  1. @Filternz were you able to tune your setup to sound good? I'm planning to replace speakers for now, to Focal IS VW 155 or 165. Haven't decided yet. Would prefer 165, but am not 100% sure if they will fit. Should, but...
  2. That's not entirely correct. There are cases, where deep bass is important. Listen to i.e. Charlie Haden on a setup that lacks deep bass, and you loose a lot. There's one song on latest Rammstein record - Meine Trennen, where base guitar actually leads in a way. In (non Canton) O4 it misses a lot, compared to better/good setup. What is interesting, is that my wife's Ibiza 6J can produce deeper bass from factory speakers, just using Pioneer AVH-Z9200DAB head unit with DSP. Maybe for most people it's enough, but not for all. I have bookshelf speakers - Monitor Audio Gold 100 5G. Connected to Arcam SA30 and using Dirac Live DSP, they can go down to 25Hz -6dB.
  3. No, it's not that easy, as it's not a simple coding/adaptation. Have you tried easy solution/test - power all the speakers using head unit amp? Just to see if Focal amp is not messing up the sound?
  4. Agree with that. Also like to have good sound in my car, and it's much easier to get good sound in car, due to it's size, materials and irregular shape. Only thing, is that it requires DSP, as you can never sit in the sweet spot Looking at the photos of the door in your car, i don't think you have/had Canton in your Skoda.
  5. @Filternz to be honest i think you need to find a better workshop to do that. Getting a result that is worse than stock after upgrade is not that easy to achieve Why would you mix different series of speakers, and using coax speakers at the back? They will have different characteristics, hence messing up the sound. Would be much better to use same type/series, and using normal speakers with separate tweeters at the back. I cannot see it on the pics, but is the interior of the door dampened? Any mats inside? That brings improvement. As for amp, would be much better to use something with MOST interface, compatible with VAG. Probably even original VAG amp would be better. I think DSP is very much needed, question is if external one, or are you able to find someone that can fiddle with built in DSP. Check this out: https://mqb-blog.com/en/2022/02/21/sound-dataset/ Question is if you can find someone that can make a use out of it?
  6. Ok, than it's definitely a bug.
  7. Do you have MySkoda account and user created in the car? If so, try to set sound settings and then go to users and sync your settings. Might be, that it's not syncing settings when you changed them, and each time you start your car, it downloads wrong setting from your profile. Happened to with phone favorites - couldn't figure out why they disappear.
  8. Maybe a stupid question, but have you registered yourself as main user of the car?
  9. Well, that's nature of S/S in a way. It doesn't work, when engine needs more power for some reason, shouldn't work after spirited driving, to allow turbo to cool down, and doesn't work when A/C needs to cool down the interior. Anyway i can see, that in O4 to works more often than in Ateca and Leon. But S/S will never work 100% of the time, even in "full" hybrid. Yes, that was annoying. One of the reasons i have almost always disabled it in Ateca. But in O4, which is mHEV, this is not an issue for me. Engine start is so fast, and drive aided by electric motor-generator), that i cannot see a difference between this, or having engine running all the time. I mean situation where i'm slowing down, engine shuts off, and before i stop i'm accelerating again. In O4 reaction to accelerator is instant. Yes, there is, but it barely noticable for me. Or maybe i will put it another way - some vibration is there, but it's not annoying for me Combining it with a fact, that - again - reaction to accelerator is instant, it have no issue with this at all. In fact i very much like S/S in this car
  10. What do you mean by "reliable"? I had Leon 1.4 TSI manual and Ateca 1.5 TSI DSG. In both cars hated S/S, as it was causing vibration on start. In manual it was bit better, as you could control S/S with clutch. In Ateca it was terrible, because of the lag. In O4 for me it's smooth and very fast. There is no lag on start. I like it a lot.
  11. Interesting. Seems you have eTEC as i do. I find S/S very good, unlike in my previous two cars. mHEV really does great job here. All VAG cars disable lane assist on sharp turns. This is by design. Probably so that drivers are not trying to use it as "autonomous driving" kind of function.
  12. Both door handles and windows button modules done. Now it's dead quite, better than in CLA Merc Tape is on almost all edges, as well as latches, clips etc. So basically everything, that directly touches the doorcard plastic. Also some tape on the door card: Highly recommended "mod", as it fixes one of the biggest issues with O4 (and all Skoda's) trim. Hope it will not start "squeecking" again Will doo rear doors (maybe even worse than front) when i will be dampening them, so in few weeks probably.
  13. No, you cannot access those latches. But it's actually not needed. If you release latches on the side and push gently upwards through the opnening in the doorcard, module will bend slightly, thus releasing the latches in the back. Used this method several times now, and all latches are fine. Problem is, that you were probably trying to release back latches first, as it's easier to insert something there because of the "cushion" part of the armrest. This way it's easy to break the latches. Edit: Working now on "squeeky" doorcards. Seems like fabric insulation tape does the trick, although requires some work. For now did driver's door and it's finally quiet. Not a sound when pulling the handle to close the door. Finally!
