Hi, I'm a new owner of a 2023 Kamiq
If you want to be absolutely sure of the speed limit just use your eyes and pay attention - rather than complaining about the shortcomings of traffic sign recognition systems and satnav.

Ordered a new Kamiq today...
Switching off the lane assist has become automatic for me every time I get in the car. Two button presses and it’s off, then one button press to turn off start-stop and I’m away.

(Very) short errands with a Kamiq 1.0TSi 116?
For all those short trips an electric car would be ideal, or a PHEV. The latter would probably do all those short trips without the engine firing up. However, I’ve just checked and the only PHEVs that Skoda do are the Kodiak and the Superb estate. I’ve driven the Elroq ((BEV) and was very impressed but I’m not in the market for a new car and due to my house setup (car parked in the backyard miles from the consumer unit) it would cost a lot to install a charger.

Spotify problems
A couple of weeks back I tried to load one of my playlists on Apple CarPlay in my Kamiq and the message came up ‘Nothing here’. The last song I played on my phone shows up and I can play that and subsequent songs in the playlist. I’ve looked on Spotify forums which suggests it is a glitch which should be fixed in software updates but so far the issue persists. Anyone experienced similar?

Water in boot
I did. I traced the source of the water to the plastic shroud next to the light - water was running down the scuttle and underneath the shroud. Strangely enough the other side was fine. As a temporary measure I just put duct tape over it, meaning to point it out at the next service and get it fixed under warranty, but I didn’t really want the car in the garage for a day while they pulled it apart so I just left it and it’s fine.

What do you think these marks are?
I have similar marks on my seats. If I press on both sides of the seam to flatten the cloth the marks disappear. Seems to me that it’s the way the flecks in the fabric pattern catch the light.

Quick oil question
I have the same engine. My understanding is that the thinner oil (0W-20), being less viscous, reduces engine friction and so is used to improve mpg.

Komiq spare wheel
I’ve found the trick to easing the space saver out of the well is, after removing the big central plastic nut, to turn the big bolt through 90 degrees to release it from its bayonet type fixing.

MPG 1.0 vs 1,5 litre engines?
I get similar mileage to Aldfort. On one trip from Nottingham to Bristol I actually got 70mpg due to interminable 40 mph limits on the motorway roadworks.

Traffic sign recognition
I wanted to modify my Kamiq which I took delivery of in June 22 to add TSR. I made a few enquiries, including with this company: http://www.advanced-incar.co.uk/ Apparently, it’s not sufficient to have the camera behind the mirror (which I have), but it needs to be the right type of camera, which presumably could be identified via VDCS. I didn’t pursue it as if you are following a route on Apple Maps it displays the speed limit anyway.

can i add options to my car later
My Kamiq has lane assist (which I disable as soon as I start the car) but no traffic sign recognition.

can i add options to my car later
This outfit does a limited range of OEM fitments for Skoda: https://www.hazzydayz.com But they are not cheap and they certainly don’t do all the upgrades you want. Probably cheaper to trade in your car for a newer model.

Rear foglamp
Hi Brian, I can’t help you with how to get the light off but you might want to check out how water is getting in. Some time back I had to get the spare wheel out and I found the well half full of water. Re the rear discs, yes there are lots of comments on various forums about them being made of cheese. Mine have done 16k miles and are badly scored. When I take it in for MOT in June I’ll see if they’re bad enough to fail and get them replaced under warranty, though I understand Skoda may say it’s fair wear and tear, so may have a fight on my hands.

Continuous sound from infotainment
Started the car this morning and within a minute got this alarm type sound from the infotainment screen. Couldn’t cancel it. Only stopped when I turned off the ignition and both I and my passenger got out and shut the doors. It restarted if I opened any door or the boot. It continued this behaviour for about a minute then stopped. When I restarted the car the sound reappeared. Any ideas anyone? Oops- just realised the sound is from the Dashcam. What an idiot. Kamiq decisions decisions
When I bought mine, the SE L Exec had more of the equipment I wanted than the MC. Other than that, and the cosmetic differences, there is little to choose between them. I would check the spec of both in terms of the equipment that matters to you (and whether those items are standard or extra cost options), and decide accordingly. Whichever you choose you won’t be disappointed.

2020 Kamiq with ACC - opinions?
My 2022 model doesn’t have TSR but the ACC is brilliant and totally reliable. You can tweak the distance you want to follow the car in front and the degree of acceleration after it brakes and comes back up to the set speed. And with the DSG box, its ability to come to a stop and then set off again when the car in front moves without touching the pedals is truly amazing. I don’t actually use it in this way but it’s a good party trick.

Skoda Kamiq boot torch
AFAIK the boot torch has never been fitted in the Kamiq, unlike previous Skoda models. I recall a number of people bemoaning this when the Kamiq was introduced. The umbrella in the drivers door and the ice scraper are still there though!
