  1. 40k miles with "motorsport" stickers and a remap? I'd say that's been raped mercilessly. I suspect it's on variable as well, so that'll mean it's probably only had two oil changes or something silly. If it were me, I'd run a mile...!
  2. 1 - Missp (+ a possible minip) 2 - Apd007 (I know you are comin as co-mastermind behind this Alan so will add you to the list) 3 - Bluefox (unsure who's coming with me yet) 4 - REH17
  3. I couldn't agree more. If it were me I'd watch the used market for a Superb II, I suspect they'll depreciate as much as the Superb I did.
  4. I'm sorry to hear that mate :( It's always those of us who care about out cars that end up being shafted. In answer to your question though, I've claimed through a Norwich Union based insurer (was Arnold Clarke, but insurance was with Norwich Union) and they were very good; although that was probably because they used a local body shop I already knew. If memory serves I actually requested they used that one as it was easier for me to get to.
  5. Bring the estate down. You know it makes sense. You can do my wheel bearings on the car park
  6. Well, I've just realised I've changed jobs, so I'm no longer working this weekend... result 1 - Missp (+ a possible minip) 2 - Apd007 (I know you are comin as co-mastermind behind this Alan so will add you to the list) 3 - Bluefox (unsure who's coming with me yet)
  7. Rubbish! Buy something like these: Merc rims ftw!
  8. You didn't tell us that! Yeah, it's probable. They're got pad wear warning sensors on the front IIRC, so it's probably got into those. Perhaps VAG-COM will reveal exactly what's caused it?
  9. Hm, never heard of these... assuming that it's an equivalent to the Koni FSD?
  10. That looks similar to the code on the white tag which was attached to my spare key... immobiliser code?
  11. Yeah, SJ's spot on and while you're in there it's well advised to seal it/replace the sealing strip. If it helps, I believe the filter is a Coopers ACE006 which is stocked by all Halfords superstores.
  12. The ones on my Superb (somehow) broke and my daughter's only 2 1/2... hmm... I suspect her mother!
  13. Well, glad to hear you're sticking with the Superb - for a minute there I thought we'd lost you back to the Griffin...
  14. If you think he's a trader, speak to (his) local Trading Standards. Least then they can confirm.
  15. Yeah, I'll let you know when it's sorted. Itching to get her looking good
  16. Ask Ross... He's right, the whole episode was a slightly epic battle. Well worth it though, repeat customer here...
  17. Sounds like fluid or pad warning to me.
  18. AG aqua on wheels? That works? I may be of the Baker school of thinking, but I've hard good things about Jetseal 109...
  19. Late perhaps, but I'd buy the Eagle GSD3's while you can.
  20. I would normally agree but I fear when he reads this he won't be able to leave whatever room he's in... Seriously, having seen him work, a top man and an asset to the site for sure. Clive, posting pics or is Baker doing that?
  21. So, careful investigation centered the leak around the rad/intercooler areas. There was no obvious signs of gasket failure, cracks, etc. I didn't take long however before the guys noticed this: Blown intercooler  Just so happened we were chatting with their remap technician, who stated that he'd come across A2's "blowing the end caps" off their 'coolers - something none of us had seen before - when they were badly mapped. Interesting, then, that Ross found this in the engine bay: So, if any of you didn't bother reading my review of these bloody things in my Superb's PD, consider this as vindication! Ross thinks the box caused the boost to spike, which in turn popped the intercooler. So, resolution - she's booked in to U18 for a new intercooler this week, and that damn box is removed. She got me home okay - but unfortunately lost boost the next day, so I'm driving Mum's Furby again. Future plans then are still centred around this: New Intercooler New OSF and NSF wheel bearings New K&N air filter Full Baker21 detail New rear tyres/new wheels More updates as and when, but that's all for now!
  22. Well, her first trip to Unit 18 swiftly followed, booked in for the obligatory cambelt/water pump/tensioner change. There was the best part of no service history with the car - stamps in the book from garages, not VAG or specialist; and worst of all no mention of a cambelt change. In 125-odd thousand miles... Anyway, she arrives and after the way is clear from the previous work - another Brisky member, nice chap, missed his name; had driven from Sheffield to get the Eibach/FSD/remap treatment - she gets straight on the ramps: ...and Ross gets straight down to business. The first job, as ever, is to remove that stupid - but always required - pit of plastic from the bottom of the engine. I'd noticed it had a bit of oil leaking from around the joins/gaps with the bumper etc, but I just put this down to VAG's poo intercooler seals. I used to have a Superb, after all. So, the amount of oil didn't really worry me. Until, when I, armed with the Flash and a pressure washer, heard Ross say something along the lines of: "Er... that's a little more than intercooler seals..." Uh oh. Investigation work continues throughout this visit, which I'll come back to later. Work continues with the cambelt, although the first job was to clean the damn place up. Queue Ali with his bargain brake cleaner (which he spent ten minutes explaining to Ross how cheap it was): Once cleaned (check out that sump!!), work could commence: I then wondered outside to call SWMBO, and got slightly distracted by these cheeky little numbers, both for sale: Sadly, I had no money otherwise I'd have driven that Caddy home! Beautiful. Anyway, back in the real world, both of the highly trained, elite killing machines at Unit 18 were hard at work: ...so I took the opportunity to poke around the rest of the car, checking all was well. Baker may meet his match here, check out these swirls! So, with the pump etc done - even after fitting a damper which I'm assured is the first time U18 have had a required part in stock (I'm claiming this milestone here, sorry Ross) - they moved onto the more trivial things. First, Ross dropped my oil and switched to the more sensible and certainly less expensive fixed schedule although I've not taken pics of this. For obvious reasons. Then, Ross changed the brake fluid for Super DOT 4: ...while Ali battled with the fuel filter. That's about your lot, in terms of work. Ross kindly checked the fault codes - which thankfully were clear - and removed my problematic stereo: Remember those marks on the dash? Turns out someone had tried to have a go at the stereo, in a past life as it were... so my removal keys were an epic fail. Even Baker, his Mrs, and removing the climate control panel didn't work. As usual however, Ross triumphed and I've now got my Alpine rocking my, erm, two speaker system. At this point however all was good - and the oil slick post-mortem started...
  23. Glad I could be of service About the offer on the cheapest pressure washer though - it's not always 50% off the last price it was sold at. Advertising regulation states that we have to sell it at the (higher) price we quote within a certain period, but it doesn't have to be the last one (i.e. £40 in this case).
  24. Hmm, I doubt it. It's not like these things are commonly modified. Best bet is to go custom via someone like Powerflow.
  25. Nah, I reckon 6 weeks before the 306 is up for sale Nice work Tom, that should save you a few quid
