  1. But how do you know the majority haven't got it right? I don't and nor do you or anyone else for that matter. I have no problem with the Remainer's feeling they been hard done by, but I can't accept that their claims that all their prophesies of doom are coming true when we're only five days after the vote and are still full members of the EU. They might be proved right over the longer term or proved wrong, but we won't know for another five or ten years or more. But then we won't know if the EU will exist in five or ten years. Staying could have proved an even bigger risk. In a couple of years time we may be agreeing free trade agreements with a post EU France, Netherlands, Italy and possibly Spain too. As our government at the time refused to allow Whitehall to do any contingency planning, we're in a more unsettled period than we needed to have been, but over the coming weeks and months things will settle down and negotiations on the shape of our future will begin.
  2. You sound like a typical European bureaucrat, if you don't like the result of a vote, tell the people they're wrong and to keep voting until you get the answer you want. I would be surprised if another referendum now would not result in the same outcome or even a larger vote to leave. Given your unswerving belief that you're right and capable of more reasoned and rational thought than your 'friends', I'm surprised they even give you the time of day!! It's amazing that with the result barely 5 days old, Remainer's are claiming that their doom laden forecasts are coming true. Everyone knew that there would be some disruption in the markets and that the political parties would have to resolve their differences, but that didn't change the way they voted. Keep Calm and Carry On!!
  3. Thank you for respecting the democratic rights of UK citizens to choose who they want to govern them. In many ways, it's views like yours that probably encouraged many to vote leave. The people are generally fed up being told they are too thick to know what's good for them. You should sit down in a darkened room, take a few deep breaths and then when you look again outside you will see the world still turning and people going about their business. If you still feel hard done by as a result of this decision, then you are currently free to move and take up residency in any of the remaining 27 countries that takes your fancy or further afield if you prefer.
  4. That's just from an on-line vote and is now at 79% leave UK. A poll by TNS has leave at 52%, which is way below what she would need to have any assurance of victory. I wonder whether, when the implications of a vote to leave the UK are made to the Scottish electorate, they will be quite as enthusiastic. The economics look quite a bit worse than in 2014 and the possibility of trade barriers with Scotland's biggest market might make the people think twice. I not quite sure why the Scots feel betrayed. The realisation must be that Scotland accounts for about 10% of the UK electorate and therefore will have 10% of the influence. Not everyone in Scotland voted to remain and 33% of the electorate couldn't be bothered to vote, so actually only 42% of the electorate voted to remain in the EU. As I said, the maths look tricky for the poison dwarf and she is being cautious about another vote as a loss again will mean she's toast.
  5. I'm not sure the maths stacks up for Scottish Indyref2. 1.6M voted leave at the Scottish Indy referendum in 2014 (38% of electorate). So 62% voted stay (in UK) or didn't vote. Turnout 85%. 1.6M voted remain at the EU referendum (38% of the electorate). So 62% voted leave EU or didn't vote. Turnout 67%. Whilst the poisoned dwarf has to do something about the SNP core, the likelihood of a leave UK vote (with the additional uncertainties of having to apply for EU membership, having to adopt the Euro, a possible physical border between England and Scotland, loss of UK subsidies and oil price) is not a dead cert by any means. A second indy referendum loss for the SNP would probably signal their eminent demise. I think Nicola knows which side of her organic, fairtrade sourdough is buttered! But by all means go for it, but please let the English vote as well this time
  6. Your poison dwarf of a leader will now have to show us the size of her balls. Personally, I don't think she'll call for another referendum, despite the usual rhetoric, as she's no more likely to win it than last time. Sinn fein will be bought off like they have been in the past. Turnout in both Scotland and Northern Ireland was quite a bit lower than England and Wales.
