“Hiccup” starting from rest - 2015 1.2tsi engine.
The previous owner was a female reverend. Maybe she was driving on Holy Spirit. 😃

“Hiccup” starting from rest - 2015 1.2tsi engine.
An update..... On Monday 5th June the car had its service. My mechanic said the engine air filter was very dirty. He thought the plugs were the original, at 77,000. So new engine air filter, new plugs, fresh oil and filter and the jobs a good un. Car feels a lot better now, hiccup gone and I am sure it's doing better mpg, unless the warmer weather is doing that. Thanks all for the advice.

“Hiccup” starting from rest - 2015 1.2tsi engine.
So, I been driving cars for 58 years and this is the first one I have had to do it to beat a stall. I have mastered in that time releasing the clutch slowly on tick over. I have no problem doing that, only it is slow and when your taking off from traffic lights, or other reason why stopped, it can annoy drivers behind and they are so impatient these days. I can move off with a blip, I can move off by slowly releasing clutch on tick over. What I want to do is move off with no blipping, no slow release of clutch, no annoying other drivers. Service is a week tomorrow so I will see if new plugs and new air filter improves matters.

When I do as suggested the take up is smooth.

Yes I can do that no problem, handy when in a long line of traffic ie holiday traffic hold ups. It’s a bit slow for regular stop starts. Its now only 8 days to its service, see what that brings.

AGFalco - not really like that. My hiccup is cold or hot and every time I start off from rest. If I in start stop traffic, every time I start to move it will hiccup. To beat it I have to blip the throttle this increasing revs more than I normally need.

Thanks for the heads up, toot. I know there seems to be some debate about the cam belt change, I had 100k miles in my mind. What the heck, I will get it sorted. I’m 76 now so I don’t think I will be around when it’s next due. 😃

Thank you toot and nta16 for a speedy reply. The car is actually booked in for a service on June 5th, it is getting new plugs, engine air filter, engine filter and oil so I feeling hopeful from what you both said. I looked at the Briskoda VCDS Owners Map and there are 2 person within 14 minutes drive, one to the left and one to the right. I bought the car just 5 months ago and I am sure the problem wasn’t present then so I am hoping the service sorts.

“Hiccup” starting from rest - 2015 1.2tsi engine.
My Fabia mk3 2015 with 1.2tsi petrol engine has what I can only describe as a hiccup when starting off from stationary.. Cold engine/hot engine does not matter, the hiccup is always there. No problems once got going, not at any speed range. This hiccup will cause the engine to stall unless I catch it. By hiccup I mean it feels as if the engine is missing a beat. I can overcome it by giving the car a blip causing more revs then I think is needed, but if a “new” experienced driver jumped in they would probably stall it frequently. For petrol, I regularly use Costco fuel, normally E5, but it’s the same problem when using E10, which I have done last couple months to see if there is a deference. No difference, the car still hiccups. ANY IDEAS please.

Recall Takata Airbags (April 2023)
it maybe 4 months or so since I visited this forum (it’s a quit forum), so today is the first I knew about this recall check. I agree with toot that it’s pretty poor on Skoda that notices are not sent to registered owners via Swansea. 13 months ago I sold 2 Toyotas for a Fabia and a CitiGo. Toyota re really on the ball when it came to recall notifications. This recall notice says if the airbag activated metal pieces could fly around the cabin area causing serious injury or death. A very poor customer service from a Skoda and I am very disappointed. We like a Skoda cars but this has seriously affected my view of them. It may be a move back to Toyota for us. We had Toyotas for 7 years and always felt cared for.

Fabia winters for sale
Thanks very much for the photos and info. Tyres look good and get a good revue. I pick up a 65 plate Fabia 1.2 TSi SE L on Tuesday. I have concluded I dont need winter tyres. I been driving now for 58 years, been through some severe winters but never resorted to putting on winter tyres. Looks a great buy, but not for me.

What make tyres and how much trade left. Can you give a photo of the wheel trims please.

Citigo added to the family garage.
AGFalco, you have fitted wheelarch liners to your CitiGo. I am waiting delivery for offside wheel arch for both our CitiGo’s. Not bothered with near side. What I need is the bits to fit each. Can you please tell me where I can get the bits from and what exactly I need. If you can give me quantities for 1 offside wheel arch that would be fine.

How accurate is the Citigo speedo ?
I pretty sure vehicle manufacturers are allowed to fit speedos that show a speed in excess of actual, up to 10% I think. A satnav GPS is the accurate one.

CitiGo bulbs H4 or H7?
Read somewhere H4 has 3 connections, H7 has 2 connections.

12v Battery
Yes, the conditions have to be perfect for stop/start to work. Need a good battery, in the winter/colder months heater can take its toll, add demister, back window heater, then add radio, and the s/s may falter sometimes. I use it a lot but sometimes I turn it off, especially if I know the stop isn’t going to be for too long.

Rust around fuel filler door
Anyone know if a CitiGo registration Jan 2014 has the fixing points (albeit hidden) for fixing wheel arch linings? Likewise a CitiGo registration June 2015? Also can someone confirm the numbers for the rear wheel arch liner spacer where lower part of the front of the liner fixes to the body. I gave following numbers to Autodoc but they have queried them ISO 810 987 9b9 ISO 810 988 9b9

2017 Headlamp bulb
Just fitted 2 H4 Osram Nightbreaker bulbs to each of our two CitiGo’s. Getting the 3 bladed connector block off the back of the bulb was difficult, but with a lot of jiggling and pulling at the same time they all released. The differ even for night driving is much better, a whiter light and penetrating the darkness better/further. The fixture in our 63 and 15 place was the swivelling clip.

Varta are good batteries. Looked after that battery may go 8-9 years.

Considering buying a Citigo, any advice please?
Three months ago both my wife and I changed our cars, Toyota hybrid which has a "auto" completely seemless drive train. We chose to go to Skoda CityGo (could have been UP or Mii) with manual box. No problem going back to manual after 5 years of Toyota seemless. We both love our Citigo's. Cheaper to service, to repair and to insure - just renewed the insurance yesterday with LV at £397 for both (fully comp). We are both over 70 and all we need now reliable runarounds. The wifes 63 plate cost £5k and my 15 plate 7K. I have seen low prices like you quote buthtey tend to be high mileaage and manual. Nothing wrong with high mileage if they are sound mechanically and body etc.

Ah, right, I can see the logic there. Thank you

That is interesting. SO, if the code is inputted automatically upon connection..... what is the purpose of the code.? I must be missing something, some logic ??
