Winter wheels
Based on personal experience I would avoid the combination of 16" + winter tyres + Octavia MK4. I drove a dealer's demo car (Octavia MK4, hatch, 1.0 TSI, sport suspension) which had 16" rims and Nokian R2 Hakkapeliitta tyres (these are high quality top 3 reviewed winter tyres) and the combination of the soft suspension (even with factory sport suspension) of the Octavia MK4 and the softness of 16" winter tyres made the car very unpredictable and thus felt dangerous to drive. I've also driven Octavia MK4s with 17" and 18" winter tyres and they felt MUCH more predictable and safe to drive. Personally, after reading several reviews of different winter tyres, I opted for the Goodyear Ultragrip Ice 2 SoundComfort Tech FP 225/50R17 98T. I've used them for one winter and I am very pleased with their performance.

Fuel gauge slow to move from full
I've got the same "feature". Really annoying. Fill the tank only half full and the fuel gauge shows "full bar". Only after awhile it adjusts itself. I hope there is some setting to get the fuel gauge to show a representation of the actual amount of fuel in the tank instead of a delayed estimate based on the way you've recently been driving. Sadly haven't found that setting yet. There's already a digital feature which shows a numeric estimate of the remaining driving distance so I don't understand the point of making the fuel gauge act on an estimate as well.

Octavia suspension issues
Nope, never. But if I had a faulty suspension or experience anything that could be described as "crashing", I would have my car towed to a garage and not be driving around. I've driven quite a few Skoda Octavia MK4s by now and by far the worst experience I've had, related to the suspension, was the combination of sport suspension (no DCC) and winter tires (Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2, no studs) on 16" rims. The car felt dangerous to drive due to numb unresponsive steering (even in Sport mode) and a floating uncontrollable bouncing feeling from the combination of the suspension and the tires. No experience of something being faulty or "crashing", just a very unsuitable combination for the Skoda Octavia MK4. Now I've got sport suspension, DCC, winter tires (Goodyear Ultragrip ICE 2, no studs) on 17" rims, and the ride is completely different compared to the above combination. The steering is responsive (when steering is set to Sport) and even when the DCC is set to max Comfort the ride does not take on the same uncontrollable feeling (and I never ride in max Comfort, Sport mode delivers the best overall experience imo).

Octavia suspension issues
I've got the same set up as you @Sebastijan00, ie sport suspension, 18" wheels, DCC, torsion beam. I've never experienced a "crashing suspension feeling", but on the other hand I don't know exactly what you mean by that. To figure out If it's just you or something wrong with your car, maybe a test drive of an Octavia with a set up similar to yours at a dealer would be the best option. If you want to try to figure out the problem (if there is one) on your own cbalard31 shared this link: https://cardiagn.com/2020-2022-skoda-octavia-mk4-workshop-manual-wiring-owners/ where you will find the work shop manuals. F.eks. removal of the transport locks (which you've already checked) is described on page 161 in the Maintenance manual.

Lowering springs
Reading the I found this on page 351 & 352: ... If "adjusting the axle geometry" is what's being done doing wheel alignment, then the ACC needs calibrating. And on page 361: ... So, I guess I need to have a conversation with the mechanic that did the job.

Radar / front assist cover broken
Brilliant post @cbalard31! 👍👍👍 Made my day Now I just need to figure out if it's possible to download the manuals for offline reading.

Lowering springs
Well that's not really the point now is it @Carlston. The point is to inform the viewer of the pictures about what they are looking at. And if the owner of the pictures (H&R) says the car in the pictures has tires with dimensions 225/40/18 then I am sure as hell not going to write something else. Show some appreciation for what I'm sharing instead of being such a downer....

Lowering springs
Pretty accurate depiction of what my car looks like now: https://www.tuningblog.eu/en/categories/cars-from-az/sport-springs-skoda-octavia-327799/ Good to know is that the car in the above pictures has original wheels 7,5 x 18 with 48 mm offset, tires 225/40/18, and wheel spacers (10 mm front, 12 mm rear)

Lowering springs
So I've now replaced the stock springs with H&R Lowering springs art.nbr. 28639-5 and to answer my own questions: I haven't noticed any negative effects whatsoever. I haven't noticed any negative effects whatsoever. The DCC works flawlessly at both extremes (max comfort vs max sport). No scraping nor tires touching the wheel house driving over large speed bumps. According to the garage, all that was needed was a wheel alignment. The ride is great and the car finally looks like it did in the car configurator (in regards to ride height).

Hello skoda octavi 4 Coding List and Adaption
Looks hopeful...they seem to have been able to enable it using VCDS: https://www.vcds-coding.nl/octavia-4/ "Activate cruise control already extra option (Auto must be equipped with ACC by default)" What app are you using?

Lowering springs
I came to the following conclusion before placing my order (please correct me if I'm wrong and contact H&R if you want to be 100% sure): For the H&R springs for the Skoda Octavia NX, - it depends on your cars technically permissible mass on its front axle and - whether your car has twist beam (also known as torsion beam) or multi link rear suspension The former can be found on the EC Certificate of Conformity if your car has been manufactured in the EU (there might be an equivalent CoC in Asia?). On mine it says 970 kg. I don't know how you would go about finding info about the latter in Singapore however I know that my car has the twist beam and I've got the 1.5 TSI non-electric. I think I've read somewhere that only the VRS has the multi link but don't quote me on that. Article number at h-r.com 28639-5 Up to and including 1000 kg permissible mass front axle, twist beam 28639-6 Greater than 1000 kg permissible mass front axle, twist beam 28639-9 Up to and including 1000 kg permissible mass front axle, multi link 28639-10 Greater than 1000 kg permissible mass front axle, multi link

Lowering springs
@Anth1s Did your garage recalibrate the radar and the DCC?

