Why aren't you just going to the dealer with this issue?
  5. We don't. Even the hardware is probably new on the latest builds. I'm on 1889 software, that's not available for older units.
  6. It takes a while, taking off the door cards, then the speakers in VAG cars are riveted in so you need to drill them out and figure out how you're going to reattach them afterwards. Then putting all the stuff into the door. It's a day of work if you're doing it for the first time. I'm sure those who are used to it are much faster, but they will take you a day's work of money for it anyway. 😀
  7. Yeah, but it's a UK forum you're in Finland, I'm in Lithuania, the prices will probably vary quite a bit 🤣 The material for sound proofing isn't that expensive so if you DIY it's cheaper. https://www.hifitalo.fi/collections/silent-coat
  8. I'm sure you can ask around your local places, there are always people who do audio.
  9. That's pretty much everywhere these days. No one wants to pay enough money to actually get people who are interested/skilled in their job, so those people start their own thing and the official places are garbage. Look at electronics repair for example, all they know is how to replace things, a lot of those "techs" wouldn't even know how to use a multimeter to start diagnosing something.
  10. I know that modern petrols burn some oil, strange that a diesel does it too, that's something I would not expect.
  11. It should be available in the store, if you do not have store available try registering and looking at https://www.skoda-connect.com/
  12. It's probably a different bug. On mine the sound does not disappear, it just gets reduced and it shows an icon of a person speaking when adjusting the volume instead of a speaker. I think it's some kind of sound reduction, like when parking or something. But it happens randomly when starting the car sometimes, even before I start driving.
  13. Huh, on mine switching apps and waiting a bit restores the volume without a restart.
  14. I see, I don't have sign recognition or satnav. But everything else works on mine, it's a newer build though. Hopefully the update finally comes!
  15. On mine all the Skoda stuff works perfectly fine, climate, radio, phone. It boots up almost instantly too. Android Auto has a bug and it sometimes decides to start at reduced volume like as if I'm backing up. Also it's generally a bit laggy if you want to do something quickly.
  16. That's kind of weird. My dealer said new covers should start coming in around June and I would get one. But in reality how often do you even look at it?
  17. After a few months of ownership I can say that everything works as advertised. Android Auto has some bugs, but they're not critical and that can be Google's, phone manufacturer's or Skoda's fault, who knows. So no, I don't feel mis-sold.
  18. Yes, it's stock.
  19. Didn't have a chance to properly drive anywhere yet, but I will report if anything pops up. I don't expect to see any difference with this particular size, considering the wheels sit in pretty much the same spot, but are just 0.5inch wider.
  20. Reviving this thread to say that I put on my summer wheels and they did indeed fit. 😀 OEM R18 wheels with Gislaved Eurofrost 6 225/45R18 pics: And the new wheels are JR SL01 19X8.0 ET40 with 225/40R19 Goodyear Asymmetric 5 tyres
  21. Probably the 190 300 and 310 horsepower engines too. The cover is the same, 300/310 I think has a different turbo, but the location is the same too.
  22. There is a battery on a car, you don't need a big power supply, just a filter to filter out the alternator introduced distortion (which is trivial, even for high power). But yes, Canton in the Octavia has absolutely nothing to do with Canton. It's using standard components made by Sonavox and the main issue with the whole system also has nothing to do with the amp in the first place. The enclosures are simply very budget. The sub is a plastic can, door speakers are just sitting there without proper sound insulation. If you just insulate the car properly and put the sub in a proper box the system would sound way better without changing any component. The reason standard system in 5 series sounds better is because the car is properly insulated, BMW also puts their low frequency drivers close to the front seats instead of in the trunk.
  23. I'd say it depends. If you only want to change the sub for example then you can use the high level outputs of the sub that already exist in your trunk and you only need to bring power from the battery. Not to mention you retain control of all the levels on the infotainment. But if you're doing a full swap it doesn't make much difference since you will be tearing everything apart anyway and it costs extra to get Canton.
  24. But it's not low, it's in the middle between min-full. Which is where it should be. Also it depends on how hot the engine was when you checked, if this is cold level then it seems fine to me.
  25. I think the cover also helps efficiency during winter, let's the engine get up to temp quicker. They have to remove it if it can catch on fire..?