  7. I do hope you put a bet on Leave so you have some winnings to commiserate with!
  8. :cocktail:  OH HAPPY DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. You don't know enough about who I know to make any sort of reasoned statement, but as a clue they cover roughly 99.5% of all income levels and are spread across all political persuasions. Remain is only London, SE and Scotland, rest of UK wants out (thankfully the weather will keep plenty of London's Remainer's out of the voting booths). Hopefully Labour supporters who were assumed to be for Remain but actually want out will make the effort to vote. Bookies, like the pollsters, got the 2015 general election wrong. It the odds were more realistic, I'd put money on Remain (it's an old betting stance - bet on what you don't want to happen so if it does at least you can enjoy your winnings). Fingers crossed that sanity will prevail and tomorrow can be our 'Independence Day' so we can look forward to a brighter future and the impending implosion of the EU  :cocktail:
  10. It's highly regional this vote. Here in the North West, I don't know anyone locally voting remain. A straw poll by one of my wife's customers (in agriculture) had 65 voting out, 0 voting remain.
  11. Trouble is Scotland accounts for less than 10% of UK voters so a remain vote of 60% might not make much difference in the overall result.
  12. Seeing as they've had heavy rain and storms in London (and SE) and bad weather usually discourages Labour voters from turning out (mostly Remain?), I'd say God wants us to vote for Brexit :sun:
  13. I'm not sure there would be much of a reason to buy an Astra if it wasn't produced here, so Vauxhall/Opel would effectively be pulling out of the UK market. I can't see that - it's just more Remain sabre rattling BS.
  14. It's the same when you scrape away the Remain BS; their sole argument is that leaving will result in recession, WW3 and the breakdown of civilisation as we know it. No positive reasons for staying at all (because there aren't any of course). Also, you don't have to be xenophobic, bigoted and racist to have concerns about immigration. Many people are concerned at the effect on public services and their local communities. Remain want to paint anyone who questions un-controlled immigration as xenophobic, bigoted and racist, but to do so demonstrates a staggeringly blinkered and naive view and will hopefully be the reason Remain lose on Thursday and Cameron and Osborne are toast on Friday,
  15. I'm guessing you take everything Remain say as gospel? Both sides are guilty of the most enormous, disingenuous hyperbole. Most sensible people don't believe much of what either side says and will base their decision on their 'gut feeling' as to how much they think the EU looks after their individual interests and how much they trust the EU to look after UK interests. With regard to Turkey joining the EU, ask yourself one question: will Turkey (and those other countries) join the EU BEFORE we have another referendum on our membership of the EU? If the answer is 'yes' then it is fair to consider it as part of your decision making process for how you vote on Thursday, if the answer is No, then how can you be so sure? This is a quote from the UK governments Ankara embassy webpage (http://www.gov.uk/government/world/organisations/british-embassy-ankara): "Our network of posts in Turkey, including the British Embassy in Ankara and our Consulate General in Istanbul, develop and maintain relations between the UK and Turkey. We work on a wide range of issues including Turkey’s bid to join the European Union, the economy, energy policy and international security. We have a dedicated team working on projects to improve Turkey’s prospects of joining the EU. We are improving ties between British and Turkish companies to ensure that we meet the target set by the British prime minister and his Turkish counterpart in 2010 to double bilateral trade by 2015."
  16. Not had any paint problems, but dim lights can be improved by fitting these: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-accessories/winter-essentials/winter-maintenance/upgrade-headlamp-bulb/?48177022F&0&cc5_847 or similar. It's quite a simple DIY job, but made easier if you have small hands!
  17. Great film and a great book (just read it on holiday)!!
  18. I think Top Gear with Clarkson in charge actually started in October 2002, here's an extract: https://youtu.be/_fPSzSVD9mE?list=PLFBF5D68A37F63409
  19. I'll reserve judgement on the new Top Gear until I've seen a few more episodes, but it wasn't a great start (but then, nor was Clarkson's first re-launch of the show). Best surprise for me was Rory Reid on Extra Gear - think he should have a shot at the main programme, he looked a natural. Chris Harris on the other hand looked very nervous and uncomfortable, might have been a step too far for him. Even his track test on the Nomad wasn't particularly informative, with pretty much all the information he imparted available from a sales brochure.
  20. Plenty of organisations not funded by the EU support Brexit. It seems that if you receive funding from UK Treasury or EU, you have to promote Remain for fear of losing funding. Today's net migration figures http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36382199 (which the BBC would prefer not to have to report) amply demonstrates why Remain live in Cuckoo Land. June 23rd - Vote Leave, it's the only option that brings with it optimism. Vote Remain to continue wallowing in the EU bile.
