I’ve had a quote now for fitting, oil change and coding for £600 so with the £500 refurbished part it’s looking a lot better than £2800. Thank you all for the help. Is it with holding onto my old one and selling it on?

Thank you all for the above! Don’t mind admitting me and wife been in tears trying to figure out where we’re finding £2800. Calling garages in my area now to see who will fit one of the refurbed ones.

So only the sensors break? Nothing else goes wrong? I only get odd gears. No evens or reverse.

I’ve read a bit of advice about refurbs not always working and you end up having to get a new one anyway. Is that the garages just trying to charge more you think?

Had a quote from a VAG specialist of £2800 for anew mech with gearbox oil and map of the new unit. Had a phone around and no one else can quote me. How does this cost look to everyone? Anyone had it done recently? Mk3 Superb with the 7sp DSG

I listen to most music through YouTube. I’d want it just for that.

Gotten to know her
So first month or so of ownership complete. We bought our mk3 estate due to a baby on the way and having a large dog. The superb being the best wagon out there it was a no brainier really. I’ve always been a bit of a car snob in terms of wanting rare and unique cars. Our other car is a DS5 which I love however they messed up putting such hard suspension on it. That’s now the commuter for whoever’s at work that day. Previous to that I’ve had Alfa GT coupe v6, Z4 M coupe and a raft of Volvos. I have to say the superb is the best car I’ve had. It’s the mix of comfort and the technology that just suit exactly what we need. There is no compromise. Had my first long trip Thursday. A flying visit to South Wales and back from Cambridge in a day. This is my first car with radar cruise and what a difference it makes to getting tired. Takes so much stress away just leaning on the tech to look after you. I’ve always tongue in cheek made fun of VAG group cars, mainly the why would you buy a Audi Q5 when Skoda do the same underpinnings for less kind of thing. But I think having the Superb is the best balance to that as it’s the best value on this chassis but I don’t feel like I’ve lost any luxury at all. It’s certainly better built than my Z4 M coupe. This forum has been great as well. The Z4 forum was great but most others are very hit and miss. The Superb section on this forum is bursting compared to the other models and you’re all very knowledgeable. Baby was born on Sunday and hopefully coming out of hospital soon after a few little scares. And we can get Jenson the dog in with him. Cars been nicknamed JBP (Jenson Baby Palace) due to the palatial size of the thing. Perfect family car is ready to go.

Epilogue (3 parts)
I did forget the back seats thing! Looks great! Was thinking of trading in our DS5 commuter for a Mini diesel and this review might sway me with the steering feel.

I can’t wait for this conclusion. I’m hoping Alpine A110

Skoda Superb Estate - Advice Required
All depends how you drive. We got a diesel because we do around 15k a year either driving from Cambridgeshire to Wales/Cornwall or 30 minute drives locally. We’re getting low 60mpg in the first few months of owning. Petrol is better if your going to be doing low miles and a lot of short journeys.

Stage 1 Tuner - Dragon remapping
I’ve used Celtic Tuning on 3 of my past cars. Come to you if you want which is quite handy. They’re quoting a lot better figures.

Fluorescent Yellow Wing Mirrors - Talk me out of it
I think the police might of had a word about it if you’d of done it.

Always pulls to the right...
Does it happen more on a specific road? Could be road camber if garages can’t find anything.

DSG holding gears
It’s just odd how the car remembers you’re in eco or individual for everything bar the gearbox.
-
DSG holding gears
Apparently it’s a fault with most skoda cars. Did a google search and after much digging in a kodiak forum the consensus was it’s just an annoying niggle that you have to reset the drive mode.

DSG holding gears
Morning all, Another question on the gearbox. I’m all set up with an individual setting for the car now with the gearbox in eco. When I start the car it’s automatically in my individual setting however on the instrument cluster the gears show as D not E. They only go to E if I reselect individual. This is also true if I’m in Eco. The dash will show D until Eco is re selected. I did wonder if it switched to E itself after the car warmed up but I tried that yesterday and it didn’t. any ideas 🤷🏼♂️

DSG holding gears
I think I’ve figured it out. The throttle travel is about 3 inches longer than my DS5. So a tiny movement on that is hardly anything on the Superb, I was just too light on it. I’ve been pushing a bit further and the delay isn’t there any more. Just need to recalibrate my brain!

Yeah that’s it marky, the first bit. I’ve not had a dsg before so didn’t know if that was normal or not.- DSG holding gears
Yep tried that. Always a pause at about 2400rpm where it just holds the gear before changing.- DSG holding gears
It’s the 150 engine. No it’s in e1,2,3 on the display. Just won’t change gear till it’s a lot higher in the Rev range than I’d expect.- DSG holding gears
Hello all. New to the site and I’ve done a big hello in the relevant places. I’ve got a question relating to the dsg. I feel like it holds gears a bit longer than I normally have experienced with my other torque converter DS5. Is this a normal dsg thing or maybe a slight fault. I’m normally driving in eco mode 2018 superb estate. - DSG holding gears
