  1. As far as I know there’s no way to disable this. I just use the steering wheel buttons to return to my usual info screen which is overall driving data (distance travelled, average speed, mpg etc).
  2. Just turn lane assist off. It’s just two button presses every time you start the car.
  3. Yes, I think that figure is fine too, for a petrol engine with plenty of power and torque. I also disagree with the comment re the adaptive cruise. If you set it to operate in economy mode it doesn’t floor the accelerator to resume its set speed.
  4. I too read those comments before buying the Kamiq and so was a bit wary as my wife has a similar issue to yours. However, when we tried the car in the showroom and on the test drive it was fine. But we came from a Golf GT which had lowered suspension so for us the increase in ride height was more noticeable. I doubt you’d find that coming from a Yeti When I was researching ride heights etc I stumbled upon this website - https://www.ridc.org.uk/features-reviews/out-and-about/car-search which I found really useful.
  5. From Northumberland to London, 295 miles, me and the other half plus a bootful of luggage, max speed 70 (adaptive cruise), average speed 57, 49.1 mpg. Superbly comfortable and quiet, Apple CarPlay navigation was faultless and even alerted me to police speed vans on motorway bridges, effortless with the 1.5’s power and the DSG. What a great car.
  6. When you start the car you’ll soon get used to the routine of pressing the steering wheel button then the silver rotary control to turn off lane assist. Two button presses then it’s done. Re the infotainment, yes I’ve had a couple of glitches with it, but nothing major. Having the lead plugged in to the iPhone makes no difference to connectivity one way or the other. I’ve had the car for 3 months now and the minor irritations are just that and nothing more. I love it.
  7. I would echo the above. I have the Kamiq 1.5 and before that a Golf for 9 years with the 1.4 TSI which also had the ACT. You do not notice the cylinders cutting out at all. Personally I wanted the increased power and torque of the 1.5 over the 1.0 and it definitely delivers in this respect. As for economy, the published figures for mpg show little difference, and now the car has loosened up a bit I am now getting 50mpg plus in mixed driving.
  8. Not cheeky at all, feel free to pm me. I’m sure you’ll like the car, I love mine, so comfy and relaxing to drive.
  9. Sorry I might have sowed some confusion. The one I was referring to as excellent is the eBay one mentioned by cestrian.
  10. That’s exactly the one I bought a few weeks ago. I couldn’t be more pleased with it. Much cheaper than the other ones I’ve looked at, and so I was worried that some corners may have been cut in its manufacture. But it is excellent, slightly soft, with a textured surface which helps to stop things sliding about. Best of all it is a perfect fit, unlike some other generic offerings. It’s probed its worth already - food shop this week, went to unpack from the boot and one of the milk cartons had leaked. All contained by the liner, took out and wiped down. Would have been a horrible mess on the carpet.
  11. Regrettably no. On the SEL Exec it’s part of the travel assist option.
  12. Offer still stands.
  13. I find the downloadable manual very comprehensive and easy to navigate on my iPad. However, I’ve just looked on the Skoda site and they seem to have changed the format of the manual from June onwards. Mine is a pdf, whereas the new one is a webform and I agree, there is not much detail in it. My version is 30Mb so I can’t attach it but if you want to pm me I’ll happily email it to you.
  14. Yes
  15. I don’t bother with the inbuilt navigation, I prefer to use Apple maps, the display I find is more attractive and informative. They don’t show speed limits or cameras until you are navigating somewhere, albeit the speed limit is on the infotainment screen not on the virtual dash.
  16. Doh! I’ve sorted it, realised that I hadn’t turned on notifications for the app in my phone settings.
  17. I thought I’d try to see if this works ok so I triggered the alarm using the manual key to unlock and open the door. I got an email on my phone but no notification, which is pretty unhelpful if like me you don’t check your emails every 10 seconds and I don’t like audible notification for every email that lands. I’ve checked the notification settings in the app and I have selected both email and in-app notification if the alarm is triggered. Have I missed something?
  18. Interesting, thanks. TBH I don’t really see what the massive advantage of TSR is, as I’m not so decrepit (yet) that I don’t watch the road ahead and drive accordingly. Which is why I switch off lane assist as soon as I get in the car. But, I’m a sucker for techie stuff and if I can get TSR activated for a reasonable amount then I will.
  19. Hi ApertureS, I’ve just realised that you seem to have a business specialising in retrofits. I’m not in London but I may be in touch if I’m ever down that way if that’s ok.
  20. Thanks both, it seems odd that the older camera is amenable to modification but I’m sure you know what you’re talking about.
  21. I wouldn’t like to mess with software settings myself. Perhaps I should contact the dealer or possibly a VAG auto electrical specialist- there is an excellent one near me.
  22. I note in the updated Kamiq brochure that this feature is now standard on the SEL Executive. When I ordered mine back in March this was an option as part of the Travel Assist pack. Now I have the car I’m wondering whether the TSR can be enabled via a software adjustment eg through VCDS. After all the front camera is there (for lane assist), it’s a question of whether there needs to be a physical module or chip. Any ideas?
  23. Not an argument, just a healthy discussion! I’ve been driving for more years than I care to remember and since at least the 80s all my cars have had locking wheel nuts. Some of the early ones were a bit iffy but I have to say that I’ve never had a real problem with them. I don’t know the stats re wheels theft and if it’s increasing or not but I do believe that there is a big market now in stolen car spare parts due to the delivery issues. So for me the very minor inconvenience of a locking nut on each wheel gives me a modicum of peace of mind.
  24. Just checked - there is indeed a single letter stamped on the end of the bolt which matches one on the adapter. I had noticed the latter but thought it wasn’t the code as I assumed there must be more than 26 possible configurations. Obviously not!
  25. Thanks for that. There is definitely nothing on the adapter but I’ll have a look on the actual bolt.
