Serpentine belt
Good evening. My bonnet is still stuck shut, so I fitted a new belt via the offside wheel well, lining out etc. Had morning squeals and car is on 83k, thought it prudent. It was easy enough. My question is, I put in a 6pk1120 Contitech, but removed the old VAG original which was a 6 rib 1117, is this normal? Every site advised the 6pk1120 for my car. CCZA 2.0tsi. Is the 1120 ok? It seemed a perfect fit with normal tension. Test drive was fine. Really can't be bothered taking it apart again, far too cold out there. Thanks.

Bonnet will not open.
Afternoon, Long story short, my Superb mk2 bonnet will not open, was only checking screenwash, nothing major, it has opened without issue until today. New serpentine belt going on tomorrow, but that's through the offside wheel arch. I have taken the handle off, the little plastic insert was broken, so took off trim and plastic attached to car and pulled the end with pliers, no joy. It feels stuck, as not pulling out much, did not give it to hard a pull in case the end snapped off. Tried the bonnet, it feels really wedged shut, like something is wedged in the mechanism. Any advice welcome. I have a journey through the mountains Saturday, so screenwash is paramount having grit every mile. Thanks.

Drivers side interior door handle
Evening all. Any assistance to the above please? Absolute zero info online regarding this issue. Sort of assuming its a new Bowden cable but would love it be simpler. Merry Xmas.

Drivers side interior door handle
Morning all. As I am off this week I am currently do odds and sods on the car. New rear spring arriving later so bit of tine to kill before that fun job in the rain. Noticed my drivers sideinterior door handle is a bit flimsy, stretched cable or loose screws? Can I just take the surround off and have a look or is the whole door card off? Dont want to damage it unnecessarily. Have trim tools. Hoping its the former, due to the weather. Any advice welcome.

Rear nearside spring
Thank you for the info, cannot remember my build code, but will look into it. Need to order one this weekend, am still using the car as have no choice up here. Spring broke at the top so is still doing its job, sadly the rubber damper fell out whilst up on the stands.

Rear nearside spring
Afternoon all. Does anybody know the correct part number for a nearside rear spring please? Found the cause of metallic rattle, very top of my spring was stuck in the basement of the arm, spring still functions, just not ideal, about an inch missing. Online shows two different springs. No wish to order both. Car is a superb 2.0tsi 2012 Saloon. Any advice welcome.

Rear shocks needed.
Hey Karpov. I will check that tomorrow, thank you for the tip..

Rear shocks needed.
All seems fine No noise under braking at all. Had a stuck front caliper recently, but changed that. All four corners had new discs and pads last year.

Just to add, I have had cars with broken track rods and springs, but this sound is like a metallic rattle only from the left rear, and only on the big bumps, my road is appalling but main Rds are fine. For the life of me, I cannot pin point it or record it. I even took out the parcel shelf just in case that was the vibration. Hoping to replace the shocks and it goes away. Tyre wear is normal.- Rear shocks needed.
Thanks for the reply. I have been under it, checked the spring, looks fine, tiny bit of rust and missing black protective cover, but no cracks. My disc covers are all fine as replaced all 4 last year. Drop links are fine. When the weather breaks I will check the ride height again with a tape measure. Its an odd one.- Rear shocks needed.
Morning all. Car is Superb mk2 2.0 TSI saloon I have a strange metallic rattle coning from my near side rear and after a lot of looking about and jumping up and down in the boot, I believe its the strut failing. The dust cover has failed but that's not the noise as its plastic. The car looks like its sitting lower on that side also, just a smidge. My question is, is replacing them myself a big job or pretty straight forward? My local indy has no space until the end of January. Watched some videos, but they don't always show the real picture. Thinking of getting Sachs as I believe they are the originals.- My Columbus has changed into German
Try @Vroom if he is still about on here, its been a couple of years though.- My Columbus has changed into German
If your software matches mine, I can send you a disc. We will need folk on here to help with that though. Will go through my replies tomorrow and message the chap who helped me.- My Columbus has changed into German
A very nice member on here sent me the correct link for my software, my IT chap burnt it onto a disc and 20 mins later, my head unit was fluent in English once more. I still have the disc just in case.- My Columbus has changed into German
If I remember, its been a while, you turn it on and hold the MENU button for 3 or 4 seconds and the system menu appears. Then choose an option. As I said, its been a while since I had mine stuck on German.- The Inevitable Throttle Body Clean
They do burn cleaner. Prone to carbon build up, but luckily on get my car up to temp a lot due to location. My TB after its last clean 15k ago. To be honest it was in really good shape before the clean. Found and easy way to replace the hose also. Mine is a 2012 2.0tsi, hopefully all good.- The Inevitable Throttle Body Clean
I did mine a couple of years ago, as I have a petrol, it was not bad at all, pictures in previous post. A bit fiddly but worth it. I was wondering if the state of our throttle bodies is an indication therefore of our injectors etc?- Insurance renewal what the hell !
Wow, that's great. Mine went down by £80 this January, I was shocked when I opened that email, agreed to the renewal quote in 30 seconds. Thought it maybe an age thing or my location.- Parts name engine bay
I believe it to be an Air intake duct. They are not expensive, but those wee tabs are very flimsy.- Drivers side window.
According to one Skoda dealer yes. Another no, as I did not have the work done by a Skoda mechanic. My local indy bought it from Skoda on the 9th December ready for my fitting in the 21st 2022. So they based it on the 9th, it broke on the 12th, last week. So out of warranty. Am pleading my case to my mechanic but can't push too hard as we don't have a great deal of choice of trusted garages up here! We shall see.- Drivers side window.
Evening. More of a rant than a post, apologies. My drivers window cable has snapped again, within 2 years of a new door card being fitted. It was not cold this time as I learnt my lesson two winters ago in very cold conditions. Skoda said they only have a year warranty, really gutted that I have to spend a lot of money on the same part yet again. A very shoddy part made by VW or a usual good money spinner. I am fitting this one myself to save two hours labour charge at £75 plus vat ph. Am hoping they used screws after they took the speaker rivets out. I will wait until it's a bit warmer though!- Obdeleven and XDS
I agree @DrCorbyLee. A lot of the adaptions are very beneficial for the car and driver, especially from a safety aspect, Hill Assist being one of them. My Elegance did come with a lot of them as standard with the trim anyway. Maybe they charged for the extras at the Dealers, a 2 minute job for £100 plus vat, sounds like them!.- Obdeleven and XDS
@DrCorbyLee Good evening. I activated XDS and set it to Medium. What a difference it has made. In the rain, doing my usual 60mph on my peninsula's tightest bends, it felt like it was on rails, no steering correction needed. Thanks for the advice mate. - Rear shocks needed.
