  1. The EfficientGrips are among the quietest you can find. The tire noise in the Octavia is not that bad, the structure born noise is much more pronounced. Winter tires will potentially be quieter (excluding studded tires) thanks to the softer compound --> less structure born noise. I noticed a significant reduction in noise when swapping my EfficientGrips to the Continental VikingContact 7 winter tires.
  2. Could very well be 12. I was going by the video linked earlier, where it looked like 4 zones on each side. You don't have them. That's why you're missing the auto park function.
  3. Do you have all 16 sensors? The auto parking feature needs the side sensors, side assist works with only 8. Lane assist uses the windshield camera, not the sensors.
  4. Nah, they do have a habit of falling off. I was missing three of them when changing to winter tires this week.
  5. I'd say it's fitted to the correct side since that's what the majority of the world thinks 😂 Same setup as me. I like the blue, but I keep them slightly dimmed. Integrating the red safety light into the ambient strip was a clever move, I'm sure other brands have done it as well.
  6. I don't remember ever having to enter the Wi-Fi menu or turn it on manually when setting up wireless Android Auto.
  7. A more detailed explanation of the problem would be a good starting point. For the hotspot function you need a data package. Do you have one?
  8. Now that the weather has gotten colder I've been starting to use the heated steering wheel function more and more. On a few occasions, after having the heating on for a while and then disabling it, I have almost immediately got a warning that the Emergency Assist System and SOS functions are unavailable. The first time I sighed deeply, thinking it was a faulty steering wheel as some other people have mentioned. But, the second time it happened I noticed that cycling the steering wheel heating on and off again removes the error, pointing towards a software bug more than a physical problem. I will monitor the problem and mention it at the first service which is coming up soon.
  9. Towards the front of the car. It's to open up the gap at the back as much as possible for the tool to slide in. A millimeter can make a big difference when there's little clearance 🙂 EDIT: From your previous picture, I can see that you broke the clip on the outer side (if that's your left door. That's exactly the one that was catching when I removed mine. The inside clip would somehow pop out without the need to pry it open.
  10. This is how I did it: 1. With my one hand, put my fingers in the button recess and pushed the assembly forward, making the gap at the back as wide as possible. 2. With my other hand, placed a thin plastic tool in the gap and levered the assembly up until the pictured tab catched against the frame. 3. With a second plastic tool, started prying the tab away from the frame while keeping upwards pressure. After a whole lot of prying, the tab released. Patience was required 😅
  11. Except there was no issue here. It's normal injector noise and has nothing to do with the drive belt or pulley.
  12. That looks better than what I've seen from the professionals. Good job! You also did the right thing by not covering the reinforcement beams. There's always the risk water pooling if there's material on anything other than the panel itself.
  13. Both bag hooks must come off and if you have the lashing eyes, there's a bolt in each of them as well.
  14. Who said anything about the suspension being bad? I'm 99% sure he's got the sloppy boot lid stoppers that allow the lid to bottom out when going over bumps.
  15. Ouch 😐 I would guess that the cable comes as a complete unit, but I'm not sure. Maybe I was lucky with my clips staying intact, did not break a single one 🤔 Some of them slid out of their door card sockets when pulling off the trim, but that actually made them easier to remove from the door after the door card came off.
  16. Cool! Do update us when you progress. How much were the laminated windows? I don't have the acoustic windows either, and the sound from cars passing by is mostly heard through the window after I soundproofed the doors.
  17. One would think that when replacing the steering wheel for the seventh time, someone would begin realizing that the problem is not necessarily in the wheel itself, but somewhere else? It's like fixing a misfire by changing your plugs ten times over when in fact the problem is in the injectors...
  18. You need to remember one thing YOUR_CAR ≠ ALL_CARS What I want tell you is this; would I have followed your advice I would not have been driving a problem free Octavia Mk4 for six months. What applies to your car simply does not apply to newer cars where the problems have been ironed out. Oh, one thing I remember, the front assist and ACC crapped out once while I was slowly driving through a thunderstorm, near horizontal rain and visibility dropped to less than 200 meters. Perhaps I should tell people not to buy the car? 😅
  19. Yes, that's the factory look. On darker colored cars the light module blends really well with the mirror and won't be noticed except when activated 👌
  20. Just like that. I only stumbled upon these clips when removing the plastic side trim from the rear seat sides. They are pushed onto a threaded peg of some sort. Didn't find any in the trunk, where I suppose yours are?
  21. I used one of my plastic trim removal tools with a split end and inserted it around the neck of the clip. It pulls straight out by levering the tool.
  22. I'll give it a try 😄 1. Boot floor and under rear seat; less rumble overall 2. Doors; loose wiring rattles gone, plus firmer sound when closing 3. Wheel arches; less tyre/debris noise The total weight added is now at roughly 20kg.
  23. Thanks! The materials used so far cost around 300€. The butyl sheets are ~25€/m². Closed cell foam is 25-30€/m² depending on the thickness, 6mm or 10mm.
  24. More pics 😄 Rear wheel arch from inside trunk. Front facing portion of rear wheel arch. Passenger side carpet lifted as far as it will go without removing seat or center console parts. Several layers of butyl on the floor panel and some (unnecessary?) on the foam just because I couldn't reach that far below it and I was too lazy to start disconnecting wiring and stuff to remove it. Small patches on the air tunnel going to the rear vents to reduce rumble.
