  1. Warranty ran out in March. Had a similar battery issue then as well, so garage approaching Skoda to try and arrange a goodwill fix ?
  2. Hi, I have just been advised of faulty door lock causing parasitic drain £423 to fix!. Causing repeated low voltage errors , although these were not displayed. Battery went flat, thankfully road assist got me going again.

Further to the above, I have just been told by the garage that there is a fault with the door lock causing a parasitic drain to the battery, advised a new door locking mechanism required costing £423. Car just out of warranty and given recent battery drain issue they are trying a goodwill argument with Skoda to see if the price can be reduced . Watch this space!
  4. Yes, I had the screen update on software the day before as well, makes you wonder doesn’t it ? Still in the garage today let’s see what they identify.
  5. I had exactly the same issues (identical) that you described in my mk IV vrs Octavia phev. In March, interestingly when the flat battery was re booted with a power pack from road assist, all the infotainment faults disappeared. It seems the system reset itself. Anyway vehicle went to Skoda garage to try and identify what had caused the battery issue, kept overnight and identified that although the radio appeared to be switched off it was still drawing power. Garage stated a software issue and updated. No further issues until a week ago when after a 20 mile run and a stop of an hour and half I went back to my vehicle which failed to start, lots of error messages including parking brake warning etc. Road assist called, battery power pack applied and after 10 mins vehicle started. Red and amber battery warnings remained on for 5 mins during test drive then went out. On the way home for the first 5 miles I was getting an amber warning advising that the engine needed to run longer, this eventually went out. Car has had no issues since but booked into garage Monday 13th to try and identify the failure to start cause. Frustratingly the warranty ran out in March and I have a feeling that this is connected to the same battery issue. I bet the garage won’t see it this way!
  6. I get this but I also lose all audio ( radio, navigation, hands free phone, hello Laura) I think the primary fault for me is an audio issue. No audio, no bleeps on parking assistance, so not available. Camera is ok.
  7. I am getting parking assistance errors, used to be ad hoc and a screen re-set would sort it out. However, I have now had this issue permanently for the last 3 week, re-sets don’t work. The audio has been out for the same period, no radio. No Sat nav, no phone. In addition I am unable to effect the volume controls within the infotainment screen, getting a message that states “ you will be able to access volume controls shortly” as the parking assistance relies on audible beeps from the speakers my guess is the audio fault is causing the park assist error. Due MOT in a few weeks so I have raised the issue with my local Skoda dealer, hopefully it will be sorted whilst still within the 3 year warranty.

I had the recall notice over 9 months ago, sent the car in to the local Skoda dealer for repair, but they only updated software and said they would be in touch re the battery insulation mat fitting. No contact, but have just received another recall letter, worded exactly the same as the previous letter. My understanding is that they are setting up local hubs to do the work and needed to train up the staff, for instance Fareham Skoda will be using a fitting hub at Botley near Southampton. I don’t know if this is up and running yet? But will contact Fareham Skoda re recent letter to see if they are now ready to fit the Mat.
  9. Engine temperature sensor fault, resolved all fan issues once replaced.