  14. It has not happened, as adding starter-generator increases production cost, so would also have to increase car price. At least this is how Skoda representatives were explaining why mHEV is not available in some cars. Seems that with Euro 7 a lot of smaller cars will disappear from the market, as they will not be profitable enough, or will just be too expensive (compared to what they offer).
  15. Cannot edit previous post. Here's pic of what i meant: Just insert small screwdriver or something similar in those holes, press gently and latch is released.
  16. This is something new, that they started installing only this year to some cars. We have 1.5 TSI. They messed up naming, as 1.5 TSI is EA211 EVO, but it's NOT 1.5 TSI EVO Anyway they were installing DADA even after WLTP certification. I had DADA engine with GPF in 2018 Ateca. I think they started installing DPCA in new generation cars like O4, Golf 8 and Leon MK4.
  17. Gent's there are actually special openings/holes in the door card. to release the latches of the windows switch module. Will try to take a photo on next occassion. They are under the door handle cover, more or less in the places marked in red: I know it's a photo of rear door card, but you get what i mean If you want less noise, not only vibration, you need to also use foam for example in the boot.
  18. Good thing we have a choice I remember one perfect example of long life servicing. Renault Laguna - queen of lorries - 1,9 dCI engine. In some cases turbo failed after 70kkm, and negine problems started at roughly 200kkm. Mitsubishi Carisma 1,9 DiD. No issues, many cars ran for 300kkm and more with factory fitted turbo and no engines problems at all. Both cars had in reality exactly same engine. It's just that Renault used LL servicing, and Mitsubishi used good, old fixed intervals. I know it was 20 years ago, and now we have better oils, but those still degrade with time. Oil is especially important in turbocharged engines, as the same oil is used for engine and turbo. For me it's good enough reason to use fixed servicing interval. It's not really that expensive, and can save a lot of money in the future. Would be different i it was a leased car, which i know i will get rid in 3-4 years
  19. They are always the issue, at least from my experience. At least i'm always changing oil maximum after 1 year or 15000km. Usually issues will not start before 100-150 kkm, so first owner might not even know about them. True, that's why i said "first of all...". It's always good to replace all fluids and filters when buying used car. Thing is, that chaging oil every 30kkm will cause excessive wear, where not changing brake fluid will affect braking performance, but will not destroy anything. So once fluid is changed (after you bought the car), it shouldn't be an issue, even if previous owner was not replacing it. Good point about all the manufacturer recommendations, TPI's and recalls. This should be checked if possible.
  20. That;s always a good habit, no matter what engine we are talking about First of all avoid cars serviced using long life.
  21. What i mean, is that if there would be some fundamental flaws in those engines, like with EA111 family or first generation of EA888, we would hear it already. 1.5 TSI is evolution of EA211 family. 1.4 been with us since 2012, and haven't heard of major flaws. Only heard about variator issues in first batches of 1.2. They have WLTP certification and GPF's since late 2018. I had first batch of Ateca's with this engine and GPF, manufactured in October 2018. Well, never said this engine didn't have ANY problems. But this one actually seems resolved now, and it was mostly software and didn't affect mechanical reliability. I had little juddering in Ateca, but it was solved with a software update and engine been flawless since than (except for it being louder, than 1.4 TSI). Of course not denying, that some users might have had problems/failures of 1.5 TSI, but it's still single cases, which in many cases can be caused by a single failed part. It happens, especially with high amounts of engines manufactured. 1.5 is the most popular engine in VG group right now. Just look on how many cars they sell, and how many of them have this engine. From my perspective after initial problems with juddering being solved, this seems to be really good and reliable engine, with no major flaws. So far at least. However i agree with your comment on extended warranty, although actually engine would be one of the last things i'm worried about It's more about issues with electronics and possibly DQ200 gearbox/clutches/flywheel.
  22. 1.5 TSI been with us since 2017 or 2018. Plenty of cars out of warranty now, and somehow i haven't heard about failures. At least since 2018 they are undergoing WLTP certifications, and since that time not much has changed in the engine as such, except for adding mHEV to some models.
  23. Go for it, it's easier than it looks at first glance Mats inside of the door are better solution + it helps to improve audio.
  24. No, you can't. This assembly is basically a window lift, so you have to detach the glass. Good question qbout point 3 You just slide the glass in. You have to be carefull, so that it slides exactly in correct place and gently push it into the latches. When you see it, you will know what i mean. You might need to use screwdriver again to help window to slide in. Push it exactly same way, as during disassembly, so that glass can slide into the latch. I had to do it for one latch. Too bad i haven't taken any pics of that part.
  25. You're right. I'm always wrong...