Lowering springs
Well sounds like the DCC has been some what compromised since your lowering. I guess setting the DCC to max comfort is out of the question now, or? The garage that's going to do the work on my car have a lot of experience modifying cars and are really good at the mechanical side of things however they don't have any experience recalibrating radar nor DCC. So, the garage you used were able to recalibrate the radar but not the DCC? Did they tell you why? (I also assume you've got a VRS since your nick is DutchVRS)

Lowering springs
Interesting. How did you find your non-recalibrated DCC working after lowering your car compared to before? (Can't find the Cobra springs for the sedan/hatchback so I assume you've got the estate)

Lowering springs
Hi So I'm going to replace the stock springs (sport suspension) on my Octavia Mk4 with H&R Lowering springs art.nbr. HR286395 (FrontAxle45/RearAxle35mm). Been reading the MK3 forum and after replacing the springs some say there's a need to - recalibrate the wheels - recalibrate the radar - recalibrate the DCC (if you have it like I do) Seems to be quite a few people on here who's put on lowering springs on their Octavia Mk4 and I would really appreciate if they could explain - what will be the effects of NOT recalibrating the radar (f.eks. are the matrix headlights going to point to low? Will the ACC be affected? Will there be an error code? etc)? - what will be the effects of NOT recalibrating the DCC (some MK3 owners did not calibrate the DCC after lowering and that seems to have worked fine, but will it for the MK4?) Thanks

Available coding/adaptation mods
@TheUltraRunner Setting it to zero takes the Adaptive out of ACC and turns it into a regular Cruise Control. What's "catastrophic" about that? "Catastrophic" is not paying attention while driving and relying on these automated functions to save you while you're watching a movie on the infotainment screen. I know. I've read somewhere that this already can be done.

Available coding/adaptation mods
Dear Santa 🎅 I've waited patiently for my new Octavia mk4 and I've been a good boy all year. I hope you will bring me these "coding/adaptation mods" for christmas (in the following order of priority): 1. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), default setting = distance 0. Since the shortest predefined distance that can be chosen for the ACC is not short enough maybe there is a possibility to code this distance to zero 2. Driving mode, default setting = Individual 3. Lane Assist, default setting = Off 4. STOP/START, default setting = Off Sincerely Si 👼 PS. Say Hi to 🤶 DS.

Change of colour = price rise
My dealer told me I could make alot of changes (one was changing the colour) to my order up to the point it gets "locked" by the factory (guess that equates to status "With production week"). They said nothing about "no longer be protected from any annual price increases". I think what they've told you @Kingelksounds really strange.

Climatronic A/C: blower/fan always running?
Weird. I can't turn the fan OFF. At the lowest setting on the scale you're referring to, the fan is still running. I believe there are about 6 different settings on that scale but the two rightmost does not increase the fan speed compared to the third rightmost. The only way I can completely turn off the fan is by pressing the "CLIMA OFF"-button (top right corner I think).

Climatronic A/C: blower/fan always running?
Thanks for the feedback! The sound from the blower/fan was a bit more tolerable today. Maybe changing the A/C setting in Individual mode to Eco improved things. It's kind of illogical though that the button for Automatic mode (in the climatronic settings) has a sub menu for operating power (select Low, Medium or High). I mean what's automatic about that? Should not the system determine the operating power once you've activated automatic mode?

octavia 2018 1.4 vs 2021 1.5
Thanks for the feedback @Skodamias! Good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this. I agree, it feels less powerful eventhough it's got more hp (150 vs 140) and more kW (110 vs 103). In the old car (1.4 TSI), changing from eco mode to sport mode had a noticeable effect. The car reacted quicker and accelerated faster in sport mode, it certainly became even more fun to drive. In the new car (1.5 TSI) switching to sport mode I can't say that the acceleration improves in 4th, 5th and 6th gear. I believe I can feel a difference but only in gear 1-3. 5th gear seems a bit pointless now in my opinion. I'll probably completely skip it and jump from 4th to 6th. It's near impossible to find a Skoda Octavia 1.5 TSI manual to test drive in Sweden. The closest I found was a 1.0 TSI DSG (and I visited alot of dealers)! It seems like every dealer goes for a demo car with an automatic gearbox and an engine with some kind of electric input. I wasn't too bothered though since I thought I knew what I was getting. I felt confident that the engine at least would be as powerful as the engine in my old car and that the gearbox would feel about the same. Oh boy was I wrong. I mean the car works fine but I'm very surprised given what I expected and I kind of feel a bit fooled. However the most important thing is that this is "normal", ie nothing's wrong with my car. The 1.4 TSI is a great engine (hmmm....I wonder if I should move to Australia). Too bad VAGs chase for lower emissions has made its younger sibling a bit bland. I have no idea.

Climatronic A/C: blower/fan always running?
Is the blower/fan always supposed to be running? Is it not supposed to automatically switch on/off? The blower/fan in my car is always running. Drove for over a hour the other day and I could hear the blower/fan the entire time. In the loaner (Skoda Octavia Columbus) that I had before, I did not notice the sound from the blower/fan (and yes, it was switched on ). My climatronic settings (Bolero): - Automatic mode ON and operating power LOW - A/C ON - Recirculated air mode OFF - Automatic air recirculation mode OFF There's supposed to be a "humidity sensor" somewhere. Could it be faulty? Any ideas on how to check it?
