  1. Driving my new car (1.5 TSI non-electric manual) home after picking it up from the dealer I thought there must be something seriously wrong with the engine as it felt like forever to increase the speed from 100 to 110 km/h while in 6th gear compared to my old car. My old car had the 1.4 TSI (103 KW) engine with the MQ250-6F gearbox and I rarely needed to downshift from 6th gear before overtaking a car. Reading this thread has eased my worries a lot. Sounds like what I experience is "normal" and that I have to get used to using the gear stick alot more. Reading in the owner's manual that the maximum speed (231 km/h) was achieved in 5th gear (not 6th! ) and comparing the gearbox ratios between my old car and new car did relax me a bit more: MQ250-6F Skoda 1.5 TSI (what's the name of the gearbox?) I 3.778 3.750 II 2.118 2.100 III 1.360 1.276 IV 1.029 0.878 V 0.857 0.674 VI 0.733 0.510 6th gear in the old car has a higher numeric ratio than 5th gear in the new car!? Anyone else with the manual gearbox and the 1.5 or the 1.0 that has experienced the need to downshift to 4th gear to facilitate faster (and safer) overtaking at high speed?
  2. XI is "laminated-glass panes". Source https://carglass.ee/en/carglass/automotive-glass-marking-2/ A could be acoustic glass. Source https://autoglassmasters.in/everything-you-should-know-about-acoustic-windshield/ I ordered mine with acoustic glass so that might be the meaning of the A. Would be great to get this confirmed. Did anyone order acoustic glass but does not have the A on the driver side window? Does anyone have the A on the driver side window but did not order acoustic glass?
  3. System info car manufactured week 27 2021:
  4. Yes. In what thread do you want me to post that info?
  5. Thanx! Any ideas on the code A on the right hand side of the XI?
  6. According to dealer the car arrived on Pirellis. As agreed dealer switched tyres to Michelin Primacy 4 225/45/R18, so I never tested the Pirellis. Drove a loaner, an Octavia estate, while waiting for my car. That car had been running on 225/45/R18 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5s for 20 000 km. Really liked the Goodyear tyres (comfortable and relatively quiet). It's unfair to compare them to the Michelins since the Michelins only got 150 km on them so far.
  7. Order placed week 3 Official build week 18 (second week of May) - status 6 Status changed to 7 according to dealer (late July I guess) Status 9 week 33 Week 34 picked up my new Octavia hatch 1.5 TSI (non-electric), manual, DCC, Bolero, Style package. So waited for 6 months. Since the EC Certificate of Conformity (CoC) says that the "Date of manufacture of the vehicle" was week 27, it might be the case that the car has been stuck on the infamous airport parkinglot for 9 weeks.
  8. Much appreciated if someone could explain the meaning of these three symbols/codes that are printed on the driver window of my Octavia hatch. Been searching the web but not found what I'm looking for.
  9. It's more than a gimmick to me. I always change the mode to "Individual" before I drive off (oh, how I wish the car would remember and keep the last selected mode so I would not have to do this every single time). My custom settings in "Individual": - steering to "Sport" - I much prefer the less progressive feel that is "Sport" compared to "Normal" - chassi (or does it say suspension or just comfort...hmm) to "Sport" - Maybe I'm just imagining things but I believe that the suspension gets stiffer in this setting and thus less body roll - ACC to "Sport" - I can get closer to the car in front before the speed is automatically reduced by the ACC (which is soooooooo annoying and makes the ride really jerky and I the rhythm is lost, I can't describe how much I miss the old non-adaptive Cruise Control)
  10. Congrats @kajima! Looking forward to seeing some pics in the picture thread
  11. Happy days @sicone ! And delivery alot speedier than for @Sliminator. Hope to see pictures in the picture thread soon! What engine @sicone? 2.0 TSI (non-electric), 2.0 TDI (non-electric) or the 1.4 TSI iV? @Sliminator: do you know what week the VIN of your car was registrered? (my latest status change was VIN and I'm trying to figure out whether they'd only register the VIN when the car is actually complete, i.e. not only partially complete due to missing components due to shortage of semi conductors)
  12. My car without stop start: battery lasted 10 years My car (VAG-car) with stop start: battery lasted 6 years When battery died in my car with stop start it left me stranded at a traffic light at a very busy multi-lane intersection (NOT a very pleasant experience). If I had turned off stop start when I started the car alternatively had been able to switch it off once and for all then I at least would have been able to reach my destination (which would have been the next place where I would have turned off the engine).
  13. Congrats Seems like there's hope for ordered cars with non-electric engines (eventhough it took more than 6 months from order to delivery).

  16. duckduckgo.com is your friend @Joss1733 https://www.transportenvironment.org/publications/mission-possible-how-carmakers-can-reach-their-2021-co2-targets-and-avoid-fines https://autovista24.autovistagroup.com/news/carmakers-face-eu20-billion-fines-exceeding-co2-targets-part-2/ https://www.eulerhermes.com/en_global/news-insights/economic-insights/New-CO2-emission-regulations-in-Europe-A-perfect-storm-for-car-manufacturers.html So the guess is that yes there are components (containing semi conductors) available to Skoda to build the Octavia but not enough of them to build all ordered Octavias. Ie Skoda needs to prioritize and thus selects cars with lower emission engines due to co2 targets. I've posted articles from www.newsy-today.com (thanks @zetzet) where the components in the Octavia that are missing (or are in short supply) are named. If the articles can be trusted, then it does seem like those are the types of components that ought to be common in all types of Octavias. But I'm only guessing....(it's Skodas lack of communication that leds to these unfortunate guessing games)
  17. Octavia TSI 150 hatchback, manual, STYLE package, DCC, auxiliary heating, tow bar Order placed week 3 Official build week 18 (second week of May) - status 6 Status recently (late July I guess) changed to 7 according to dealer 6 - with production order 7 - vin 8 - in transit from factory/in transit to Dealer 9 - at dealer Why is it taking so long, besides due to a shortage of semi conductors? My guess is the same as @e-Roottoot

  19. I'm driving a Superb (2020) at the moment and I can confirm that the "automatic braking pulls the pedal down very noticeably" when I use ACC
  20. I could not agree with you more @peshetoman. Skoda's (central) customer service is and has been really really poor during the pandemic and I think it's unacceptable that they treat people (in Bulgaria) that have paid a deposit, like yourself, the way they do. I hope things work out for you. (I'm also waiting for my car (1.5 TSI) to get the "missing" semi conductors (probably one of the last engines in line to get access to available semi conductors as @e-Roottoot pointed out) however I did not have to pay a deposit and the dealer has provided me with a loaner, free of charge, while I wait).