Hi, I have a similar problem, recently the engine cooling fan has been running really fast when charging, but only after it has been used, it happens even when moving the vehicle just a few meters. I leave it to rest a for a while and seems to charge normally. I also noted that the engine cooling fan is running excessively when out on trips, doesn’t matter whether it was long or short, petrol or battery. Went to the local Skoda garage yesterday and they have identified a engine temp sensor fault. Hopefully this will be repaired today and resolve the issue.
  11. Quick update on amber engine warning repair, car went in yesterday to have battery cable fitted ( it will take all day?) I also mentioned that I had noticed that the engine cooling fan has been running excessively and could they look into this . Garage phoned late yesterday to advise that the had found a fault with the engine temperature sensor and would need the car for a further day, they did agree to bring the vehicle to me though when complete. I await its return……
  12. Ok, so I have received the battery insulation mat safety recall and booked my car into my local Fareham Skoda dealer in Early June as advised. They needed the vehicle all day. Upon collecting the car (expecting it all to be sorted) I was advised that they had done a software update (allegedly the first part of the fix) but would need to wait for the mat fitting, which would be conducted at their Sparshotts workshop towards the end of August. This was not conveyed to me at the time of booking the vehicle in. So I am now awaiting for their workshop to get up to speed with the specialist fitting requirements etc. Last week the amber engine warning symbol appeared, according to the manual this is an exhaust emissions fault? The vehicle did not go into limp home mode. I booked the vehicle in for a check and repair, which was arranged for today 11/8. (Again they needed the vehicle for a full day). Upon collecting the vehicle I was advised that the gateway software had been updated and the issue was resolved. I asked for an explanation on why the engine management light had come on and was advised this was to ensure the vehicle came in for software update? I drive the car out of the garage and notice the amber engine warning light is on? I return to the garage and advise them that the fault has returned. 5 mins later after reception had contacted the workshop I am advised that there is a battery issue which can be resolved via a software update, they had conducted this and the light went out in the workshop. However, the workshop notes advised that if the light went on again a replacement battery cable would be required. They need to order the part and will contact me once it arrives (anticipated Sat Aug 13th). I feel like we are being fobbed off and kept in the dark about these issues, or is it the dealers milking the recall system for their benefit at our expense? Is anyone else having the same experience?
  13. Hi Beasty54, You are not being rude, but adding some insight, no offence taken. My understanding is that the original concern raised by Biggles 33, was related to his forecast battery mileage which after a full charge at night has recently dropped of significantly. It is this issue I am trying to address with my example. I have/had the same issue. As you seem to have gathered I use the planner, and charge on a nightly basis. During the milder weather I more often than not started the charge cycle (after my daily 20-22 miles commute) with 25% of unused battery charge, worth approx 8 miles. So the 4 hrs was enough to fully charge the battery and I used to get a 30-32 mile forecast after charging, despite setting the minimum battery charge level to 0%. Now that the cold weather is here and despite the same daily commute, I am finding that my battery is depleted before the start of the night charge cycle, so as you and I have noted this would and has led to a drop off in the forecast mileage by approx 30% after a 4 hr night charge, i.e. not enough time to fully charge the battery (although the battery indicator on the dash shows full). That is the point you made and I was trying to make. For clarity, my response is not trying to address the forecast miles over actual miles achieved, which will be due to many variables and will reduce in the winter anyway, but why the sudden reduction in the forecast battery mileage after his night time charge without any apparent reason. I was trying to demonstrate that my example could be a possible cause for his drop off in the forecast miles and if that is the case my solution may also provide the solution for him or not? I have my fingers crossed that by increasing my minimum battery charge level today to 30% will get me back to a circa 30-32 miles forecast after a 4hr night charge. I hope I haven’t over complicated this.
  14. Hi Biggles33, I have a similar issue where I have noted the drop off in predicted miles in recent weeks after an over night charge. I used to get between 28 and 31 miles predicted after a 4 hour overnight charge (taking advantage of off peak rates with a certain multi limbed supplier) using home supply from the 3 pin plug, this dropped to between 22 and 24 miles in recent weeks and in reality is delivering about 20 miles. My average daily commuting is around 22 miles. Previous setup - minimum battery charge was at 0%, I think this worked for me in the spring/summer as in the majority of cases I would have about 25% of battery charge remaining, prior to an overnight 4 hr charge. However, with the cold weather my actual ev miles are dropping off and I would be at or close to 0% battery charge prior to 4 hr overnight charge. Therefore not having sufficient time to properly charge the battery to optimum levels. Noting it can take up to 5.5hrs to fully charge the battery. Yesterday I upped the minimum charge level to 20% and achieved a predicted 26 miles this morning, a 10% improvement. Today I am setting the minimum charge level to 30%, hopefully this will see a further increase in predicted miles. Watch this space?
  15. I have had this happen a few times, infotainment glitch, normally resets itself after a short break (Switching off for a while). I have had the SOS error resolved by a software upgrade (thank goodness), but still get the occasional loss of sound fault. I guess there will be a fix at some point.
