  1. I use Travel Assist and find it useful. Having to take over the steering just to make a lane change when the car does the rest of the driving feels awkward, so having this feature is definitely not a gimmick for those driving with Travel Assist a lot.
  2. To bring the thread back on-topic, here's a video of the Assisted Lane Change feature being tested on the Golf 8 last year.
  3. I don't doubt it, I've just been lucky with mine, I guess. What I meant by "as intended" was e.g. not using it on winding and undulating roads, from my own experience ðŸĪŠ This is true when buying a car, IF the price is incremented due to the feature, which I doubt. For those already owning a car, it's another feature added for free. Many will find it useful, but obviously some won't.
  4. It's a comfort feature that can be permanently disabled if you don't like it. Personally, I've had no problems with the ACC/travel assist so far when using it as intended 🙂
  5. The most recent user's manual has had the following information added, indicating that we might soon see an Assisted lane change feature in the Octavia. Will be interesting to see if, when and how existing cars get this feature added. Will it be a visit to the workshop or through a future OTA update, time will tell.
  6. The required force depends a lot on the moisture of your skin and ambient moisture. Yesterday I could drive with only my left hand gently gripping the lower left quadrant. Other times, when the air has been dry, I've had to grip it harder and even add a touch of my right fingers to the lower right quadrant.
  7. Congrats Jerry! Enjoy your brand new car. The flower was a nice touch by Škoda/dealership 😊
  8. The option can be found under Vehicle -> Interior -> Instrument cluster -> Eco tips. Then there's another one in the Assistance system's settings somewhere.
  9. Everyone just bragging about their so called "carbon neutral" EVs. Meanwhile I drive my CNG Octavia on locally produced biogas, fueled 500 feet from the plant. Fuel cost around 0.06₮/km 😁
  10. I'd expect it to regen a lot more than 700 watts when going down a steep hill. Did you mean it adds 700 watt-hours?
  11. That depends on what you call "coasting". With the DSG, you could be coasting in gear with fuel supply cut off ("0.0 l/h" or "0.0 kg/h" on the dash depending on the fuel) or out of gear with the engine idling at around 1000rpm ("Coasting" on the dash). The latter situation will definitely use fuel. You are fully correct here. When the dash is showing "Coasting" and the eco icon, the engine is decoupled from the transmission and idling. It's possible to influence whether it coasts in gear with fuel supply cut off or decoupled by the speed at which you lift your foot off the throttle. By releasing it slowly, it will decouple the engine and coast smoothly. When releasing the throttle abrutply, the ECU expects you to slow down or come to a stop, and it will usually start engine braking right away.
  12. Without a separate data subscription, internet data is still available for "critical" functions such as SOS, OTA updates etc. If you are subscribed to the Connect services, you will also get regular navigation database updates.
  13. It's downloaded over the eSIM connection.
  14. What car charges at a constant 1kW? 😂
  15. If you're anywhere half as tight as your old man, I'd just look at the charge percentage you added and time it by 13 kWh, then round it up by 20-30% to count for losses. You might end up paying him a couple cents more than ideal, but hey, it's still cheaper than charging at the public ones. 😃
  16. You got it through the dealer? I'm still eagerly waiting for the OTA to start rolling out 😃
  17. Look around for dried up coolant. The residue is bright pink in color. That should point you to the source. Head gaskets should not blow this soon, but who knows...
  18. I don't see a leaky water pump causing low coolant temps. Thermostat stuck open or faulty temp sensor is my guess.
  19. Hence I mentioned "Octavia NXs on the 18xx software" 😉 Some Octavias on 16xx sofware do get the 1896 update, but all 16xx that are eligible must go to the dealer for the update.
  20. NX is the codename for all fourth gen Octavias.
  21. Many have probably been waiting for the day when these larger updates will be available OTA. Looks like that day is finally here, soon, for select cars. All Octavia NXs on the 18xx software should be getting the 1896 update over-the-air in the near future, according to MQB-Coding & Retrofit on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mqbcoding/posts/pfbid0mfr2ePL9JTG3rdfjcb6kZniexNY8XUYjaJsPHd4NiTR96TUJ232yVmByAKVpJZd8l The update is already being rolled out at least on some Golf 8s and Seat Leons:
  22. Looks like everyone on 18xx software will be getting version 1896 as a two part (3.5 + 1.7 GB) OTA download soon. Very nice. From MQB-Coding & Retrofit on Facebook:
  23. How does one make Skoda aware of this? I haven't found a way to report bugs directly to them. ðŸĪ”
  24. The trip data sections has an icon where the CNG and petrol "pumps" are grouped together, so the bug only exists in the home screen widget it would seem.
