Water in boot
Thanks toot. I’ll certainly have a look at those areas.

Cheers for your input. Not sure if those possibilities would result in water ingress which didn’t get the boot carpet wet but I’ll certainly investigate.

Water in boot
Hi Tom. Yes I saw your original post re your problem, but in my case the boot floor is completely dry. I don’t use a pressure washer to wash the car but I did try playing the garden hose inside the wheel arches and under the rear of the car to see if that would show up the leak, but nothing. I keep an eye out to see if it recurs when I wash the car again or when we eventually get some rain.

Water in boot
I checked my spare today and found an inch or so of water in the wheel well. No obvious sign of entry. Anyone else had this issue?

Skoda Connect - worth it?
That's interesting. It never occurred to me that the parking location could be used as a tracking device in case of theft. The other stuff - traffic alerts, wifi hotspot - my iPhone provides that, and Siri in my view is superior to Laura. And the renewal price for Connect is definitely £36.

Sorry, posted in wrong forum.

Skoda Connect - worth it?
I’m coming up to a year’s ownership of my Kamiq and have just received an invitation to renew Connect at £36. I’m interested in other peoples view of whether this is worthwhile. In my case, I use Apple Maps for navigation and finding POIs etc. The car doesn’t have a pre-heater so that facility is no use to me. I have never used the honk and flash other than to see if it worked (which it does). I have occasionally checked that the car is locked when I’m away from it but occasionally it has told me that it is unlocked when it is not. Time to service I can check on the infotainment display. The only feature of any benefit to me is the notification of the alarm being activated, which has given me peace of mind when I had to park for a few weeks on a London street. I can’t see the point of the other notifications of speed or area. So I’m minded to let my subscription lapse. Or are there any other benefits that I’m missing?

Rear dashcam
I have the Nextbase 322 with this module fitted to my Kamiq: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nextbase-Add-Module-Cameras-Compatible/dp/B07PV97J2Q/ref=asc_df_B07PV97J2Q/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310801248631&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16960525344189899979&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046757&hvtargid=pla-762457960513&psc=1 I wanted this setup to avoid the difficulty of cabling a camera mounted on the back window. The view it gives obviously isn’t as wide as a rear mounted camera but it certainly fulfils its brief for me. The mounting for the front cam is also very neat - the power lead runs to the mount and the cam attaches with a strong magnet.

Answering phone calls
Some crossed wires here I think. What the OP wants to know is how do you use steering wheel buttons to reject a call when the phone rings, not how to end a call which you’ve answered. AFAIK the only way to reject the call is on the infotainment screen.

Torn between skoda kamiq monte carlo and sel executive
Ok, we’ll leave it there. I’m sure there’s much more we have in common than divides us, notably an affection for the Kamiq. Just different models.

It’s not your opinion that the SEL is bland that I objected to. Which is why I said each to his own. It’s your statement that it’s an old man’s car which is the pointless generalisation. It’s like me saying I don’t care for the MC’s styling, which is a valid opinion, but if I said it’s a hairdresser’s car, or driven by a backwards facing baseball cap wearing boy racer that would be an unfair generalisation. I’ll get off my soapbox now.

Agree re auto. So relaxing to drive. I don’t bother with the paddles but the kickdown for overtaking is very responsive.

That’s a pretty pointless comment. I could say the MC looks like all fur coat and no knickers. Each to his own.

In the same way that people managed for tens of years using A-Zs before Google Maps. I know which I prefer.

Yes, I forgot to mention the rear view camera and the front parking sensors, both really useful to me. I added the heated steering wheel (bliss) and the steel spare wheel. Mine is race blue too.

Depends which options are more important to you. In my case the dual zone aircon, amongst others, was a must have which IIRC was an extra cost option if you opted for the MC as opposed to the SEL Exec. Also I was not keen on the pano roof. In the end it’s all down to personal preference.

Brake disc rust/scoring
Allesandu, looking at your location I’d say pitted brake discs are the least of your worries. Good luck.
-
Brake disc rust/scoring
That’s a good tip re handbrake. I’ll try that.

Brake disc rust/scoring
Should have added, this after a fast 20 mile drive so it’s not been stood in the rain. Looks like the pads are not making consistent contact with the disc.

Brake disc rust/scoring
Hi all I’ve had my Kamiq since June 22 and now has 4000 miles on the clock. I’ve noticed that the rear offside brake disc is heavily scored and rusty. The other 3 are fine, shiny and flat. I’ve checked the handbrake actuation to that wheel is working alright and it is. I’ve seen reference on this forum to similar problems with discs and wonder if this is the same thing and whether Skoda will replace the disc under warranty and not argue that it is a wear and tear item.

Type C usb behind rear view mirror
I’m not really bothered because my dashcam is hard wired to the fusebox but I looked for that socket this morning and it’s not there.

Potential Kamiq 1.5 SE L Executive
I was a bit unsure about the DSG but I spend a fair time driving in town and heavy traffic so thought it would be an advantage. I’m so glad I went for it. It’s as economical as the manual box in my view and if you want more control you can use the steering wheel paddles which this model has. It really is so much more relaxing to drive.

Potential Kamiq 1.5 SE L Executive
I bought mine new last June. I’m very pleased with it, particularly the DSG. Ample power for overtaking, 50 mpg on a motorway run, well equipped, comfortable and quiet. I specced heated steering wheel which I love, but in hindsight I’d have had the heated screen as well.
