  1. Hi Ken. Thank you for the suggestion. I tried that, a new message comes up and then just freezes. It's asking for the SWL disk, which did not come with the car. I can see my radio settings also, but no sound from them or a cd. I have some long quiet drives ahead!
  2. Thank you for your reply. May I ask what reflashing means please? If that does not work then is it a main dealer issue? Mine is 2.5 hours away.....
  3. Good morning all. I wonder if anyone has any advice with regard to my Columbus suddenly changing language for no apparent reason at all, one minute it was on Radio Skye the next, total silence, nothing working. The car did not come with any disks for rebooting etc, I am going to peruse the manual later but I have a long drive shortly and its going to be rather quiet without the radio. Any advice most welcome. Thanks
  4. I live on the Mallaig to Armadale Ferry Rd where cars are doing 30 to 40mph in the national speed limit rd with signs! Camper vans can be at 30mph for miles. So we overtake a few. It's a very straight Rd with no house or side rds, sheep and deer can be a nuisance though. Once I pass I put it out of Sports, still drinks a lot though.
  5. My best was 41mpg on my fast 12 mile Rd to the shops. 15 minute journey, no traffic, one T junction. Average if I use Sports mode to overtake is around 27mpg. 2012 2.0 tsi dsg 200bhp.
  6. I am going to let my long suffering mechanic source and fit the lot, I undertake a lot of jobs but stay away from fitting suspension as its much easier if the car is in the air. I will have a look at the KYB's though. Cheers
  7. Thanks J.R. I think everything is leading me to get new stock fronts, the wallowing is not going to get any better, I had a pogo moment earlier at 60mph on my B road that nearly made me cross the centre white lines! I will have a hunt tonight for prices and book it into my local indie. Thanks for your advice.
  8. Thank you. I bought the car from Colchester at 37k and its done the rest up here on fast mountain rds. It's 10 years old so I agree that the gas has leaked out gradually. I think I will just change them soon, stock shocks are not expensive.
  9. Good morning Derbyshirebod. Thank you for the info, mine is only on 48000 but maybe its time I changed the front, the wallowing and recoil on my 60mph is getting a bit disconcerting. Will save some cash not upgrading....can spend it on fuel. Cheers.
  10. Thank you Carlston. I will look into the B4's, good price and my local garage will fit them for me. The wallowing on my road in certain fast sections is pretty bad. Will let you know the outcome.
  11. Evening, Need a bit of advice on shocks please. My Superb 2.0 tsi dsg is very twitchy in Sport mode, 1st and 2nd gear at 7k rpm the front is not settled at all, 3rd at 80mph it settles a bit but not what I would call completely stable, I paddle up a gear to smooth it out. I have the 197bhp Elegance model. It's very spongy on the B road I live on also. Would lowering it help? It corners very well but far to bouncy for me on the straights. Any recommendations on better suspension welcome, my previous car was a Passat Sport and handled far better on my roads, although it was a piece of crap car wise! Thank you in advance. Ps, I know nothing about suspension but my budget is decent.
  12. Tracking number is a good idea. Royal mail would have provided one on the receipt. The supply chains are very slow in my industry at the moment.
  13. Exactly. Cheers mate. Have a good night.
  14. Hi Delboy. I have just done exactly that, piece of cake to get out. It span by hand but not too freely. Looked at previous comments on here so just sprayed some WD40 on it, let it soak, plugged the electrics back in and hey presto, spinning like new. Will reinstall it soon. Big relief as they are not cheap
  15. Hello from Skye
  16. Good evening. My Climatic heater blower stopped very suddenly or rather did not work yesterday on start up. All the wee green lights work on every setting but nothing blowing. Looked on here and it sounds like either the Bosch resistor or the fan. I had a look under the glove box, for a ten year old car it's absolutely in perfect condition, no water or corroded wires, gave the blower a gentle tap and took the connectors out for inspection. Zilch. Nothing on the scan. Am hoping it's the resistor of course as they are cheap. The blower is a Valeo, is that the original factory part or did the previous owner replace it already? Any advice welcome as I need it to keep the windscreen clear and its still a bit nippy up here. Cheers
  17. Surely this site had their details?
  18. Agreed. It's not nice to not communicate with a buyer.
  19. That's not good. Is there anything you can do via this site or your bank? Track them via their personal details? Or, they have a valid reason due to illness or family issues. Crossing my fingers still.
  20. Hi Alex, Have you received the intake pipe yet?
  21. Morning. That is a tad ironic as I got my 2012 2.0tsi from Essex and delivered to Scotland! Everything was perfect apart from the red safety triangle was missing. I am afraid the new umbrella was posted yesterday to a nice chap in Cheshire. They are available online of course. Sorry again and enjoy your very low milage car. Missing wheel nuts is amazingly dangerous.
  22. Fingers crossed for you Alex, am sure all will be well and it's on its way. Let me know how the fitting goes as am tempted to fit one onto my 2.0tsi.
  23. Never been used by the looks of it, still has the Skoda tag on the cover! The previous owner must have forgotten about it, had the car 10 months now.
